What about a sort of interior haze effect? A little fog/mist hanging around the ceiling in the x-labs or a cloud or cigarette smoke in the bar would be pretty awesome.

Muzzle Flashes
Anomalies
Shell ejection particles (both left and right)
Static effects (steam, distortion etc.)
Weather effects (bigger fog, more stable, new flies etc.)

I'd like to see some interior effects, a la the occupied areas of Metro. Stove flames, smoke, like the guy earlier mentioned, steam coming from pots, and so on.
Stuff for other interiors would be nice, too: a range of drips would be nice.

Would bleeding particles be possible?
There's already mods that spawn blood textures under a bleeding NPC, but if there were some kind of blood particle like drops or even a stream of blood gushing out of an open wound it'd looks gorier. If not for bleeding, maybe oomph up the default blood spatters that occur when hitting a mutant or stalker with boolets?
oh and i found the disintegrative effect of whirligigs wholly unsatisfying. I'd imagine it to leave behind a thick red mist instead of several blood emitting gibs. I don't know if it's possible tho.
Most of that is possible, even the gushing blood BUT, there's 1 downside. It emits from 1 place, so if I'd make the blood like pouring out of someone, it would be static (so if the NPC moved, the gushing would stay in 1 place :v: )
I have to find a way to bind it to the skeleton of the model and then I'll be able to do such a thing. For the rest, working on it!

Shoker's doing gibs, I think? Might be a good idea to see what they've come up with and work from there?

They do, a bit over-exaggerated, but my problems with CoD has never been the animations.
IMO it's showing off.
For example cocking the slide could be MUCH faster in practice than GUNSLINGER's animations. It's a quick chack-chick instead of a pull back and then left go after a moment.
And you don't take your gun in front of you to reload, something a lot of games get wrong. LURK did it much more believably where the gun is kept down where it's faster to attach a new mag in.
The reason is
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. =/= simulator
That's why lots of animation looks slow - they're making you enjoying every moment of reloading/pulling out a gun.

Just saying that GUNSLINGER isn't realistic. LURK, despite the jelly screen and pink Zone is more realistic in its design and overall feel. GUNSLINGER looks more like Call of Duty.
Not to say unrealistic is a synonym for terrible, I'd love to have these in some kind of merge with a version of SGM where nothing makes sense anyway, but people think it's the herald of a golden age.
While it is a good mod and some of the wizardry involved is impressive, I'm not getting a snork boner from it. I just respect the effort.

Yeah this is the part which kills some reloads for me like reloading an AK looks painful in COD (and vanilla CS / CoP too to be fair) when they bring it up, turn it sideways and reload from there. Or if they're unnecessarily showy for the sake of being showy like MW2 FN FAL reload animation.
That said, I feel that most of Shoker reload animations (well, practically most of the new ones I've seen) are very competently made and not too showy. The best part is probably having separate jam clearing animations instead of just repeating the reload animation exactly as it were when a jam occurs.
