S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians - Games

Okay I'm playing totally vanilla now but I'm still pretty pissed you can't load Complete saves. I got so far...

It's just the way the game is. You are free from the stain of which complete has soiled you.

about Sourceshift post... sure it looks ambitious and all of that but from what i could see the Xray engine is extreamly unstable and mainly a paint to work with unless you know exactly what you are doing, and from all the features that will be in the mod.. Isnt it better if he just recreates it in a better engine? i.e UDK, CryEngine or whatever

I played Complete once. I almost puked. Not because of how horrible it was, but because of how bland it was.

I have to admit. more i play people soup , more i like the mod. can't stop playing it

Why do [B]everyone[/B] hate that mod?

Complete in and itself doesn't do anything particularly heinous, it's just an obsolete mod yet it enjoys extreme popularity and gets always recommended to first-time players pretty much everywhere but here. The people who recommend Complete aren't being malevolent on purpose but they're doing a disservice to the new player because like Garik said, it waters down the experience and makes it really bland while not adding anything meaningful (the acclaimed "bugfixes" it features are often obsolete) and in the case of CoP Complete actually causes save corruptions to an otherwise relatively bug-free game and for CS / CoP you can get the exact, if not better, graphical fixes separately. Clear Sky Complete isn't [I]that[/I] bad because for once it's bugfixing features are okay and because a lot of people aren't unfortunately but understandably willing to give Clear Sky a chance and just want to power through it, making the gameplay slightly less frustrating may be a very welcome feature as well! [editline]herp[/editline] As a bottom line : I don't really have a huge beef with Complete, for all intents and purposes it has gotten a fair few players who wouldn't otherwise give this game a shot get hooked into the series and that's a positive thing but what chafes a lot of people about it how it's marketed to new players as some sort of a "must have" mod which it really is not.

I remember when I couldn't wait for Clear Sky to be released I got a Russian copy and had to use the machine translation. I did the same for Call of Pripyat too. The confusion in the games with strange text and errors is an accurate representation of how I would be like in the zone because being a Britbong I don't know any other language except German.
