Really? Redux 2 mimicking S2? Wouldn't have worked, if I may be totally honest. You need one hell of a team for that, and a different engine. Hell, you'd need to start all over again, get their concepts together, maps, monsters, weapons, NPC's, let alone the animations, scripts, everything. Impossible, to say it lightly
God it's so fun getting back into the step of things, especially after taking a break from games in general since i had to work and school it up. I remember when i was able to beat SHOC and CoP on wizard, and master, with fewer than 6 reloads, today i came back and got my ass pretty handed to me by some random bandits, and now i'm back to about veteran level playing now. it's like you're forgetting everything you ever learned, and you just start doing it again without realizing it. Never know how a stalker game in openGL4 would look.

Unfortunately (unfortunately?) for me, I tend to remember everything that happens in a game so nothing comes as a suprise to me. I also pretty much know where everything is, every location I mean.

Maybe with the help of Dez and his team, but I don't know of many programmers capable or either rewriting the engine or creating a whole new one. Creating an engine is not a month's task, it takes years to create a stable engine, and in the meantime the so called team (community) can only do as little as concept arts, idea's, story etc. I'll say it like this; Trying to re-create STALKER 2 is impossible due to it not existing yet. We could make something along the lines of stalker 2, but we'll never succeed in creating the next in the series without having inside info, knowledge or anything about it yet.
You know what the problem with modding and working on mods is? You're not getting paid for it. Sure, it's awesome that someone likes your work, but at the end of the day, writing will not put food on my table, while all the other different things I do allow me to scrap up the money to survive. I would LOVE to work full time as a writer on a Stalker or similar mod, but I live in Latvia, so survival>creative fulfillment.

Also, recreating STALKER2 would be illegal as to it's name and brand being copyrighted. There's loads of restrictions that make this process impossible. And I'm just being realistic here, I'd love to work on STALKER 2 as particle artist / environmental texture artist, but hey, like Para said, it ain't gonna pay the bills if I do it for free.

We had an extended storyline and bringing some old maps back revamped, along with our new features. There was never any idea to change the engine. [editline]11th August 2013[/editline] But the point is I realised I was trying to compensate for lack of S2 by making Redux into an alternate storyline mod with the old levels, and realising that I saw I was losing the vision of Redux and I brought everything back in to stick to the Redux ethos.
Such is life in capitalist Earth

okay so I got CS to start but
Just clearing things up :)
this fucking game just cant give me a break, can it? [editline]11th August 2013[/editline] this fucking automerge just cant give me a break, can it? [editline]asd[/editline] Is it just because of Reloaded or what?
Try version 3.7b. Fixed my crashing problems
Anyone got a link to that? I figured 3.8 would've been the best version, being the latest :c

And then connect it to X-ray. Is it hard? Yes, but still possible.
So I contacted Sin!, the author of "GWR", and scripter/engine extender for "Gunslinger mod". I had hoped that doing some of the cool engine extensions he's doing would be possible before Gunslinger is released (some of the stuff he's done: added ability for misfire/jam animations, different animations for reloading with full vs. empty mag on assault rifles, +1 in the chamber, etc.). Anyways, from what he told me what he did is he is NOT using X-Ray Extensions to do this stuff. He's hooking his own DLL written in Delphi into the game.

GUNSLINGER guys write their shit on Delphi. And then connect it to X-ray. Is it hard? Yes, but still possible.
Sounds like a rigid system and heavy too.
oops :v:
Clear Sky tl;dr version
The barrel needs to be in a shape of a grenade, and the knife is your dreams and expectations.
GUNSLINGER guys write their shit on Delphi. And then connect it to X-ray. Is it hard? Yes, but still possible.
Oh damn, didn't know gunslinger went that far. I still wonder, why are Gunslinger and Shoker apart from each other. They both have amazing features, I think they should be mixed. (Shoker has 3D shell ejection models!)
The barrel needs to be in a shape of a grenade, and the knife is your dreams and expectations.
The barrel is an Alpha Squad, and the knife is your success in the Zone.
OWR anyone? No? Well, may I introduce you to; http://www.moddb.com/mods/cop-original-weapons-renewal/ You're welcome. Enjoy. (made by one of the misery team members, because we all like to make addons apart from misery alone!) edit; The FPS on the last shot, damn!
"I am also thinking about creating weapons addon which will include the best available weapons models which are not included in Stalker COP original game. " Dayum, if he really does do that; that'd save me an inconceivable amount of time sifting through the various weapons mods to find the best ones to stick in my little mod.
Such is life in capitalist Earth
Maybe one day when robots do all the work, there'd be no need to put survival over art. Then again, people'd probably compete to have the most robots doing their bidding, strangle the supply of robots to other people, and we're right back where we started :c [editline]11th August 2013[/editline]
Oh damn, didn't know gunslinger went that far. They seem to prefer making their own little piece of a mod, then another Russian comes and smashes them together in a bloated, abominable amalgamation like the Soup :v:
is the original weapon renewal mod compatible with swartz? i know its unlikely but just making sure
misery strikes again
is the original weapon renewal mod compatible with swartz? i know its unlikely but just making sure
i've been trying out swartz all the weapons look awful going to try misery one last time
I'm enjoying Misery 2.0 better the second time around. As usual I play myself, cowardly in the fact I never go out at night, only go out during the day to grab artifacts as quickly as I can and run back to safety since I'm only in it for some quick cash and the Zone creeps me the fuck out. Unfortunately I made some bad initial investments and for awhile I was just laying ambushes for poor Loners that crossed me just to eat. I was able to make a bit of cash, invested in more ammunition and a Bear detector so I can get into artifact hunting. The scarcity and strategic buying, I like that. The new items and multi-tasking is great, I spend like ten minutes before I head out just trying to take exactly what I may need and being very cautious about what I buy or sell. But again, huge issue is the enemy damage. Three or four headshots fail to drop some enemies, center mass shots they eat like candy and considering how accurate and deadly AI are it's literally just an annoying way of artificially increasing difficulty. If there is anything I could fix it would be this. Got the jump on a lone STALKER, only a few rounds left and it's you or him? Well too bad, despite putting three rounds into the back of his skull he turns around and shoots you once in the gut. Dead. So much for immersion when I have to reload a save because people are immune to headshots. The prices for artifacts are disappointing as ever. I was pretty excited when I found some decent artifacts, rushed back to sell them hoping to make just enough to repair a gun or get a better suit but they're barely worth more than decent condition firearms at this point. I might as well be a bandit and go around pawning guns I steal off bodies, artifacts at this point are more effort than is worth the profit.
The progressional difficulty will kick in in some time CodeMonkey, it will all become fairly easy once you've got a good suit, trust me :) Glad to hear you're enjoying MISERY a bit more now. I hope that once I'm home, I'll be able to create my own unfucker patch for you guys. Nothing better than a dev doing one, eh. I am annoyed by some damage values as well, but I still enjoy the mod. Just use smart cover when engaging an enemy (or friendly) and do a lot of quests. They will gain you a lot of money and in most cases you can easily make some quick cash and get decent loot!
