S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

I just finished CoP for the first time and I wanna try either Redux or Misery. Which one do you guys recommend?
Lukash's "Destroy the Duty company" mission isn't supposed to piss off the rest of Duty, correct? Because I did that mission, plus the snitch and barrier missions, and was immediately assaulted when I went back to the bar. I even refused to actually join Freedom (via ZRP option), so they're all still neutral. ZRP is the only mod I'm using. Is this normal?
the duty guys in the military warehouses have a lot of friends in Duty. People in Duty who weren't friends with Skull and his boys won't attack you, but Skull's friends will.

Try out both. Redux is a very tight, polished experience that makes the game harder but doesn't stray too far from vanilla, while Misery tries, successfully and sometimes unsuccessfully to change the atmosphere and gameplay to be a lot harsher.

It depends on what kind of experience you want. Redux makes the vanilla game more difficult all while adding some nice touches to it. Misery changes quite a whole lot and is apparently also quite difficult. If you want a completely different experience than what you get from either of those mods then look no further than SGM. Version 2.1 is the average SGM experience with no new levels and Version 2.2 adds new areas to explore. It's your pick man!
SGM sounds like it'd be the mod I play after I beat CoP.
What kind of experience is it? How does it differ from vanilla?

It's Russian.

SGM adds a boatload of new content. New weapons, new equipment, bankers, traders, and missions. That's just the tip of the iceberg and only V2.1. Now with V2.2 it has all of that but new levels such as Cordon and Red Forest.
Does anyone have a link to the latest SGM? I might try it out, it's been awhile since I played it.

I honestly think CoP's version of Xray looks gorgeous, especially with stuff like absolute nature. If at the time GSC had spent more time on it to work on stuff like better shaders for things like skin and such I'd say it could rival a lot of top modern game engines.

You sold me. I really want to play in SoC levels in CoP for some reason.
For the new stuff how's the animations? Do they reuse vanilla animations or are they custom (and if so do they fit well with vanilla or are they terrible?)
Actually I think they use Clear Skies' versions of most of the maps, don't they? I know they use CS Cordon, the Defiance base is still there sans faction. At least as I recall, I'm pretty sure I spent the night there one time.
Does anyone know of a mod like CS Reloaded that A: works for 1.5.10 and B: isn't Clear Skies (as much as I do enjoy that mod, it's currently unfinished, and i'm looking to play through til the end).
Looking for something that doesn't take away the original storyline, but improves on all it's mechanics and features.

Pretty sure it's mixed. The vanilla weapons have vanilla animations and the new ones (mostly) have new ones. The new animations are adequate for the guns they use them on.

Yep they're the Clear Sky maps. It makes sense to use them in CoP because they do generally look better than their SoC counterparts. Also the Defiance faction is definitely there (I think the tunnel north of Kopachi Village), I helped them do some stuff but man when you help them defend their base it's just brutal.

Then play Reloaded. Or you want tons of new stuff like SGM?
Then play Reloaded. Or you want tons of new stuff like SGM?
Reloaded doesn't work on 1.5.10, last version iirc was for 1.5.08.
New stuff would be pretty good, but preferably balanced rather than large quantities.

I think i'll try that CS Redux, now that I have actually found a good source of all the necessary and latest files.

Seems last version of Redux was for 1.5.06. I completely cannot be arsed either downgrading CS or fixing compatibility :/
Does Misery 2.0 have any revolvers other than the GP100?
I fixed one I grabbed off the floor up, and tested it against the bandits on the shevchenko raid. First 3 shots with HP downed three bandits, and I finished the last off with the last 3 (I missed 2 shots, I am terrible). The thing is accurate, seems to be reliable, and is incredibly fun. Pity it can only get 1st tier upgrades, which is why I am interested in other revolvers, though I doubt there will be any more in .357.
Also, does the .357 incendiary penetrate armour? Max penetration for it is N/A, whilst the .357 HP claims to penetrate up to Class IV iirc. Since it is N/A, I am assuming it doesn't penetrate at all, though it could be the opposite, and it penetrates all...

Ahh, found the weapon appendix, so I can read that to see about more revolvers. Not sure about the .357 incendiary though.
Aww man, it's the only revolver. It's listed as modern in the appendix though, so it might be possible that I can find a modern version, rather than my current, no suffix version, which might be able to have more modifications.

Ahem...
Beta version with manual installation. Works with retail and Steam versions.
Version 0.8.5
Compatibility:
----------------------------------------
Designed for Stalker Clear sky version 1.5.10 ( the latest patch you can found)
----------------------------------------
Bought some new PC bits, might finally be able to enjoy Misery maxed on max resolution.
the person in question is using vanilla SoC, btw i remember hearing of a mod for SoC that had banks but i forgot its name. anyone tried it?
again spasibo.
Spasyba*
Anybody got a link for the The faction war mod?
I finally uninstalled TFW. It got too grind and boring and for some reason I'd never get friendly enough with any faction to join them, so I just gave up.
You can join the Mercs without having to do anything.
if anyone has experience making shaders for stalker, plz hit me up

No experience here, but have you tried contacting Cromm about it? He may know about stuff like that. Or perhaps try using SweetFX for shaders.

to clarify, he's talking about material shaders

Material shaders?
Oh. Well, Cromm is still a good option, or the guy who works on RELOADED. I think he's done some shader work with materials.
I don't remember ZoA being 7.5gb
Whoa.

Yeah, I figured as much.
