back to spamming videos!
This is actually quicker to do than making gif's so I probably should too.

I wish I had my mic enabled, when this happened I said "Jesus fuck" so loud it scared my dad and he almost fell down the steps.

Subb'd. Need to re-install now.
Will SOC run on an old laptop with extensive tweaking?

Possibly. Install Shaders Max and play in Static Lighting and you should be okay
Oh fuck I didn't know that worked on static lighting.
Gonna try it on my laptop to see if I can get more than 15 fps while looking at tree LODs that look like smears of poop.
I think that it's just that most of us have been playing STALKER for so long that we forget how normally people don't play single-player games, especially FPS games multiple times so people buy it and treat it as an FPS game you play through once and forget about afterward so it's understandable that when an anticipated mod with large amounts of media presence (Complete and Misery) releases and queues a lot of people's interest, they figure out they might as well get the best possible experience right away.
True, but it's unfortunate when someone puts in a mod that is really different from the base game and either hates it and the games by association, thinking the base game is like that or falls in love with it and then compares every mod to that, creating an expectation that nothing else compares to.
While the Complete series of mods is wholly unnecessary and a notch or two easier, at the very least it doesn't stray that far from the original experience and the Clear Sky Complete was actually relatively decent and fixing some glitches present in the game.
I see what you're saying, but if that person isn't willing to give the game a fair chance and jumps to conclusions, they're probably not going to be convinced anyway.
Turns out I'm in a very similar position to Green.
Playing TFW as duty. Defiance, Bandits and Mercs are fucking dead, with Duty destroying Mercs, Clear Sky destroying Defiance and Freedom destroying the bandits.
Now I'm in a situation where Freedom is constantly hurling people at agroprom, while attacking a point defended by duty into Cordon with CS.
It's becoming a major pain because we're taking heavy losses and they seem to have never ending numbers of guys.

And one of my squad members has completely run out of primary weapon ammo so is stuck using a fucking makarov

You can modify the squad respawn times.

hey now
I never said I don't enjoy the pain ;)

That's weird, the bandits wiped out Freedom in my game, CS and I are just starting to try and push them out the warehouses and Dark Valley. They're surprisingly well armed too, Grozas and VSS/Vintorezs.
In TFW when you advance your faction another faction will always wipe out another per-determined one.
Freedom will actually never fight Duty (unless you go out of your way to run and attack them) if you play as them, instead the Mercs wipe them out.

Bandits are actually OP in my mod, they start with vikhr's which fire 9x39 so they kill everything in like one shot... and the vikhr is just as accurate as a vintorez. :v: I nerfed them a bit but apparently not enough.
That would explain the Cheeki Breeki Domination Power Hour going on in my game then. :v:
Expression : error handler is invoked!
Function : handler_base
File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrCore\xrDebugNew.cpp
Line : 764
Description : pure virtual function call
fuck this fucking error
Too pure for you.

The game's saving it for marriage
What i'd like to see in a mod environment-wise is lovely greenery in the beginning, but that the environments get progressively bleaker and/or weirder the closer to the CNPP one gets (or specifically, the emitters).
Surreal beauty hiding monstrous creatures and the odd anomaly in the Cordon; until it gets to lightning that poses a real danger to the player, shit floating around (not as extreme as e.g. Xen, but maybe something like bridges still in place despite their supports being wrecked), parts of the ground cracked and on fire as if lava was about to bubble up at any second at the very epicenter of the Zone.
Not really canon, but it'd make for nice environmental variety imo.
Hello fellow stalkers! Haven't been here for a while, and I have a question. In your opinion, which mod has the most realistic ballistic/weapons configs?
Hello fellow stalkers! Haven't been here for a while, and I have a question. In your opinion, which mod has the most realistic ballistic/weapons configs?
L.U.R.K. by far.
The recoil is a bit excessive but you gotta balance the game too.

hello, it depends on the game really
L.U.R.K. by far.
hello, it depends on the game really
SOC preferably, but if there are other good mods with realistic weapons for other two games, I guess I could use their ballistic values in SOC too...

Recoil is still pretty harsh, 7.62x39 doesn't make you look at the stars after a burst of 3 irl unless you hold the rifle like a sore dick. But yeah, if you have even a little bit of cam_inert on, the aim gets somewhat "stuck" in the air. It was super annoying with shotguns.

How do you change the amount in recoil in L.U.R.K?
How do you change the amount in recoil in L.U.R.K?
You'd have to edit the recoil values of every gun in their respective files. Some modder can tell you what do you need to change if you really want to do it :v:
I'd just say bear with it.

I'm a nerdy nerd, and even I handled an RK-95 without smacking myself in the face with the rifle barrel from the recoil :v:
How do you change the amount in recoil in L.U.R.K?
Going through every weapons file and editing the recoil values.
My game always crashes when I want to loot the body of the dead scientist that gives you the code for the door in X18, currently playing OGSE for Shadow of Chernobyl, how can I fix this?
Well I got it fixed for some reason, it works now.
So, any of your opinions on this:

It seems like the mod has been abandoned? It looks great, almost photorealistic.

Whoop whoop. Off the laptop and back on the desktop. Time to download mods and not actually play the game!
Starting a new run, never even completed the game and I have played it for years. But I crave a more visceral, realistic experience and a graphic mod that isn't dark but doesn't ruin the atmosphere. I would go looking but where are good places for mods, is there a "nexus" (-animu/sex/etc) for Stalker, specifically SOC?

There are links to pretty nice lists of good mods for the whole series in the OP but they're broken. I'm generally sticking to ModDB.
[editline]cheeki breeki[/editline]
I highly recommend OGSE, LURK or STALKERSOUP if you want some Russian wizardry.
GSC-Game forums has a lot of download links for mods that don't have a presence on Moddb.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Filefront used to be a nice resource back in the day too, it still might be worth it to take a look at.
