Reminds me of the illustrations from that English-language book GSC spewed out a while ago.
Misery 2

Save Scumming: The Game
Is Misery better now? I'm playing SGM. 2.2(or russian wizardy), and would like to try something else. Thinking about Soup(durr, wrong game, but yeah), but a new version is coming out soon? I would want to play the next version of CoP: Redux, but we won't have that soon enough(right?).
Misery firefights are one of the bests I have seen in a while. With the 2.0.2 patch plus QF it is really amazing. 100% recommended from someone who is constantly looking for polished and balanced content.
The only complain? FN FAL damage is lower than AN94
Just started playing Misery 2 yesterday as Recon on the Black Road.
I was able to kill all the Zombies around me because once they focus on you they all gather in the same spot looking in the same direction and you can just cut them down one by one if you run around a building. Though I don't really feel much satisfaction from that, it just makes the begining of the game more annoying than anything else. Whatever, I suppose I'll still continue with this character.
Also, is it just me or is the animation for running with the PPSh-41 broken? It just basically swing left and right. and nothing else.

I just rage quitted from Misery (2.0), I was just doing the standard mission where you sneak in and get the information from the mercenaries, done it several times in vanilla and older sgm versions. As soon as I got close to the outside of the processing facility(the area outside the walls, not the building), the 3-4 mercs shoot me all at the same time with silenced and mega-pimped out assault rifles, with the fire rate of a minigun or something, instantly killing me. It was night, I didn't have my flashlight on, and I was sneaking, and made sure that I didn't go into a bush or anything that can make a sound.
I try again, and then I went down the hill and up again. Trying to sneak in, then they all was moving to the place where I died/was last time, or so I thought. I sneaked behind them, and only one guy was really left behind. Watching the entrence I wanted to go in to, I take out my knife and try to stab him in the head from behind. It does nothing, and in 1 second, around 15+ mercs shoot at my direction. (I was playing as the sniper class. I know that they have reduced melee damage, but what the hell?)
I tried picking them off with my scoped mosin, worked until all of them stormed me at the same time (kinda cool but couldn't do anything). I tried sneaking in and shoot a saw-off in their neck/back head. It worked, but in 1 second there was always one merc who could shoot me, no matter where I ran.
I've managed to do this quest in Redux, SGM 2.1 and vanilla. All three on Master. What am I doing wrong?
Got a weird bug with Misery that if I stay on the main menu for too lock everything locks up, and if I hit escape the game gives me weird graphical artifacts until I alt-tab and come back. Then it fixes it until I stay on the main menu for too long again. It's manageable, but I'm wondering why it does this.
What am I doing wrong?
If you only have the starter equipment you should consider saving the Water Plant until you've geared up sufficiently. As per the combat itself goes long-range firefights against such numerous opponents that can pop up from so many spots in the complex and effectively one-hit you is more often than not straight up suicide so personally I'd consider duking it out in close quarters as much as possible.

You played in 2.0 which is broken and buggy as hell. The MiseryDevTeam fixed these errors with a serie of patches. The last one addresses many things including AI awareness and combat abilities.
You also need to take into account that the only class capable of 100% sneaking is recon. Check out the tips in the loading screen and everything that is written. Nothing is just "per se" or there for no reason.
Long range combat in the plant is a suicide should you not have a sniper, because NPCs will constantly lob grenades at you flushing you and then picking you out.
You can clear the facility with a 1911 and DU rounds provided you managed to get into it.

Going to try with the patches now, and try as recon (new save).

> Atmosphere of SHoC
> Visual fidelity of CoP
> Nostalgic feeling of b1935
> Improved xray engine
> Improved SDK
These 5 points do it for me. LA will be THE base for people to build future mods on, merely because of the technical additions and fixes they did. God, they're so awesome :)
Yeah, if it ever comes out! :P
That CNPP screen made me wet in no-time.
Damn you, Dezowave!

I'll give it 2 days before someone chops in Lurk Weapons or something of the sort.

I purposefully held off on that until I had all my goodies in order.. Stimpaks, Kevlar suit attachments, and an overcoat (much better than the starter jacket, but slightly weaker than the "heavy" overcoat). I had to sneak in with a silenced AK and a bunch of IEDs to boobytrap the entire East wing of the complex. Then it was a matter of sneaking around and picking off the stragglers.
Don't put too much stock into the "armor" bar on your HUD- I find it's all about the ratings in the description. Those mercs are all mostly veterans, too, which is reflected by their customized weapons and enhanced ammunition.
On 2.0.0 vs 2.0.2: patch it up ASAP. The changelog reveals that they nerfed the selling prices of various items, but since patching I have consistently found more parts, equipment, and fellow stalkers to interact with overall.. I'd definitely say it's a must after slogging through Zaton with a 0% jacket for most of it.
P.S. Secret Stash, use at the peril of your own masochistic experience: [sp]Teleport Entrance located behind the Iron Forest.. It will bring you behind the fence to a chest with all sorts of relevant gear, including a 100% pistol.[/sp]

Coolio, thanks. But I managed to shoot the shit out of them, my style. I actually did it somehow. I went for a recon instead, managed to kill two of them, pick up one of their assault rifles, almost in pieces. Only 24 rounds, took down 7 with those. Found a SVD, started to pop headshots and eventually there was no one left. Managed to win some close fights with a really awesome pistol. Picked up all the shit I thought was worth any money, and the laptop, PDA. I died 9-11 times, but through the magic power that's called quick-saving. I made it (and some luck).
Now, I have a pistol that's amazing for its small caliber, pretty upgraded as well. But I have to say, I got much less money then what I thought from all the stuff I looted.
Do you guys recommend Stalker Reloaded?
Do you guys recommend the Stalker Complete mods?

(note: this is not a serious post)
Hey, let's not forget all the new Lost Alpha gameplay mechanics such as upgrades, RPG leveling, online chating with NPCs, actual cars with proper physics and use (trunk), artifact mixer, etc etc.
Being able to cooperate with the military is my fav one. Loyal to the original STALKER lore.
I wonder if they re-implemented the "Lower you weapon" as GSC originally intended. I recall watching a video with a NPC opening fire or threatening the player if he doesn't lower his weapon.
And then there's stuff in the English community like "ELITE MOD 2013 Stalker_ShOC International ver.01"
I've enjoyed the first version of this mod a lot a few years ago, it's actually very well balanced, and the interface is pretty convenient. (And it looks way better ingame than the authour show in his... Hem... artistics screenshots)
Do you guys recommend Stalker Reloaded?
Do not, I repeat, do not play the SHOC version. I've made this a long time ago and it's way too buggy today. Play OGSE or L.U.R.K instead. (If you are thinking about the CS and COP version, however, I invite you to take a look here to see If these have what you want: http://www.moddb.com/members/clear-strelok/mods I've also made some videos for the COP version recently: )
Oh, and talking about OGSE...
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.
OGSE really is THE mod I've been waiting for for such a long time. They always push the engine yet again to another level.
And the puddle doesn't even look fake or out of place. Kudos
I won't jump to conclusions yet, but I do hope they managed to really make it water not just a shader effect, so that if you step through it you hear the walking in water effect, otherwise it'll just break the atmosphere a bit

prof. vasiliev and a whole lot of "little water" :v:
Wow, that dynamic puddle thing is crazy. I'm always surprised what people are able to accomplish with the X-ray engine. Is it just that moddable and flexible? You wouldn't think it from how often it just crashes for no reason. :v:

I heard once that the more complex programming gets, the easier it crashes.
If that's the case xRay engine is the most sophisticated piece of programming gaming has ever seen and that kind of makes me sad and wanting to laugh at the same time.

No the early X-Ray engines and even the latest iteration are just badly made and cannot handle null functions, syntax errors or other little problems well.
At-least it doesn't always crash in COP with a missing texture now.
Wasn't X-Ray made so that if any error in the program's contents appears it forces the game to crash? Technically if it wouldn't crash it'd be identical to a number of other game engines.

Yes, IIRC it was made like that on purpose. I don't get why though. I'd rather have the AI flip their shits when I'm playing than the game crashing because of a null error.
