Damnit [Green], I wanted to click agree but I haven't been on my PC for so long my mouse feels too fast. Disagreed. But you're right. MISERY doesn't suit all no
Any good Clear Sky mods?
To be honest even if you conquer radiation troubles. Difficulty is so Artifical it makes no difference if you are new or a vet to COP. You'll still get fucked over by AI 99% of the time.
That's the reason i quit playing Misery, the difficulty was just pure bullshit. Keeping it where you dish out the same damage as you take is what makes it more real and more fun. I don't like this shit where i hit a guy in regular merc gear with an AP 7.62x54R round out of a Mosin and he keeps going, even after taking a couple more, where a 3 shot burst from his AK drops me instantly from 400M away. That one shot should've either killed him or took a shit on his aiming ability. Everyone becoming master marksmen when the zone is full of mostly criminals and those seeking riches, not military men is just really badly done artificial difficulty.
x-ray plugins, which are largely shit
Ah, damn. I was hoping I could figure get some help on why the hell those scripts I posted keep failing for some reason and doing odd things to all the models I edit and then export, or just export. I've even had to go around with trying to test it on different Max versions, but things still screw up and can wind up like that boar in the .gif I posted a couple few pages back. Yet it works fine for the slavs and they haven't complained about such things. Figures.
Man it's weird how different a tone SoC's music puts out over CoP's, and many other games for that matter. SoC's music almost feels like an amalgamation of 70s and 80s horror movie sounds and music (the thing, alien come to mind, etc), yet still sounds like it's own thing as well. It's very surreal compared to many other games and movie soundtracks. It's bizarre how some of the tracks, even the more ambient sounding once are put together in such a manner, that I feel they are almost listenable like a regular song. Although the maps do play a large part in the atmosphere of course, I really don't think it would have had half the impact it did on me were it not for the music of the game. Fuck where is Lost Alpha god damnit.
Yeah, it's definitely different than Omelchuk's work in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. I always preferred MoozE's ambient tracks over his more action focused ones, so I never really was a fan of his stuff in FireStarter. Here's one of his old tracks. Did you use any of the drugs in combat? They're there for a reason... Hopped up on adrenaline I could take QUITE a few hits with a shitty trenchcoat and 1 unit of steel plates. The more advanced suits have even more slots for those armor plates, too.
Any good Clear Sky mods?
If you're looking to just play the story for the first time, I'd recommend simple SRP+karstux pistol ironsights fix. The SRP is really good for Clear Sky, it fixes some annoying bugs and I don't know if it's the ironsights fix or SRP itself but it seemed to fix for the most part the bullet sponginess of NPCs generally. Note that I mean in the context of Clear Sky ; I'm a pervert who enjoys the gun damages of vanilla games so it may be the case that your mileage may vary. If you're looking for a freeplay mod I'd suggest PreSky / The Faction War (remember to patch it to the latest version). PreSky is kind of uncooked in a way but it's interesting and The Faction War is a really nice mod if you're looking to actually sort of freeplay in Clear Sky. Smoq2 and his team make a really good job at making Clear Sky maps not static / boring like they are in the base game as far as A-Life is concerned. In case you want something that could be summed as "AMK for Clear Sky", you might want to try out OGSM. It restores some cut mutants and makes the gameplay a little different, yet retaining most of the original experience.
Misery stuff
That reminds me... Did the 2.0 / 2.1 ditch the silly death screen that came up in almost every death in Misery 1. The one where the main character just goes "SSSSSUUUUUUUKAAAA" and the camera of the game just floats around like the main character is drunk and about to hurl ? That was probably the most annoying thing about the first Misery, can anyone confirm whether that's still in or not ?

I was using the heavy overcoat with a pseudogiant hide in my accessory slot, still got fucked up by a single bullet, and usually the second or third from an AK would end me.
The one where the main character just goes "SSSSSUUUUUUUKAAAA" and the camera of the game just floats around like the main character is drunk and about to hurl ?
A bit off from your question, but Doom'sCoPMerge has this, too..
A bit off from your question, but Doom'sCoPMerge has this, too..
It does ? Oh well, I quit playing that quite shortly after discovering how crashy it is (it was content-wise a nice mod but for some reason it just kept crashing and crashing and eventually I just lost patience with it) and replacing it with M.S.O. I'm aware that many of the features Misery (1.0) implements are actually from Ceano's CfP or other mods but didn't know that was one of them. The point still stands, I'd rather have the character collapse into the ragdoll immediately so I can quickload instead of watching some drunken wavy thing go on while not being able to do anything about it. It's one of those things that yeah, they increase immersion for someone and while I accept that, I don't like it, hence I'm asking if it's still there in Misery 2.1.
In 2.1, bleeding out, dieing of radiation, or starving will have your screen go red and tilt to the side and then fade out. You'll ragdollize after that.
Alright, as long as it's not every combat death, I can live with it. Thanks for the information.
I think having a straight up ragdoll cam is best for immersion when dying. Also I really like Lurk's way of making your camera look straight up when you die, like you fell over. With the death scream it's actually pretty cool.
I use the SoC and CoP ambient tracks to fall asleep to quite commonly.
How odd, I literally just tried this last night and it worked pretty well.
snip, wrong thread.
Man, with Absolute nature lite the initial load for CoP(/SGM) is quite long. Any way to reduce the loading time, or do I just have to live with it?
:( Also what's up with SGM's reloading? The guns have new animations, but no new sounds so the reload sounds are off on a lot of them.
:( Also what's up with SGM's reloading? The guns have new animations, but no new sounds so the reload sounds are off on a lot of them.
Weird I haven't noticed anything like that.
SSD? v:v:v
SSD is overrated. Loading time is ok if <1min (<2min for SOUP).
SSD is overrated. Loading time is ok if <1min (<2min for SOUP).
I recommend anyone who wants to get into modifying stalker avails themselves of an SSD. A minute's time saved tends to stack up after the hundredth crash. Plus it makes Photoshop, 3DS, the SDK, and so forth run like butter.
I really need to get a bigger SSD, my 64gb first-gen one is just too small really, need a 128/256 to put stalker and the sdk etc on... Just waiting for the right SSD at the right price.

128GB is about 100£ on overlockers around £160 for a 180Gb one.

How's FXAA in CoP look? Thinking about using it since AA in CoP decreases performance a lot
Any good Clear Sky mods?
The Faction War is pretty fun. You pick a faction to join and then lead it to victory by taking over the Zone. There's some custom weapons and armor and you can also have companions that follow and help you along your endeavors. There's a Mega archive that has a huge amount of STALKER mods ready to download; including TFW. https://mega.co.nz/#F!zEtSxC4J!eRsovn-n098UpRtLDmr5_w!fJFwlTQa

Read and write speeds are almost on par with the Vertex. I recommend you going for this while it's at this price! It's always painful not buying something soon enough I've learned, the harsh way.
got this one as it was better and cheaper :) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ultra-plus-ssd-nand,3502.html
Sandisk is good, especially for that price. Samsung makes some excellent SSD's as well.
yeah exactly, very happy with my purchase on first look, can't wait to get stalkan and the sdk etc loaded onto it
yeah exactly, very happy with my purchase on first look, can't wait to get stalkan and the sdk etc loaded onto it
I do have to say, it's not so much better than the other. But, for the writing speed it's well worth that price imho! Nice purchase m8!
