S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

To elaborate on my evidently under-emphasised joke a little further up:
If you desperately need money and head to the Zone to find it, you're clearly not going to have the spare cash to buy a jacket, trousers, shirt, rucksack and assault vest in colour co-ordinated camo. You'd take the toughest clothes you had, sure, but that might well be a leather jacket and a pair of jeans.
This guy, to my eyes, looks more like an Airsofter than a Stalker. On top of that, none of the camo gear he's carrying is going to protect him from the evils of the Zone any more than the Leather and Denim of the standard vanilla rookie. The assault vest he's wearing may also be a plate carrier, I can't tell. But if, as I rather suspect, it isn't, then he's just as poorly protected as I said.
From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the whole mess of camouflage doesn't look great either - he could do with some block colours, probably on the vest and rucksack.
I really like the outfit as a combat uniform, camo and all but I just don't see as one that would fit very well if it was as prevalent as the Sunrise suit is. Though it would fit really well for stalkers that do mainly combat-oriented missions [sp]think the concept of "Soyuz"-faction for ZoA[/sp] or Freedom, considering they like to utilize lightweight combat-oriented suits in their daily bizznizzles.
anyone good with pixel art?
anyone good with pixel art?
You're right, it is quite fun.

Alas, I'm shit at it, but I think the pixel art style might fit with stalker quiet well.

No trigger on the sawn-off. Oh, of course.
played a game of TFW for about 4/5 hours with no crashes.

Traced, unfortunately.
And because at the moment I'm finding it all to easy to distract myself from more important things with a game or twenty.
Traced
Tracing is acceptable, as long as you keep them in proportions with whaever you are creating with them.
For examples:
A Makarov is smaller than an AK47
A hand grenade should fit into one's hand.

Have this as well. It's unfinished, and I'm not planning to finish it anyway because I'm lazy and have no motivation.

If we're talking ui_icons_equipment.dds, count me in

Lower resolution that that, I think. Look at Terraria or Cortex Command (or indeed Riki's work above).
Less photorealistic, more stylised.
Any good mods for CoP?

Define "good mod". More content/Atmosphere/New story?
Define "good mod". More content/Atmosphere/New story?
Complete mod
*hah
Define "good mod". More content/Atmosphere/New story?
Content.Atmosphere of the "normal" one it's good.
SGM (Sigerous mod) is considered good for content
If you want a 'better vanilla' I would recommend a merge of MSO+AtmosFear 3+Absolute Texture Pack. MSO isn't a large mod but it makes the A-Life of the game much more interesting and the maps more alive.
For new story mods, you could try out Way to Pripyat.

I've began working on a song and went for a stalker campfire style one.
So far I've only recorded the intro and the quality is far from perfect.

What do you guys reckon, think it would fit in with some loners around a campfire playing?

Hell yeah! I really like it. You know, you could also possibly vary these songs by purposely making mistakes (I take it not every loner knows his songs 1:1)
I really like it. Feels like it's always been part of the game

A word of advice.
A month or two ago, Facepunch couldn't get enough of Doge. They laughed and they laughed at the funny little Shibes with their hilariously misspelt captions. Then, as fast as the humour arrived, it left. Suddenly Doge stopped being funny. Suddenly posting Doge was .
TL:DR - People here have got tired of Doge.

Honestly, the quality is fine, at least in comparison with existing guitar tracks. I do like the intro. I think FatalFunnel over on /vg/ recorded and added a few guitar tracks to SoC a bit back, so if you needed help with anything you could ask him.

I actually did intentionally make some errors in that song, i'm surprised someone picked up on it
That is amazing, when you finish the whole song send me an MP3; I'd love to have STALKER-ish guitar songs in my playlists.

it's a nice start, would be very interested in hearing the rest of it once you've recorded it
@Etc.
Thanks. Although I didn't create the image, I will keep it in mind

I usually play a song like this whenever I'm walking into a Freedom-held area. Psychedelic 60's rock just fits them sooo well.
Am I the only one who hates the CoP MISERY mod?
