S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

misery is a cop mod yes?
can someone give me a quick fill-in on what it does
and another question, is there any way to have the audio in russian but with english subs like in metro?
Anyone else notice they seem to have created 2 torrents for it, in the same way they created mirrors? They don't quite seem to understand the concept of it.

Either that, or it's 2 torrent files with different names but point to the same torrent, but that would be far less amusing and give me no reason to post.
i can't choose my class in the installer, it never gives me the chance?
also i installed it anyway and the menu is fucked up even though i ran COP as admin

Wait until you launch the game.
Menu is out of proportion for me and the game doesn't load textures for guns, trees, and enemies. Going to try a complete reinstall of COP and see if that fixes it.
I start the game as a USS sniper. Go right following the northern lake in Zaton. Two cats spawn and kill me. Go left following the lake and I get killed by a swarm of dogs.
There's just no winning in this.

did you actually read the instructions about installing the textures
If you're missing the textures for MISERY you need to manually stick the textures folder from the download into your CoP gamedata folder.
Happened to me since the way the archives were packed meant that the textures didn't get put in the right place for the installer, the above fixed it though.

Extensive quality testing.
Am I doing something wrong, or has anyone else got this? I've not had this kind of bitchfit when installing any other mod onto the STALKER games.

Ahh, literally the same minute :v:
I see what I did wrong, the textures folder from part 2 should have gone in the gamedata from part 1 when using the installer, and I left the gamedata and texture folders separate, assuming they were just meant to be in a folder together. Oh well, seems like it should all work now.
Keep the picture as a memento of my stupidity.
did you actually read the instructions about installing the textures
There were separate instructions for the textures?
So at the end of the day, I had leftover Chinese food for breakfast, Misery 2 was a horrible mod, and everything was right with the world.
Hmmn, was hoping 2.0 was going to sell me Misery. I like a challenge, but having a Psuedogiant thrown at you the minute you spawn is a little much.

The hype is over, back to SOUP/SGM.

Would be surprised if it's intentional, though, rather than a random spawn.

It's definitely a random spawn. I've launched a new game five times to see how it unfolds from the snipers spawn. The only consistent thing is a pack of dogs in the lake.
Man up then.

Interesting, I assumed it was intentional in a "What is the easiest way we can make this hard....I KNOW!" kind of way.
If its random then disregard my comment
So far the assaulter seems to be the easiest in terms of spawning locations.
Edit:
Also how the fuck did it take so long for them to make this mod? It honestly doesn't feel that special.
Well, I got the textures working, and it all works now.
Only issue is that even on minimum graphics, no dynamic lighting, I'm still having huge performance issues, and am trying to decide if I consider it playable.
Admittedly, I am running a pretty old rig, with a 2.33GHz quadcore, 4Gb of RAM and a GTX 560ti, but I should still be able to get a decent framerate on absolute minimum, especially considering that my resolution is only 1440x900.
Also, there is an absolutely huge number of spelling mistakes and typos in the items.
Anyone having problems whereby item descriptions, in particular, those for suits/armour, just don't fit on the screen? I can't tell how much things weigh and it's awful.
Note- Call of Pripyat, Missouri 2.0. On a 24", 1920*1080 monitor. I appreciate they must have had fun writing lore, but come the fuck on.
Fuck it, at least it runs stable. It might be an utter trainwreck of a mod, but I'm going to see it through and document this bastard version of The Zone.
Anyone having problems whereby item descriptions, in particular, those for suits/armour, just don't fit on the screen? I can't tell how much things weigh and it's awful.
Depends on the items, but some of them are popping off mine, especially if you look at the suits and such for sale on the Shadovsk.
I really want to like Misery, but this performance...
Hmm, I'll try assault or recon, the performance gets notably worse whenever I try ironsights, so it might be related to the passive zoom increase the sniper supposedly gets. I'll just have to get my own moist nugget as a recon.
=
Certainly works better as a recon, even with enemies in sight, now my main foe is chopped off itemframes, I suppose.
So far, the only technical problem i've had is that the description of items runs off the goddamn screen. They need to seriously trim down the words (and correct quite a few of them), though I guess the mod was really made only in mind for those with enormous monitors, so i'm not really expecting a fix.
I'm not very fond of it, but you gotta like it for it's ability to drive you insane, and you don't even have the die a lot, you just have to suffer the stutter.

why did no one warn me
I didn't know
I should have never installed redux
what a waste of bandwidth

Redux is awesome, what are you talking about.
ITT: People never learn to not overhype things. It always surprises me how much people will build up a mod or a game, and then they act shocked when it's not as godlike as they expected it to be. I usually let these things stay off my radar until their done, then I'm not anxiously awaiting the release and raising my hopes too high. Some of those ModDB people, sheesh, they need to calm down.

I was expecting it to be bad but jesus christ, not this bad.
I wasn't expecting amazing things, just something that actually manages to fit on the screen and remain reasonably playable, like Misery 1 was :v:
I didn't bother paying attention to Misery 2 until I saw 50 odd posts instead of the usual 20.
