What is the default difficulty for misery? There is something I really want to test, but it requires me to be impervious to bullets. I dont want to risk fucking anything up with some trainer or whatever, and I heard that if you set all of your immunities to zero you are pretty much invincible. So I am editing actor.ltx. If that isnt how you do it, how would I pretty much give myself godmode?
I would assume it's master. You could always just edit the values for all the difficulties to make sure. Also trainers don't fuck anything up and if anything it'll just make your game crash.
Also the thing I wanted to test was how long a mercenary would last with a knife shoved up his ass, because I had a quicksave where I was in the middle of nowhere with a ton of loot and lone merc far away from his base just happened to crest the hill to my rear just as I saved. He had a souped up AK so I would die even before I could get out of the loading screen. My last save was like half an hour or more before, so yea fuck that guy. The results of the test? Not very long.
There should be a godmode switch in one of the scripts. Try "bind_stalker.script" in the scripts folder
requesting that 'bread' creepy pasta thing if anyone has it
So I killed the merc, went back to skadovsk, and got a whole 84k from all of the stuff. I also netted myself a better detector. So I have about 90k in total, what should I get? I need a new suit badly, but there are lots of combinations. I like to hunt artifacts but I also like to go on combat missions. I could get the Berill-5M and the CS-3a helmet, I could order an armored suit, I could buy a sunrise suit and either the CS-3a helmet or the ecologist helmet, or I could just deal with my current respirator and cloth mask and order a new sniper and get another leather suit or maybe a sunrise suit. Or I could go for complete anomaly protection and buy beards ecologist suit, or just get something cheap like another heavy leather vest and save the rest.

I wanna start playing the stalker games which have been sitting in my library for a while, but I heard they were buggy and there were huge community patches you should download before hand... the question would be: which ones? What do you guys recommend?
Start with SoC. ZRP is a community fixpack that should be all you need for a (mostly) bug-free playthrough.

Any thoughts about http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 ?
It's bad.
jesus christ how is it that fucking mod is so ingrained into the games that people cannot help but ask about it? Max, ZRP is all you need, don't use complete for the love of God.
Any thoughts about http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 ?
It's unpopular among the more elitist Stalker communities (e.g: Us), because it's seen as making the game too easy. It's a poor choice because at 4 years old it's hopelessly out of date, and most of the components are available as separate mods in newer editions.
jesus christ how is it that fucking mod is so ingrained into the games that people cannot help but ask about it?
It's what it promises. People unfamiliar with the modding scene of a particular game are going to look for the easiest to manage version of what they're looking for, and Complete promises bugfixes and graphical improvements. [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] Recommendations don't help either, I know Seiteki at least used to use it if he doesn't still. I don't know that Max asked him, or even thought about asking him, but Seiteki seemed pleased with it during the stream I watched him in.
requesting that 'bread' creepy pasta thing if anyone has it
Do you mean this? http://www.eurostalker.co.uk/stalker-campfire/the-legend-of-the-fabled-bread-t19.html
Because people who like playing every game as an unstoppable terminator will blindly praise Complete till their death.
If that's the case they should all play People Soup; once you find the over-powered equipment you basically are just unstoppable. Unless you step in one of the random anomalies, which it randomizes even on load.

Unless you step in one of the random anomalies, which it randomizes even on load.
See, even SOUP can balance out the op gear. Does it makes you stronger - yes, invincible - no.
It's a poor choice because at 4 years old it's hopelessly out of date, and most of the components are available as separate mods in newer editions.
Plus Complete for Call of Pripyat is known to introduce bugs and cause save corruptions while the vanilla game (it's better to play with AtmosFear 3+Absolute Texture Packs than pure vanilla though) is very stable and doesn't need any community patches.
See, even SOUP can balance out the op gear. Does it makes you stronger - yes, invincible - no.
I don't know if you remember my Soup stream but I had to basically cheat myself ammo for the TRG-42 and even THEN I was far from invincible. The Soup is balanced by making everything overpowered. I also praise the Soup for making shotguns realistic. They have a really reasonable spread.
Quick question, is the reason that my stalker is stuttering (GTX 680, i7 3820k, 3gb ram patch) that I'm using it on an external drive? (some 2tb seagate one) Other question: Why does it look like my stalker text has no cleartype? http://i.imgur.com/DhxoJiV.jpg
External drives tend to be 5400RPM or have annoying power-saving features. It's not wonder the game has trouble streaming content which results in stutter.
External drives tend to be 5400RPM or have annoying power-saving features. It's not wonder the game has trouble streaming content which results in stutter.
Yea, but the problem is I need to use the external drive because I keep shifting from mums and dads house
Yea, but the problem is I need to use the external drive because I keep shifting from mums and dads house
Can't you just keep a copy on each PC and put the savegames on the ExHDD?
Yea, but the problem is I need to use the external drive because I keep shifting from mums and dads house
How much RAM does the machine have? Could place part/all of the game on a temporary RAM drive [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] Oh wait you said on the last page that he has 4GB RAM. Uh, probably best to do what Beacon said [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] or even just move the game onto the internal when you want to play and move it to the external when you are done

[t]http://i.imgur.com/RMol9fz.jpg[/t] What's this armor called? (misery)
Sunrise with a bunch of stuff from Metro welded to it. The pouches may be from somewhere else, though.
