Anyone know what happened to that CoP co-op mod which sorta kinda worked?
Anyone know what happened to that CoP co-op mod which sorta kinda worked?
Hasn't been updated in ages.
All of my why not.
Crikey, took them 2 games and they do it and then ditch it.

You know, I always had a great interest in STALKER modding. I remember the first time I started looking for mods for SHOC back in 2008 (I played SHOC on a XP 2400+, 1gb ram and Ge6200 PC >:P at 25 fps on very low static) and almost everything was, you know, "superficial" stuff. i.e, new textures, new modded suits (Scarecrow exo anyone?), fucked up spawns, but nothing more deeper or with new gameplay features.
Then Priboi Story came out changing a crapload and afterwards a bazillion mods also started coming out.
Oblivion Lost 2.0 and AMK were the shit back then. So popular that most mods were based or built around them.
But, there's something I never understood. I discovered the russian modding scene a year ago, and saw those guys were like, literally, turning things upside down. New levels, npcs, gameplay features, engine changes. And they have been doing that stuff since the game came out. How come they didn't "communicate" things earlier? Of course, we now have OGSE in english and a lot of google translated mods, but so far the only mods from the "english-western" scene I've seen do things similar to the russians were LURK and Lost Alpha.
PS: In some funny way, the same thing is happening with Empire Total War. The "western" scene has been trying to mod the map in some way for years and now recently it seems that some russians managed to unlock a new region, add stuff into it and made it playable. And they knew this for a long time.
Fucking sucks.
My friend only ever plays coop games now (because we play things together) so the only way I would ever get him to play stalker is if it had/got coop.

show him the beauty of stalker co-op
I'll have one regardless :v:
I want to make a weed-mod for all the STALKER games. I dislike Freedom but I do love me some grade A matured reefer.
Guys, I got a bit of an issue

Typical duty, get everyone else to do it and lie down for a break.
He just popped some Ukranian DXM, it was too much for him to take. Let him calm down before he murders hippies with you.
So, why does everyone here hate complete so much? I don't like it, it's not worth the time considering there are other, better mods out there, but i don't think it's awful.
[editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
Also i really need to try 1935.
So, why does everyone here hate complete so much? I don't like it, it's not worth the time considering there are other, better mods out there, but i don't think it's awful.
I don't particularly know either, but one of the reasons might be a lot of people started playing the game when complete first came out because "but it's vanilla 2.0!" and die hard fans including myself always shoot out the rule "play vanilla first."
Complete might not change much of anything relating to game play, but you need to appreciate the game from its raw perspective and it makes you realize what other mods bring to the table in regards to graphics and game play features.
And i would love to have a new stalker like this
Complete may not suck but anyone who plays a game without playing it unmodded first shouldn't be playing the game in the first place.
I mean seriously if you believe that you need a mod your first time through why would you have wanted to purchase it in the first place?
Also does complete have a sleeping bag? If it does I don't like that, if you get stuck somewhere in the middle of the night you should have to make it to somewhere save alive, not press a button and fast forward the night away just because there are no enemies around.
And i would love to have a new stalker like this
wow those anims make some crappy SoC mod animations look good
I don't particularly know either, but one of the reasons might be a lot of people started playing the game when complete first came out because "but it's vanilla 2.0!" and die hard fans including myself always shoot out the rule "play vanilla first."

It's partially because of what Thomo said but also because the stuff in there is outdated and it makes the game easy so basically it's completely useless to use it and it's better to get separate graphics mods which aren't outdated and get a mod to fix the bugs which doesn't make the game easier.

I think I still have this on my computer, it was pretty fun but a bit weird, can't wait for it to fully release though.
I've made steady progress in modifying the RK-95 to my liking, however there remains one singular issue. I'll fix it manually as soon as I figure out how.
I started my work with this:

Now I am aware that this is fixed in Patch 2.0.2 but since that would override a lot of the community tweaks AND require a new game, I figured it'd be best not to use it right now. Besides the gameplay so far has been quite enjoyable. Anyway, I fixed w_sako.ltx by changing line 12 from
description = wpn_sako_descr
to
description = st_wpn_sako_descr
Then all I had to do was add this in st_items_weapons.xml...right?
<string id="st_wpn_sako">
<text>Sako RK-95</text>
</string>
<string id="st_wpn_sako_descr">
<text>\n \n%c[0,153,255,255] • %c[0,140,140,140] Class proficiency: %c[0,204,0,51]low\n \n%c[0,170,170,170]The RK 95 TP (known commercially as the M95) is a 7.62x39mm Finnish assault rifle adopted by the Finnish Defence Forces in the 1990s in relatively small numbers. </string>
Now, here is where I'm stuck.

The description works fine and dandy, but I can't seem to find where it takes the name from. Certainly the st_items_weapons.xml doesn't seem to supply it.
EDIT, READ!:
I do also acknowledge that I am an amateur scrub modder for the X-Ray engine just messing around trying to adjust a ready product to my own tastes, nothing more. Should Beac, Panzer, Loner or other modders have an idea how this slight hiccup could be circumvented, I'd be deeply grateful to hear it.
Oh and when I was messing around with it, I wondered why nobody has ported Millenia's RK-95 model from ShoC over to CoP? Is it an engine thing? Because I checked and the CoP model is absolutely terrible when you look at it closely; whoever made it misaligned the sights, screwed up the peeping hole of the rear sights and did not understand that RKs, most specifically models of year -95 prefer using NATO optics instead of Warsaw pact optics.
It could be that it's a difficult thing to do and nobody has had the time yet. It's just one gun to other people amongst many so it doesn't have high priority, but I would be interested in hearing more information about this, good or bad.

change (in the sako's weapon config file)
inv_name (or something like this)
to the string id above your description, "st_wpn_sako" or change that id simply to "wpn_sako_name". Either way works
How do you guys get Build 1935 to be stable? Even with the fan fixes it crashes for me anywhere between 5-15 minutes and saves don't load.
Please leave your log in here BS12 :)
@[Green]
Yes, porting is indeed a difficult thing to do because of the engine differences and the animation problems. Takes some time yeah

Same, I couldn't load a level past the garbage and it would crash while transitioning.
Sleeping worked for me though, and the 1935 Cordon is a lot bigger than release version.
The tall grass might have helped in that regard though.

It seems to work without a hitch! No other issues have appeared so far, although if I ever think about getting more involved in STALKER tweaking and modding of all sorts I might want to try and see if I can't get an ACOG on this model. Probably would require modelling things too, but...who knows, maybe one day.
Thanks for the quick reply tho

not meaning to interrupt you two cheeki breekis but, what patch would be the best for getting my friend's game that constantly crashes (without crash logs apparently) to run stable in SP? i never had problems with mine but he apparently cant play through it without it crashing.
:v:
anyone who knows feel free to chime in.
spasibo.
I literally just stumbled across that a while ago wow
Anybody know how to create a compatibility patch for the reanimation project and atmosfear?
I want the pistol animations because I hate the default reload, but it will just crash with atmosfear as it is now.
Have you gotten it sorted out? There shouldn't be any conflicts, Atmosfear changes textures and some weather files but no animations AFAIK, paste the crashlog from your clipboard, if there are any files that conflict use winmerge, if they're textures/etc use your discretion and just experiment and see what crashes/what doesn't, mod merging is a very messy process.

Lukash's "Destroy the Duty company" mission isn't supposed to piss off the rest of Duty, correct? Because I did that mission, plus the snitch and barrier missions, and was immediately assaulted when I went back to the bar. I even refused to actually join Freedom (via ZRP option), so they're all still neutral. ZRP is the only mod I'm using. Is this normal?

Both mods have their own particles.xr which will cause one to mess up the other unfortunately.

Update to 1.005 if you aren't already, are you 100% positive there is no log? Do you mean it just has stack trace? What is he doing when he crashes, if he keeps crashing it try downloading Zone Reclamation Project

Confusing as fuck.
Log Entry # 1:
I wish to escape from this hell-hole. The call of danger and the many promises of 'riches' aren't worth the pain and suffering that the zone inflicts upon those who reside within her. Pornography magazines are scarce, and I can't seem to find
anything else that will let my mind escape this horrid cell. I've seen it all, all the pain and suffering, and I can't keep my mind off any of it. I've made mistakes that haunt me and I break-down in anger and frustration whenever they
cross my mind. Yet, I hope this method will ease my mind, even if it's a little bit. I just feel like I can't take this anymore.
I came to the zone exactly 4 months ago. I look back at myself and see a stupid 22 year old and a friend that reflected the same image I emit. We both started doing shit work for a trader at the so-called 'Cordon.' We both realized how
dangerous this work was, so we made a name for ourselves. We called ourselves the "Cordon Spiders." Only 3 other loners joined me and my friend for an easy ride. We'd catch lone stalkers to demand a share of their loot, or we'd just down-right
fleece them to their clothes.
A dispute broke out between our gang. We all left and went our separate ways at gun-point (my friend stuck with me of course.) About 3 days later, me and my pal were completely lost and a serious lack of food was affecting us. I was starving.
I had nothing, nothing but a few bullets that were still loaded in my AKs-74U, the clothes on my back, and the company of my dear friend. As soon as I found him asleep... I slit his throat. We used to watch each other during our 'adventure' through
the zone. We looked after each other as if we shared the same flesh and blood. Yet, I took his life. I took his life so I could take his remaining bread. I wanted nothing more than to live.
Not knowing what to do, or where to go, I headed north. I came across a faction that resides in some kind of warehouse. They refer to themselves as "Freedom." Nice men, welcoming to most who tread their way. They offered their
hospitality. I took a moment to remember that I wasn't welcome at the Cordon, and the garbage was/is a war zone between multiple factions, I felt like all I could do was accept. So I did.
Hospitality and safety came with a price. I could either fight for their ideologies, or receive a walk in a minefield. I did the obvious and preserved my life for as long as possible. I've been wearing Freedom colors and playing
soldiers with other factions for 3 months straight.
I led 3 raids on the other factions. A raid on Duty has led to its extinction. A raid on the bandit base in the Dark Valley has proved a success, and reports of muggings/fleecing has dropped dramatically.
About a week ago, I led a raid into the Yantar, hoping to break the mercs. I did so, unsuccessfully... The mercs had the advantage. They were holed up in some kind of bunker, large objects around it
provided them cover. We were out in the open, little to no cover, taking fire from zombies and dozens of well trained men, we were forced to retreat. Freedom lost 28 men that day, I witnessed their deaths through my Mosin-Nagant from a safe and cowardly distance.
I watched 28 sons die. I saw the blood of 28 brothers color the mud. I watched the bodies of 28 grand-children lay lifeless on the ground. I set up the deaths of many loved ones. I felt my heart hurt. I needed to get away.
Pulling the last of the men, we headed back to base. 3 out of the 8 men that survived, died of radiation sickness. It came to me without surprise, the Yantar is polluted with radiation, and many of these men didn't have the protection
to endure such a thing.
It's been a week since the raid on the Mercenary faction. I've been ordered to raid the mercs again once the next emission ends. I honestly don't want to go back. I don't want to lead these raid anymore...but I tarnished my reputation among loners,
and I have been forced to bear a new name. I'm left with little choice.
