Thanks, I love that mod.
The only cool thing I found in Dead City mod is PDA-styled radar. Looks really good.

where the fuck am i right now ?
Hahaha I got this one as well one time, except my body was on acid because it was constantly being pulled to multiple directions (the bones stuck through the walls) Like when you shoot a body with an OP weapon, the body like ... morphs into some blob until it trips out of the level
Time to see how STALKER handles 8 cores.
Woo~
If it even uses them that is.

Ah... Painful experience you're gonna go through
inb4 dumb:
AMD's Octocores aren't well used in games today, especially the older STALKER series. There's almost no games out there utilising more than 4 rigid cores / 4+2 cores (2 being mirrored out of the remaining power of the rest resulting in 2 'extra' non physical cores). The last one is already very rare, let alone AMD's new 8xxx Cores.
You will probably experience some lags because I've got recent reports (with MISERY aka CoP) about Octocores handling the stalker games very poorly. Why? Stalker doesn't recognise you having 8 cores, thus will only make use of core 1/8. This can ofcourse be different in your situation, but it's just an FYI if you do get lag etc.
Just after starting a new game in AMK I went out of Sids bunker and right after the exit a fire anomaly burnt my ass. In panic I rushed towards the village and I got toasted by a electric anomaly just after three steps.
Such is life in AMK.

I can only assume Windows 8 will make it much worse.
Nothing I can do about that though i'll just have to see how it handles when I set its core affinity and all that jazz.

Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry if this was posted already
I hope you can join a bandit faction and hold up players to steal their equipment instead of just killing them. It would be really cool if territory control was player driven and who was a definite enemy was determined by if you join one of the factions.
The enemies in Misery are just fucking bonkers. Even the lowest level stalkers and bandits wearing crap take a few rounds to die more than I do wearing armor almost seemingly regardless of what gun I use, or where I hit them. They have some crazy accuracy even with that hardcore AI off.
I'm enjoying a challenge when it feels good, but there's times where this just feels bonkers.
The only thing that really bothers me about the misery AI is the grenade throwing
Pinpoint accuracy every time, and they have them in seemingly limitless supply

yeah, I was running away from some guys, I turned around, sighted them and they were probably about 100 yards away. One of them tosses a grenade in front of where I was running, and killed me instantly. I was flabbergasted by that shit.
There's an option in the game controls to turn off "infinite enemy ammo"

I'm pretty sure I have it disabled and that doesn't seem to change anything

Untick infinite NPC ammo, makes things more fair.
And they did that in Clear Sky already.
Honestly, if I hadn't played through CoP already, I'd have given up on Misery by now.
It's punishing as all fuck just in terms of "well you've got guns, but they're not worth anything, you've got a gun that's not broken? there's no ammo for it anywhere" leading to you just not being able to kill enemies who don't deal with the same weapon jams you'd deal with their guns, and seemingly don't run out of ammo even with that box ticked off.
it's pretty great besides some faults with repairing weapons(The kit disappears after, that hardly seems realistic to me, seems like it was done to make the game harder, not more real) and the aforementioned problems.

The repair kit thing surprised me. I figured they'd be like the unopened rations; usable several times before wearing off to offset their expensiveness. As another downside their repair percentage would go lower the more used they were.

Un ticking the option only disabled infinite ammo for NPCs primary weapons. When they run out, they'll switch to a sidearm, which has infinite ammo.
Iirc.

That is nice. I may have to try and take that part out and use it by itself.

it kind of ruins it for me.
repairing a weapon is a massive cost, on your own or not and that cost isn't offset by ammo being more common, or more useful, or more effective.
I just died because my only rifle jammed on the first round it fired(not even getting a round off) two reloads in a row, minutes after I repaired it as best I could afford to, while a dog was trying to maul me(may have been a cougar)

I suppose the difference is the lack of a grenade indicator.
Controllers cause texture tearing like an absolute motherfucker and ruin the game. Kind of getting to the point where I'm just going to not play Misery

the "purgatory" anomaly, you need to get off the island by defeating the smokesucker
I've been playing around with writing some stalker fiction, and I thought I'd share a little excerpt with you and hear what you all think. I want to explore some elements of the Zone that I think are understated or forgotten in most stalker stories, and are fairly well represented in the Metro series. I am referring to the spiritual side of things. As appropriate as ghosts and such are in Metro, I think they honestly have better justification in the Zone, as well as being quite fitting. None of that for you all yet, but if you like this, maybe you'll see more of Misha the reporter.
I'm not the best for critiquing stories. So all I can really give are my first impressions, which basically add up to "I wanna read more". STALKER fan fiction is dominate.

I have plans to continue Reporter's little tour of the Zone, it's just about connecting all the little stops on the way. I wanna spend time on population levels in the Zone, as well as faction relations, anomaly detection, as well as drug use in the Zone. The last thing was what inspired this little project. So far as I know, it's only been touched so far as, "Freedom smokes weed, and everyone drinks vodka," which is a shame since that's such an underdeveloped exploration of the element. I suspect that's because the clear sky developers probably had limited experience in that department, but I face no such constraints in that regard.
This was posted on the LA ModDB page. I had no idea GSC left this in the release build of SoC

Finally reached Zaton in SGM. Glad to put the Swamps behind me for now. I don't think it'll be that bad if I come back with better gear, but it was a drag running through with a basic suit and mask.
