I just bought Call of Pripyat, if there anyway to cut down on the loading stutter?
Loner could you link that Clear Sky mod with the Bar? That's what I always missed when playing it and seeing it in the game would be awesome.
What was the name of the CoP mod tha setted the game into an artic environment and had a shitton of engine changes that made it look incredible and metro-like ?

The micro-stutter is because of the way Xray handles certain tasks it has to do like loading dynamic AI entities, spawning stuff, quest triggers etc. etc. I recommend installing it on an SSD or running it from the memory, but not everyone has the capability to do this. I should rephrase that, it's a shame they are not released yet.
okay, you guys know that bandit base you gotta sneak into relatively early into the game? i went in there and pressed the button to open up a jail cell, but it was empty. apparently the duty prisoner that's supposed to be there was just dicking around outside, so he jogged all the way across the map, went into the cell, and came out and said "hey dude thanks for freeing me." ??????????? i was playing LURK, if that's somehow the source of the problem.
I'm not sure I've ever had a playthrough where that Dutyer was't doing weird shit. There's always a 50/50 chance he's somehow escaped, grabbed a gun, and killed a bunch of bandits before I arrived.
i've been having a lot of fun with LURK, but are there any other good soc mods? i've played old good stalker but couldn't progress due to a bug, though. is that worth playing all the way through?

During my spare time I've been busy working on a translation for a Russian mod called "Valley of Whispers", which is "Долина Шорохов" in Russian. It's for CoP and pretty much all of the action takes place in a custom made map which is called just what the mod's title is. It's pretty darn good for a custom S.T.A.L.K.E.R. map and the quests are relatively interesting. Anywho, there was only a machine translation available so I decided to make one by hand. There's still a lot of dialogue left for me to decipher. I used David's machine translation as a base after he suggested doing so to me because I had an issue relating to some string id stuff. Etc., etc., here are some screenshots which mostly show some of the translated dialogue. I remember a subtitles mod for SoC, but not sure if there is same thing for CoP.

I love to see people translate mods, it's such a rare thing to happen yet something that's very needed. The more mods are translated the more people can have fun with the game
I once tried translating People Soup. It was not fun.

I really hate how guns halde in STALKER... enemies kill you in 3 shots and you need about 100 per dude^^

That's Vanilla and MISERY 2.0 depending on the situation. Try Redux or Stalkersoup, I guarantee 99.9% of the enemies die in one well placed shot. [sp]Looking at you and your 98% immunity to everything, Librarian[/sp]

In Stalker it's almost always better to waste bullets aiming for the head than it is to just hit them in the chest.
