Huh. The second key to the posion gas in Misery 2.0 seems to have disappeared. I've hauled my ass up and down the bridge several times, and scoured the waste plant, and nothing. There's usually two keys, one in the flipped over jeep and one in the jeep at the back of the column (or in the jeep hanging off of the bridge) The safe had one key, but the othe rkey doesn't seem to exist. No contains on any of the jeeps/trucks. Welp.
Seems I was using an out-of-date version of DDSopt, an initial test with the main menu screen using 0.80 Update 4 works flawlessly. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] Reprocessing the textures with the newer DDSopt, then i'll do another test.
Since I can't play Misery 2.0 because I Can't run CoP cause of a crash at startup, I decided to play Stalkersoup on my new Rig. I can finally max out Stalkersoup, and finished the cave with ease. I don't know what's so hard about it.
Anyone with bad load times should really invest in a ssd, misery loads within 10 seconds
Anyone with bad load times should really invest in a ssd, misery loads within 10 seconds
Soup loads within 15-20 seconds
Randomly checking the processed texture files, it seems the newer DDSopt does not create the same corruptions, but retains the same savings in texture size. Going to test in-game now. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] Yeah, noticed no errors so far; this tool may very well be the ultimate way forward with optimising STALKER textures :D [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] Here's the program: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5755/?tab=2&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D5755&pUp=1 You'll want to get DDSopt - pre-release - update 4 You may require a Nexus account (free) to download files over 2mb
Anyone with bad load times should really invest in a ssd, misery loads within 10 seconds
Any of mod loads as the normal game would. It's just poor optimization as stated. I'd only get a SSD if they were cheaper, 125GB is like 175£ or somewhere near that.
Is TFW still in development?
Having solved the problem I was having with the textures (and what a simple solution it thankfully turned out to be :v:), i'm going to work on compacting the descriptions. No ETA per se, it's just something i'll chip away when I can be arsed.
Is there a way to prevent stack trace errors? I have a feeling that in MSO and TFW it was because too much AI was being simulated but I don't enough about the engine to make a conclusion like that.
stack trace is just the engine's debug information being spat out after it crashed, it isn't an error in itself
Is TFW still in development?
Not really sure, the dev doesn't seem to have posted in his mod's GSC forum thread in a while. His last post there was at some point in March, and he was revealing something new he was working on that isn't in 3.8 beta. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] Oh christ, just realised due to the class thing, there's 3 versions of every text file for equipment and weapons. Pffffffffft, fuck that.
I think you'd just have to copy paste some stuff is all.
Would have to do that item-by-item to preserve the class-specific text; Winmerge tends to shit itself with large contiguous blocks of text :/ To be honest, I find the whole class thing not that interesting. Certainly must've been an arseache to get working, but doesn't feel worth it. The difference in anything except stamina, speed and jump height I don't notice, and there's no economic effect e.g. sniper weapons being cheaper for snipers.

If I have nothing to do (and/or watching a show) I could probably port the updated text to the other things. All you'd have to do is create one copy of the updated text and upload it for me to copy over to the rest.

I had no problem hauling and using a PKM to fight my way through the Pripyat underground as sniper, or using an AKM throughout Zaton. I guess I sort of noticed how it took my Mosin years to degrade, but even when I went Recon, I was using the Green Dragon perfectly fine.
Is there a download of one big file instead of torrenting it? I'm curious.

It is the coolest thing of Misery imo though.
Oh god, this is brilliant; from the /vg/ thread: >tell my friend about misery >he gets it >30 minutes later get a barrage of messages on steam, questions like "HOW THE FUCK DO I PLAY THIS?" and "WHY DO I DIE IN ONE HIT?" >tell him he needs to use drugs, try mixing weed and morphine >"I don't have morphine but I do have percocets, brb" >he comes back half an hour later >"Did you beat the part you were having trouble with?" >"Nah dude, I took some percocets and smoked some weed like you said after uninstalling that shitty game."
True, maybe I can help you. If I have nothing to do (and/or watching a show) I could probably port the updated text to the other things.
Now, when you say "optimize", what exactly do you mean?
An example. Imagine a ground texture which, for some reason, has an 8 bit alpha channel. This is entirely unnecessary, as a ground texture doesn't need transparency, so that alpha is a waste of space. DDSopt will notice the alpha is there but unused, and save the texture without it, thereby saving space.
I didn't understand any of that shit up until the end of the last sentence, so I'm just going to assume that this will cut down how much space this mod takes in terms of textures only?
I didn't understand any of that shit up until the end of the last sentence, so I'm just going to assume that this will cut down how much space this mod takes in terms of textures only?
The 8-bit alpha channel thing is best put as the value that controls the transparency/see-throughness as Doom brought up in the third sentence. But yeah, this'll cut down how much space/VRAM the mod hogs. Moreso the latter bit.
ok, I'm home, installing missouri now and will report back later, perhaps with blog post at some point! relatedly, if that is true about misery 2.0 coming with a cracked .exe, there's a lot to be talked about regarding the development team's attempts to try and actually monetize the mod... I dunno how thrilled I'd be if someone emailed me asking to make money off my work when they hadn't even paid for it in the first place and actually distributed a way to make it so no-one else had to either... (referring to asking GSC for a license to take donations) I dunno, I'm hoping this is all a big misunderstanding, it'd be nice to see Loner or Trojanuch posting to try and explain what's happened.

Too bad I couldn't play this shit regardless.

File size matches, too. Even if one doesn't compare those things, installing Misery on a fresh vanilla copy very clearly allows you to run the game without the CD. EDIT: Should point out it's xrEngine.exe that's the crack, not StalkerCOP.exe
oh man it just keeps getting worse: [t]http://puu.sh/3SW86.png[/t]
I can't decide whether to install AMK, OGSE or LURK for my first modded playthrough.
I can't decide whether to install AMK, OGSE or LURK for my first modded playthrough.
An old version of LURK and Oblivion Lost where the only mods I've played with when it comes to SoC, but both are amazing and great fun.
