The Swamps aren't that bad in the latest patch and SRP - Clear Sky was actually helpful in my latest runs and actively took objectives so it wasn't such a drag it used to be in the early patches. I'm not sure how much is SRP's (/ karstux ironsight fix's) doing but the game felt much more better balanced than pure vanilla ; the bleeding is no longer so horrible (though it's more noticeable than in the other games) and the enemies drop reliably from 6-8 torso shots with a makarov. Even the machinegun is bearable because you don't have to fight it but I remember cursing it many times on my first runs through the section. There's some bad bullet-sponging going on at times though because of the invulnerability frames during animations.

This shit's pretty cool, if anyone plays CSGO here.
I do play CSGO and I will get some peeps together to play on that map sometime.
I'm sorry but some russian mods don't have any sense for fashion or style [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/23/22506/wmplayer_2013-08-30_12-27-42-08.jpg[/t] More area's are always awesome but ... why the horrible textures :v: irks me to see a map like this, or like really low-res weapon textures / just bad textures overall out there. I mean, MISERY's brown is one thing, sure the zone doesn't look like that 24/7, @365 days of the year, but it's still plausible that it will look like that in autumn yet some russians tear the whole zone apart like a real nuke dropped. Grunge textures everywhere, everything dark, including the hud and weapon textures. That's what I dislike most about some of the big mix-up mods out there. There's no sense of style for the mod and I'm a stylistic person. /end rant In some other news, Path of The Zone updated! New Area's in the make [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/24/23267/LevelEditor_2013-08-29_23-32-06-27.png[/t]
Is it frowned upon to skip doing a vanilla playthrough and just move on to a mod? I'm about halfway through SoC, but I'm finding it too easy for my liking.

But shoc... you HAVE to finish it, no matter the difficulty. It really is the best out of all 3 games and there's different endings depending on your actions in game. Try finishing it, maybe throw in a texture pack, or darker nights mod or some other nifty little addon making life more enjoyable in the zone :) But for me, finish it. No matter the cost ...
Is it frowned upon to skip doing a vanilla playthrough and just move on to a mod? I'm about halfway through SoC, but I'm finding it too easy for my liking.
Play on [del]Master[/del] Wizard.
Is it frowned upon to skip doing a vanilla playthrough and just move on to a mod? It gets very difficult in the NPP trust me. oh and Loner what mod is that in the first picture~ That is some extreme wizardry.
IF you'd be playing CoP or CS, I'd say use mods.
Get out of here, Stalker! All 3 games must be played vanilla-only on the first playthrough.
Get out of here, Stalker! All 3 games must be played vanilla-only on the first playthrough.
He said halfway through + it was too easy. Hence why I said that :v:
am i incredibly old fashioned when i say i've only got SoC and oblivion lost
am i incredibly old fashioned when i say i've only got SoC and oblivion lost
The mod or the 'recreation' ?

Yet I'm still blowing through it like it's nothing.
The mod or the 'recreation' ?
i don't know that's how old fashioned
That's the thing, I am playing on Master. Yet I'm still blowing through it like it's nothing.
are you asian by any chance
He said halfway through + it was too easy. Hence why I said that :v:
Define "half-way through" in SoC. If it's too easy then he should play on Master and pay attention to story. [editline]31st August 2013[/editline]
are you asian by any chance
Judging by his avatar - he is.

I've bookmarked them for later. Hopefully things will get harder for me by the time I'm in Pripyat or even the NPP.
Reloaded is also pretty good, and insanely good looking :) But I dont think it's savegame compatible.
do the "good" ending at the NPP, and say what happened when you've finished that - maybe i am at the other end of the spectrum but i died a lot there
Same, though I kept on falling of the stupid concrete at the end :v: Also fell down on the outside of the CNPP level, without a staircase / antirad. So many fuckups really
CNPP: Take an anti-rad every 3 seconds.

Just finished watching Stalker, damn good movie, though I felt conflicted because in the games I side with Duty but [sp]When the professor took out the bomb I was practically yelling at the screen hoping he wouldn't blow up the wish granter and ruin the zone and felt incredibly bad for the Stalker[/sp] Maybe I should just stick to being a Loner in Stalker instead of joining Duty.

The Zone of the games is a beautiful but devious place full of many dangers to the outside world; the Zone from the film is isolated, quiet, and has its own means of fishing out those who shouldn't make it to the Room (and punishing them accordingly). The Duty fans can argue for the destruction of the Zone in the games, but I don't know of many who would want to see the Zone of the film destroyed. On an almost unrelated note, Andrei Tarkovsky's an awesome director. His Stalker actually helps me to fall asleep at night for whatever reason. Probably because the only thing you really hear besides the sounds of the Zone is the characters talking.

You will never look at SOC the same again.
The Soup changed my perspective. Every day I wake up, and scream at myself in the mirror.

So I've been thinking, what would packs of the different kinds of mutants be called? I'm thinking a group of Flesh could maybe called a blob of Flesh.
