Honestly, I'm not too fond of it. The somewhat conversational style ("we feel we've improved the concept", etc) meshes poorly with the moody piano music/Metro crying sounds/sepia tone. I might just be speaking for myself here, but I'm bored of this sort of video. You're communicating the vision for your concept, great, but we've already had a whole bunch of videos like that, and we're not so interested in concept as in execution. The ESRB rating is completely out of place - it looks pretentious. Really I think you need to, as a group, ground yourselves. You keep talking about core concept values and dynamic implementation and I don't know what marketing spiel, which is exactly the opposite of what we like Stalker for. Stalker isn't a pretentious game, neither in terms of profundity nor design.
You're making a mod, not a game. We don't wanna see a pretentious 3 minute trailer where only 20 or so seconds of it actually gives us details of what is new. Your trailer should be giving us details of what all those new fixes and features are instead of just saying there are new fixes and features. Right now, it just seems like a whole trailer for new textures and particles. I hate to be so harsh but I think you need to work a lot more on it before you reveal this as the official Misery 2.1 trailer. A few other things: Get rid of the ESRB stuff, it is rubbish and pointless. Don't just show off a bunch of random shots of Chernobyl wilderness; show us your mod. The music doesn't match anything resembling STALKER. (I'll try and give some examples of what matches STALKER more when I get home) I haven't really said all that I want to say so I'll probably add more to this post when I get home or even PM you with some more suggestions/criticism. Again, I hope you don't read me as immediately hating it and/or being extremely harsh. [editline]choochoo[/editline] Welp guess I'm a bit late on stuff.
Now this is what I'm looking for. And don't worry, I've got some time left. I'd personally love to hear your most honest and wide feedback possible. I'll take everything into account. I do have to admit, I never really knew how to create proper trailers :v: I mean, I used to create stuff like this; Would something like this suffice more? (Yes, this is PRZ2 for MISERY. I don't mind giving it out already, actually)
My advice is this: dev diaries. Most of the PR material Misery puts out is of the "what we want to do" type. We want to add X feature, we want to make the game play like Y, and so on. This is fine, to a point. However, you've taken a fair amount of flak for things like cooking and the QR system that you advertised early on, but couldn't get working by the time 2.0 came out. Now, people will argue that as modders working out of the kindness of your hearts, you had no obligation to provide everything. And that's true. But regardless of that, you promised a feature with great fanfare, but you were nowhere near as upfront about having to cut it. To bring us back to the main point: don't tell us what, show us how. Explain how you're implementing new UI, write a short guide on how textures are improved, write about your reasons behind including, or even cutting, certain features. Do streams, do videos, release WiP screenshots - Don't be afraid to show us the ugly guts of your mod. We've all been there are some point or another. But when people understand the features better, their implementation, the reasons behind their inclusion, they'll be more understanding if (or rather when) something goes wrong. If I hear cooking's been cut "because of reasons", I'm far less liable to be sympathetic than if you explained how you were implementing it earlier on, and now you explain why that's not feasible. I understand your reasons for not wanting to show off an unfinished product to the public, but 2.0 clearly was unfinished and unpolished. A more down-to-earth, communicative approach will really do you favours.
Etc, I can always count on you. I'll hand this to the team. Thanks Question, would something like a monologue diary with gameplay or a Q&A answered by me suffice as well? at least, not as trailer ofcourse but in the course of us working on 2.1? I think this is a great idea. I'd be happy to do such a thing.

I wasn't sure if the video was advertising a windows movie maker schema or actual details about the mod.
Yes, but I recommend getting winmerge or beyond compare for that :)
I have no idea how to use winmerge, can you help?
I actually am here to discuss anything with anyone, but whenever I notice I'm getting pointless non-arguments from (I won't call names but you know who you are) users who're only bitching about the visual fidelity and art direction of the mod, not the core mechanics, I'll just choose not to waste any time on that. .
I think you misunderstood, I meant that you weren't here on the forums (hence able to discuss) when Misery 1 came out, and also in the run up and release of 2.0. [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] also agree 100% with Etcy and Gatey

All this focus on realism and detail. Man, can't someone just come out with a mod that makes everything super low-poly models with cartoonish textures? Maybe then I'd hit 30fps and be able to shoot people properly.
;43124972']Stop playing on a potato.
But how will I get the full stalker experience if I play it on something decent. my best memories of shadow of chernobyl were on a 6600GT with a pentium 4. ((this was before sunlight had graced my land though))
;43124972']Stop playing on a potato.
But maybe it'd be interesting to boil the game down to its basics: characters, shooting, environment, anomalies, and quests. Keep intact all the sounds and text, but redesign the game as minimalist. I'm not saying it has to look like shit.
8 bit stalkan baby
8 bit stalkan baby
2D side scroller that takes you from the beginning to the end of SoC. I like the idea.
Text-based STALKER. You have to input all orders in 0's and 1's.

Looks like Pokémon.

After I got my new PC i started adding on them.

You guys wanted some inside MISERY info eh, Well, first the good stuff. Bug testing MISERY proves itself to be very entertaining to our team; But, to every downside there's an up. The even better stuff; Remember this beauty? [t]http://imageshack.com/a/img41/2968/rmw.gif[/t] Well (WIP) [t]http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/350/f0a1.jpg[/t] [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] Yes, he is very talented at creating fitting titles for his creations :)
Those animations do look kinda swell, but that first video reminds me that the slightly worn overlay of gasmasks is kind of annoying. In fact all of the overlays are annoying in one regard. They obscure the center of the screen to varying extent. Now I do realize that it makes sense at first, I mean obviously a dirty screen murks up your vision and cracks are also detrimental but...video games don't have real life eye adjustment. In real life you then ignore the cracks and murk and focus on what's behind it. In the game Degtyarev doesn't do that and it just becomes annoying. I would personally prefer if the effects were focused to be closer to the edges of the screen so you would still get visual cues but could still see or just make them more transparent/overhaul completely, whichever. Maybe it's just me, idk.
I get your point, and I'll hand it over to Nic. He's in charge of the UI elements in-game. If he'll stay with the current design (highly likely) I'll probably tweak them a bit for the general sake of the mod. I'm already creating an add-on nature pack so why not edit some gasmask with it as well eh :v: This all for the loving and caring community behind missouriej
I hope the rollie animation is placeholder. :v:
I hope the rollie animation is placeholder. :v:
I think that's a dirty rollie.
I think that's a dirty rollie.
Even so. In the 5 years of rolling smokes and other various activities on occasion. I, nor anyone else who I know ever rolled like that. :v: Just saying as far as I'm aware. It doesn't work that way. Maybe it's just me being picky sod. :v:
