Is there a way to add weapons from other mods to another mod? Is it as simple as dragging a few folders and adding them in?
Is there a way to add weapons from other mods to another mod? Is it as simple as dragging a few folders and adding them in?
Haha, no. God no. Oh, you're in for a miserable time :v:
Haha, no. God no. Oh, you're in for a miserable time :v:
I think it's pretty easy. But I'm biased :v:
This is the X-ray engine. If the whole god damn game crashes when it even tries to load a weapon that happens to have a missing texture, well then [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] Damn, just played some build 1935. The levels are so small in SoC it's painful.
I'm posting too much, but what the hell What could i possibly add more to the Doom's SHOC merge, like weapon packs, graphic mods etc..? Here's what it contains right now
STALKER Shaders MAX 1.00 Kingo64

Latest version is 1.06. Probably best to chuck them in instead.
Latest version is 1.06. Probably best to chuck them in instead.
What's the date of this build?
I think it's pretty easy. But I'm biased :v:
Oh it's not a difficult task, but time-consuming as hell, depending on the amount of weapons. If the other mod one is merging the weapons into already has custom items or weapons of it's own, that makes it even more so.
Freeplay start contains my faction wars mod? Since when?
Freeplay start contains my faction wars mod? Since when?
That I think is a very old merge of the 2 done by someone else a long time ago. When I was first making my freeplay start mod merge, I noticed a Freeplay Start + Faction Wars on the Stalker Filefront mod listing.
Apparently there is going to be a new expansion pack for Narodnaya Solyanka. http://www.amk-team.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=12647&page=2
All I want is MISERY but without the controller related bugs and the horribly strange bullet physics and that weird frame stutter I kept getting and I'd be happy as fuck. SGM is too weird and fucky. MISERY is pretty god damn great and actually adds some cool, thoughtful ideas to the process, just kinda feels like the shooting's a slight bit cocked up.

Show's how much attention I pay. :v: [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] Just to clarify I've absolutely no problems with it being included. I was just unaware it was in there. I am actually quite honored that people use my work. Just wanted to clear that up in-case someone got the idea I was trying to be a bit of a dick.
Oh jesus I really can't play SoC anymore, even with mods.
I had that same feeling some time ago and after examining one of the key reasons I find this is because the level order is so linear and while the A-Life is the most varied and unpredictable out of the three games it's severely limited by the constants of spawning and the limitations of the maps meaning that the conflicts of factions or what the player will be meeting can be predicted very easily because take for example the Wild Territory ; the mercs will just respawn to the same location every time instead of the CoP style system where they roam into different areas and only spend a limited time on each bonfire / camp (which is understandable because of the way the levels work) but it still means every time you go from place to place the same sequence repeats. There would be less of a problem if the SoC levels had the maps laid out like Clear Sky has - with multiple exits and entrances to each level and a less linear level structure where you could go from Cordon through Swamps to Agroprom or Dark Valley / Garbage and the A-Life would choose different routes occasionally so more unpredictable and varying situations would be created. Doom's Mod Merge (or Xiani's Freeplay Start) kind of feel more fresh because of the new level changers (as well as A.I using them too, not just the player) accomplishing a lot of that and the less restricted A-Life keeps things much more fresh and the only real dynamic that is missing from the bunch is the chance for random emissions / horror time. It also helps that one doesn't have to constantly re-do the starting missions until you get into the "game proper". I may be a bit too optimistic but I'm looking forward to when ZoA will add Predbannik and Great Swamp into it because I believe it will help in building a less worn and torn earlygame at the very least.

Just wanted to clear that up in-case someone got the idea I was trying to be a bit of a dick.
Until you pointed that out, I had forgotten what mods were included in my merge, since it's been so long since I worked on it; had to dig up the archive from the depths of my computer and check the readme again :v: I never really expected people to really take to playing it in the manner they have (it was originally just a duct-taped ball of mods for my own personal amusement), so I figured crediting the original mod makers was enough. Should've really at least messaged people about it, but i'm glad that oversight on my behalf isn't an issue. The readme afaik includes everything I used, but man, the original Freeplay Start has so much Russian wizardry in it that i've no idea what the bloke originally included beyond what he wrote on his readme. Was a pain in the arse when attempting to fix the AI bugs, since there's so many arcane scripts whose purpose is utterly unfathomable :v:
What's the date of this build?
Oct 18 2004 Probably
Oct 18 2004 Probably
I quoted Kingo's reply for a reason :v: I meant his shader build
I quoted Kingo's reply for a reason :v: I meant his shader build
1935
God you guys... I'll just look at his site myself :v: [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] 27 Jan 2012 18:57 so it is. I wanted to know this because i wanted to see if my shader package was still relevant.
Holy fuck this CoP SDK is a pain in the ass.
Holy fuck this CoP SDK is a pain in the ass.
Any and every Xray-SDK is, now tell me your annoyances.
Whatcha trying to do exactly?
I'm just messing with it currently trying to learn how just spawn items like weapons and stuff. Rotation isn't working at all. Moving the item somewhat works but it lags like shit. I get spammed by the log. And finally, it sometimes just reloads the level for some reason. [editline]getout[/editline] I guess I have to rotate using the properties menu.

Lower left tab, first one [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] Also the lagging is normal, Xray is actually not real time, so it's not what you see is what you get. Unlike newer engines.

Doom's mod merge is one of my fav mods except for the fact that the weather cycle repeats itself every 24 hours. That and the fact the firefights feel very easy compared to ZoA and the economy iirc being kinda cheap.
Should I set it to real time? It was off for me when I launched it.
Yes, set it to real time. Also, what render quality are you running at? Well, first give me your screen res. The SDK has problems with high res screens and fucks up at anything higher than 100% iirc. It will warp the vision in some weird kind of way when set at < 100% Also, preferences is your best friend. Try and fundle a bit with the draw distance, I've got it set at a really low amount to keep performance quite steady :)

I'll take a look at preferences though.

It will give you a huge performance boost, trust me :)

Seriously though, I wonder when and what age will it be when LA has it's release date finally decided for real.
