Ahhh, the infamous neutral_nauchnyi glitch. Fortunately it's relatively easy to fix and doesn't even require a new game to do so unless you go for repairing the errors from the character_descr.xml.
It's a pretty common crash when it comes to MSO.
It's basically unavoidable unless you fix it because the game assigns a non-existent model path to NPCs from the Monolith faction usually and because they appear in Jupiter Factory where the player eventually basically has to go if they want to progress the story to Pripyat but then when the player character comes into the range of the switch_distance of the NPCs with the missing models, the game crashes. So I don't know how that got past the modder's testing but oh well, it's relatively easy to fix as stated earlier in the post.

It's a pretty common crash when it comes to MSO. Just check this image that Muukkis posted a few pages back:

Edit: God damn timing.

So I'm guessing I should do this right now as well then?
Is the base file I'm using stalker_neutral_1.ogf?
So I'm guessing I should do this right now as well then?
You could run a check through character_descr.xml and see if there are any of those misspellings.
The thing about .xml files, or at least character_descr.xml is that modifying them will not affect the save you have currently going, it only makes the changes after you start a new game, while simply duplicating the character visual and applying it names of the faulty paths should, by all logic (and my experience in this matter should indicate this as well) work even without starting a new game.
However, if you haven't still actually started the game and want to address some quirks on MSO that not everyone is super fond of, like the Zone factions wearing too much overlapping gear, I'd make some changes to the character_descr.xml before you notice that it starts to grate you after you've already started the game. Personally I wasn't too fond of Mercenaries using a lot of Bandit skins so I changed a couple of merc spawns that use the bandit model to spawn with the defaul merc skin.
As always, make backups before modifying anything. Though if you fuck up the character_descr.xml, even reverting to a functioning backup of the file will probably cause you to start a new game.
I already have started one, so I guess I'm just renaming those files
Well that's the easier way and probably more efficient anyway since with the .xml file there's always the possibility that you typo some of the file path destinations or overlook one and it's all for nothing.
I already have started one, so I guess I'm just renaming those files
I want there to be a mod where you can kill a squad of enemies like a bandit squad, and then when there are wounded decide to give them a medkit, and then they'll either shoot you in the back, or turn over a new leaf thanks to your kindness, and attempt to switch factions
Then sometime down the road you might be in a hard firefight and instead of dying, you just get wounded and that guy you helped brings a bunch of stalkers to revive you and help you kill your enemies
attention stalkers
there's some fuck huge protest shit going down in ukraine, it's on fire right now.
i have no idea why.
yeah I saw the riot vid, pretty bad shit
too bad they can't just get a mod and change the faction hostilities

they were pretty close to basically joining the EU, and then the president basically cancelled it and strengthened ties to russia, the people are mad

and then, mysteriously, as soon as he did so, Russia cut Ukraine's gas bill and bought $2 billion worth of Ukrainian bonds.
it's like the governments are rife with corruption or something?????
it's like the governments are rife with corruption or something?????
Corruption is an ok thing for Russian and Ukrainian government.
Since the end of USSR everything went to shit.
I take it Autumn Aurora doesn't work with the steam version?
I take it Autumn Aurora doesn't work with the steam version?
Pretty sure it does.
delete d3d9.dll in bin folder
delete d3d9.dll in bin folder
That seems to have done it, thanks.
so does the released version of shoker 2.0 have the whole, "look down and see your legs" feature in it that they showed off?
That seems to have done it, thanks.
Yeah, it's SweetFX. Supposedly disabling the overlay should've fixed it, but I had no such luck and had to delete it too.
Has anyone had any strange graphical errors with AA2 by the way? I'm on my dev machine just now, so no screenshots handy but sometimes looking at trees causes weird "phantom outlines" of the tree to appear.

i had that earlier

Yes, you can see your legs in first-person view. It's a toggleable feature thanks to the new console. Oh yeah, I posted a translated version of the feature list that got taken from the forum threads on the GSC forums, check it here if you want a more thorough feature list.

I've had something like that happen once or twice, just look all the way down at the ground and back up and it should go away.
Ah, why did Loner get banned?
Ah, why did Loner get banned?
Untagged spoilers apparently.
funny considering he first got banned for misusing spoilers
I set bloodsuckers "fire_wound_immunity" to 0.05 because OWR weapons are so strong, and yet they still seem to go down really quickly
Do these changes also require a new game to take effect?

so this happened when i was doing the arena matches and barin somehow got into the arena.
It's kind of funny that Snag is [sp]trying to con me into giving him my custom ordered pistol from nimble[/sp] when my primary weapon is the AK74U I stole from him :D

The horridly corrupt military in Stalker now seems really realistic.
The horridly corrupt military in Stalker now seems really realistic.
They can't really be labelled "corrupt" in the contemporary sense, though.. They were just government sponsored bandits with directives to kill everyone they came across.
I've discovered an easy secret for dealing with the annoying stamina drain in call of pripyat if you have no artifacts
Eat and have an energy drink (not bread though, only the sausage/tourist's delight). I don't know why I never tried this before, doing both literally gives you so much energy recovery that you can regenerate stamina while you sprint
Also I threatened [sp]Jack so I wouldn't have to pay the extra money [/sp] by showing up with a vintorez, even though it was completely empty. Bring on the bandit squads.
It seems way too easy to buy good equipment, a couple of quests and artifacts in I've got 30,000 RU already
