Does anyone else find themselves with a scattered collection of copies of their Stalker installs as time goes on? It's becoming some kind of ritual for me.
Time for my first run of SoC of the year anyway, can't decide whether to stick to my favourite, OGSE or try out this new-fangled AA2!

Try AA2. Huge recommendation.

If you're not a fan of brown - go with OGSE.
If you up the saturation in sweetfx you can change it from brown to orange
Soup vs AA2? Since i went trough the hassle of installing soup and finally playing it, though i don't really like it that much (cept for the ton of extra maps, armor, etc.) While AA2 seems to be more, well, immersive.
Is bullet-spongy enemies something that is unique to Faction-Wars 3.7 (or the mod in general) or have I broken something? :v:
Such a good mod and I really want to play it but everything can survive 5 buckshot blasts to the chest and I can't find how to fix it. >:l
You'll want to get version 3.8 and the damage fix from here.

Controversy! Well, that's two more copies of my SoC folder, so I can give AA2 a shot and eh, if it doesn't sit well, I'll hop back to wonderful wizardry.

I think that's just Clear Sky in general, no? Someone here, I can't remember who (Sorry!) made a rebalance patch for TFW, I'll see if I can dig it up.
Edit- Oh dear, a moment late.
Hopefully a regular here can upload it, makes the world of difference.

So I guess the foliage isn't just for aesthetics
Yo [del]Bloodshot[/del] Gatekeeper when you get your ultramerge in a rather finished condition upload it. I want it. Bad.

Wow, a Stalker thread! Well, have been a long time i don't play any of them and i don't remenber shit. Need to play this game again. By the way, you can rate me late because i didn't checked the whole thread yet, did you guys saw the Razborka! gamemode for GMod?
Whenever I try to get Autumn Aurora 2 to run I get an engine error and the game just CTDs.

If you're running the Steam version you need to delete the d3d9.dll in your bin folder. Alternatively you can disable the Steam overlay but that didn't work for me.
Autumn Aurora 2 is one of the greatest mods for ShoC.
I ain't even joking, it's right up there with AMK and OGSE.
It's amazingly well done, I'm having a blast with it, however.. There are some bugs (Mostly visual).
1.The AK-74 Kobra's magazine reload animation with the GL attached is a bit sloopy (only if you use a FOV bigger than the original)
2.Running with some weapons while you have a grenade launcher attached makes it disapear in the animation (I believe it's because of the FOV aswell, as the animations might not be suitable for the FOV, I'm using 85 btw)
3.I've heard of Blind Dogs, but Blind Stalkers is just ridiculous: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/3318326689539380548/184FA360287DA4AF8A9D92AAA50FDA7A7DBE5BE0/
4.You've changed some tree placement and density, wich is awesome, but uh... http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3318326689539381615/20D039D0F266E89D8107FB824FE38361E268D4B1/
5.The Artifact Detectors are some wizardry shit, but sometimes the artifacts fall trough the world...
Now, bugs aside, am I the only one that thinks the mod is a bit too... predictable? I mean, the AI seems to be vanilla. They don't roam too much, they don't heal or loot and the faction "squad" placement is always the same, they're always ocupying the same locations from vanilla stalker. I dunno, sometimes it feels too dull (but only the AI).
Other than that, the mod is just unbelievably good! You have to either heal\eat, can't yield a gun while you do it, the new sound effects can keep you on your toes (Even for a veteran stalker like me, the kid crying sound effect and the bush rustling effect make me stop dead on my tracks and just look around to see if I'm actually alone...), the fact that you actually have to count the ammo you have on the mag is VERY cool, modified weapons that are very usefull early game appear as common weapons mid and late game, etc etc, I could go on, but then I'd make a wall of text
TLDR: Try AA2, it's amazing! If you want a really immersive experience, try it out.
...Also more guns and please just spread the guns trough the factions ranks, I already did something like that to 2 mods, I don't feel like doing it again.
Just started a game with it not even an hour ago and I'm already in love. It feels like a new Zone and a dead and unforgiving one at that.
One of my favorite features of the mod was that they got the gasmask overlay right. It's not like other mods where it's an opaque wall blocking your vision, instead it emulates how your eyes would adjust in real life to a gasmask.
Just like above my main nitpick would be the AI. So far (Only reached the Garbage) it seems to be the same as vanilla. I like the new animations and all but they do the exact same routines as in vanilla. Had they added some new combat mechanics for the NPC's or just made them a little smarter the mod would've been perfect.
Everything else however is pretty fucking awesome. I love the levels and the new atmosphere and I can't wait to see the rest of the levels!

Well, I think the reason that the AI wasn't changed much is that Autumn Aurora began as a simple texture mod. Even AA2 brings me this touch-up mod feel instead of an overhaul mod feel. It's not trying to revolutionize Shadow of Chernobyl, just give it pretty grassy plains and a couple extra weapons.

I know, I actually tried a older version of it, one that used a diferent particle system (PP I think, I'm not so sure) and it just ate away my fps so I just gave up on it. I hope AA keeps getting updates, it has ALOT of potential!
First off, thanks for the kind words.
Secondly, the locations were changed indeed and I actually won't give them out but here you go anyway, search the forums or post a thread there!
And lastly, the mod indeed became 'less' harsh in terms of gunplay because that aspect (after hundreds of hours testing) finally became enjoyable for some. I personally wouldn't know, I haven't touched CoP in a long while now, unfortunately :v:
SAY IT AIN'T SO??!!!
I was holding off on the last push to Pripyat, but if 2.1 is actually easier then I'll just say fuck it and punch my ticket with 2.0.2.
I saw what the Freedom Exoskeleton looked like in AA2. Why would you make such a monstrosity?
[editline]21st January 2014[/editline]
They've also managed to bug Skull's squad mission it seems. If you kill them all and head to Freedom you don't have the option to tell them it's already done. This results in Freedom going over there, and everyone but Max heading back. Max continues to wander around the area, putting his fist to the ground as though he's found their footprints, but he'd probably be tracking his own at this point.
Downloaded Misery 2.1 today, i actually like it compared to 2.0.2. Repair kits being mult-use and people not being able to take 4-5 chest shots of 7.62.54R makes this 100x better now, no more artificial difficulty. As a neat little plus, you can turn off the batshit crazy accurate aiming that even rookie bandits had before now.
I love when I'm fighting a fast mutant and I think I missed my shotgun blast because I shot the ground, only to have the buckshot ricochet up and go right through the pseudodog's face.
Hey loner, you still merging OWR with misery?

Waiting for r_populik to update the latest build in a few days and I'll start. It has the mosin
[editline]22nd January 2014[/editline]
Also, talking about guns ...
[t]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/24/23768/aug.jpg[/t]
(arsenal overhaul mod)
My fav. bullpup weapon in STALKER. Reminds me of them good old CS days ...
Wait, that update is coming in a few days?
Holding off my new CoP playthrough till then
Everyone is talking about AA2 and AMK. What about the Zone of Alienation? Is that somehow worse than AMK or should I just give it a try?
I'm kinda having a hard time trying to decide which one should I download first.

ZoA is nice, but too arcady for my taste in some sort of way. It has neat features, like a magazine system with single bullets (IIRC you have to load in all the bullets yourself) but I think this is too tedious for STALKER to really work :v:
Just my opinion though. It is nice, plus that it's fun to play, just ... not really my style I guess.
