Oh yeah I tried that. Still blew up and/or got incinerated.
Ah, there it is.
I've only ever played CoP, and only ever up until you reach Pripyat, so I figured I'd play SoC for once but everything just seems to run like shit. I get random lag that will freeze the game for half a second, jerking around when trying to walk down hill, and all the weapons don't seem to do anything at all. I'm playing on master, but it just seems like everyone's firing peashooters.
I installed the latest STALKERSOUP for SoC, there's an option for dynamic combat music but I'm not hearing it. Anyone know what's up with that?
I'm playing on master, but it just seems like everyone's firing peashooters.
SoC has weapon progression, all the guns you'll find in the first level are pretty terrible in terms of both power and accuracy.
all the weapons don't seem to do anything at all.
The overall usefulness of weapons shifts throughout the series, for example the Mp5 (or Viper 5 as it's called in the series) and the AKS-74u are okay in CoP but they're absolute trash in SoC and the AKS-74u is mildly more useful in CS than it is in SoC but the Mp5 is even more trash because Clear Sky puts high emphasis on armor meaning that pistol caliber bullets have a hard time doing jack shit in Clear Sky. Shotguns are at their best in Call of Pripyat, while in Clear Sky they are probably the worst weapons due to their inability to pierce armor and mutants being relegated into a really marginal role in Clear Sky.
SoC has pretty terrible weapon progression though. If you know where to find the goodies they hid you're pretty set for the rest of the game :v: Same goes for CoP. Before I reached skadovsk I already had An L85, Winchester, SVD, Vintar and loads of ammo / medkits etc. _____ I'm sure Beac will reward those who search the revamped CoP levels for goodies in the new mod. Have you gotten a new name already btw?

CoP is chock full of loot right from the get go for anyone who's played through at least once. Semi-random non-container dynamic spawns is another thing on my Stalker wishlist.
I installed the latest STALKERSOUP for SoC, there's an option for dynamic combat music but I'm not hearing it. Anyone know what's up with that?
Yeah, it doesn't seem to work, have been playing Soup for about 30 hours total (new to the stew) and I haven't really noticed it working either. Actually here, since I have seen several people showing interest in the Soup, I will post a few tips that I have learned playing it so far: 1. Shotguns are basically sniper rifles sometimes, bandits and military with them can wreck your shit from far away, even with buckshot, but you can do the same with some careful aiming. 2. ALWAYS SAVE before you try doing an artifact recipe in case things go tits up and the whirligig you are standing in like a tard throws your expensive artifact from Yantar to Generators. 3. There are military guys who are mostly invisible, and you can only see them slightly, like a cloaked bloodsucker, best when they move. These guys are quite dangerous, try fighting them facing an urban environment, foliage behind them only makes them harder to track. 4. Don't trade an artifact for repair kits unless you have a Toolbox on you, the kits go inside, but if you don't have your toolbox, they will still take the artifact, but you won't get the kits. 5. Don't be afraid to try out new weapons. With all the new stuff Soup adds, along with the advanced ballistics, weapons that use the same ammo type can still feel very different, and if you are having trouble getting reliable kills on humans especially, try another gun, even if it uses the same ammo types, because ballistic profiles can differ a lot between weapons, also remember that smaller SMGs and things take up the pistol slot most of the time, and NOT the main weapon slot. Hope these help a bit. Stay safe in the Zone, Stalkers.
In SoC it is at least reasonable.
As per how the weapons go yeah, in terms of armor not so much since you get a new suit at such regular intervals that you never need to buy any armor because you can get pretty much any armor for free. [editline]herp[/editline] I never even bought armors on my first playthrough because the game conveniently happened to give me a new one before I even realized I needed one.
Before I reached skadovsk I already had An L85, Winchester
These are pretty reasonable loot drops though, since stalkers start to carry these from the get go meaning that it's not as if you're gaining some extreme advantage like spawning with the AKS-74 in the Clear Sky swamps gives you.
SVD, Vintar?
These are kind of not balanced, at least the Vintar isn't. The SVD would've been fine since they kind of strap you for the ammo for it and you shouldn't be able to purchase more ammunition from the traders until you do a couple of missions, causing Owl to update his stock but the VSS is a problem since there's too much ammo for it floating around.
As per how the weapons go, in terms of armor not so much since you get a new suit at such regular intervals that you never need to buy any armor because you can get pretty much any armor for free.
This exactly. After a lot of play-throughs you'd know where all kinds of armor where found. It may be a reasonable argument that the logic for special armors could only be retrieved through searching bodies, but the odds of that were pretty much close to none from my experience though. I mean, as an example, how many of you guys found the special Exo skeleton in SHoC, in the stash near the graveyard in pripyat, also known as 'Ghosts stash', with the mama's beads and iirc 9x39 PAB ammo? I found it once, in all those years of playing :v:
Go to X-18 and get yourself a sexy as fuck Monolith suit.
Go to X-18 and get yourself a sexy as fuck Monolith suit.
Paired with the Ak74 w/ GL and ammo, yeah. Good times. I'm actually rocking my Monolith suit in AA2 now. Also, *IF* you have the stash information, you can find night stars in the stash near the staircase down to the pseudogiant. If you go into the room with the smoke, to the right of the stairs, there's a safe. That safe once gave me the biggest smile a boy could have :v: Especially if you find 2 more in Argroprom near the fence. [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] This also brings me to another point. I need BETA testers and feedback for Particle Paradise 2.2. I'd like to ask who would like to volunteer, because there's 42 unique artefacts in SHoC now and I want each one of them to be unique in stats (not the usual 'bad, good, best' progression system for them) but I'll need serious input for that. I also need to adjust which anomalies spawn which artefacts and truth to be told, I'm kinda stuck here :v: [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] Message me if you're interested
so, going to give a shot again to CoP, are there any Important / must have VISUAL mods?
Where as one goes for realism and likeliness of this view within the STALKER spectrum, [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/pripyat_prometei2.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/jupiter_quarry1.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/jupiter_night2.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/pripyat_school1.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/pripyat_green.jpg[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/16/15452/jupiter_default.jpg[/t] Another goes for stylistic realism, more focussing on prettying up the game [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/ssq_01-23-13_14-14-39_zaton.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/ssq_01-23-13_14-21-59_zaton.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/ssq_01-23-13_13-28-58_zaton.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/8408449622_f968ec0582_o.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/4rSoA.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/8408499538_585d98dc49_o.png[/t] [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21995/8459474813_e5d162e3d0_o.jpeg[/t] I already explained what I think of both, and how I look at both. But, just for you; AF3 is more centered upon the zone. It constantly reminds you of being in 'The Zone' as it's natural appearance is saddening, gloomy, fitting to the zone. While it occasionally may leave you in awe with amazing blowouts, it doesn't really capture your attention while you're walking through the zone (this being without AN3.01) So, the opposite of AF3 is SWTC, which actually does want you to keep looking at the skies and the sun. It completely captures you in its awe, with literally amazing textures, sunsets and general appearance. It's less saddening and doesn't remind you as often that you're still in 'The Zone'. It hides the dangers of the zone while they're still there, where as AF3 puts an emphasis on those (more fog, custom blowouts, dense new particles and features just to kill you etc.) The choice is yours. _________________________ And in other news, Alundaio is teaming up with Bangalore to create (and I quote)
.. the greatest Call of Pripyat Free play mod?
Source: http://www.moddb.com/mods/pripyat-reborn [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] Shit.
Finally a visual upgrades for weapons. Damn wizards.
I still remember the gold days where I opened threads for this kind of stuff, they told me it was impossible. Look at this now. I can't wait to get my hands on this
WolfKOTTO never fails to impress.
Indeed. He and Sin! make an amazing team :v: Too bad the silencer animations were scrapped. He said that it was too much work :/
Does duty usually send out patrols of 4 men all equipped with grenade launchers? I'm doing a playthrough of CoP with Misery and since i'm friendly with freedom, out of nowhere explosions are going off around me and a group of 4 duty all had grenade launchers. It was fucking horrifying.

Loner1 was the link mistaken or was it just a source. Either way. Here is the page for said mod that they are working on. http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] Just realised the first part of my post makes no sense.
