Oh, god. It's my nightmares all over.
god, why do mods never fucking work for me
Having trouble installing Misery 2.1, I've installed it on a fresh new install, tried it with and without patching xrEngine.exe for 4GB, and it still crashes. What should I try next?

Have you tried deleting d3d9.dll and your sweetFX folder?
;43654775']Have you tried deleting d3d9.dll and your sweetFX folder?
neither are present anywhere in the COP directory, so I don't think that's the issue
d3d9.dll isn't in the bin folder?
Nowhere to be found in any of the sub-directories.
There still haven't been any news from the OLR 2.0 team, so I've been taking a look at Cold Blood (or just Холодная Кровь) today. May as well get this one dealt with, here's something to start it off. Also, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the "Anomals" name or switch it over to something like "Anomalous ones". Also, yeah, the thermos gets depleted by 0.2 litres each time you use it. There's also some sort of a 3 litre version lying around in the Zone.

machine translations, they said
here comes the real machine
edit:I'm curious: how is "ah nu, cheeki breeki iv damke" actually spelt in cyrillic?
Why is it no matter what mod I play, skull always manages to get sniped as soon as I start the quest to help duty?

There's an easy solution. Go kill the sniper first, then go talk to him. He rewards you automatically.
edit:
i know this is not anything new, but i just find people playing the guitar songs soothing and calming as hell. i could listen to this stuff for hours

Yeah I did that, it's more just me nitpicking as I'd like to be able to take it before I do it
EDIT: I thought I heard some people say stealth was working in AA2, but I'm trying to kill the freedom base at night, but as soon as I shoot with a silencer/knife one guy out of the way they all know and start attacking
;43654775']Have you tried deleting d3d9.dll and your sweetFX folder?
Euh MISERY doesn't come with this or you're confused with AA2 :v:
Well, my "kill master stalker" mission seems to have resolved itself
Stepped out of the freedom base to a prompt saying "claim your reward" and went to see what happened

Vodka did it's thing.
Man, I'm really hoping LA has some high up points to view the large maps from.
STALKER generally does a pretty nice job of rendering stuff in the distance, and I would love to stand on a tower or a hillside and overlook the shit in LA and just look at the view, and see where you can go next, I love when you can do that.
Having a few issues with AA2:
The game does remember the graphical settings once restarted, but everytime I start a new game, it always automatically slides all the graphical settings up to max, except grass distance. Static Lightning also goes Full Dynamic Lightning when starting a new game.
If I try to change the settings, the game crashes.

How's stealth in misery?
How's stealth in misery?
Decent at night, or in darkness, but in daylight expect to be spotted a mile off by a guy with no binos or anything. Also prepare to be 2 shot sniped by PMM wielding bandits all the time unless you turn off hardcore aim.
I wish dead bodies in Misery would carry more stuff. I know it makes it easier to horde items (considering the player has the magic quick save button and is essentially the one man steamroller of the zone) but it gets seriously unbelievable when you're getting killed by rookie bandits wielding russian rust-buckets carrying one or two broken rounds in their underpants at 500 yards
I guess a hardcore mod or something would be nice. Some sort of implementation of perma-death. It'd seriously add a heightened sense of fear and caution, but I'd imagine it'd get real frustrating really fast. As of right now, it feels as if there's no reward for killing enemy stalkers, other than knowing you're not going to catch a bullet in the dome after getting sniped by his rusty desert eagle 5 miles down the road.
Also still can't get 2.1 to work but I made a fresh re-install last night so I'm gonna try again soon
Jesus christ I can't find a meat chunk. Why'd I have to sell that one I found early on to beard?
I think it would be cool if Bandits and other enemy stalkers all carried a good amount of items, ones that would make sense for survival in the zone. That means food, ammo and a decent gun, and probably some medication, nothing over the top, but sensible. The catch being, is that when you died, you would wake up in the medbay on skadovsk, with all the stuff you were carrying at the time removed. Then, remove the quick save function or something and have it do a hard save at the beginning of each day or every time you wake up in the med bay.
That's probably majorly contradicting to most people's play style, but it would add a serious element of difficulty to the game, in that you can't just quick-load every single time you make a mistake. Because then what's the point?

Still can't get Misery 2.1 to run on CoP, even on a completely new fresh re-install. The crash log says this:
I was actually just thinking about this the other day, and that skyrim death mod came to mind, which I think might fit here.
Basically, my thoughts are instead of just dying from a stray bullet in a tough firefight, most of the time you would enter a severely wounded state, like NPCs can - bandits would take your RU and your valuables, stalkers you pissed off might just take everything, food and supplies too so they could leave you to "die", and monolith would drag you away to be brain-washed. A similar thing could be done with some mutants - get attacked by a bloodsucker? Get dragged to their lair.
You could have the character wake up differently depending on the situation to prevent the situation of "dying", such as having a friendly loner/stalker/etc. rescue you from monolith, or give you a spare pistol they have if you were robbed, etc.
Basically, make death a very rare occurence, and then have some sort of big consequence for it (not sure what that would be though)
Also I might just be crazy, but am I the only one who doesn't spam saves that often? A lot of times I find myself only saving say, after quests and milestones, but I can't really think of many times I've saved during a firefight unless I absolutely need to. The most I really do is maybe save before one if I know it's coming.

You're just missing a sound file, a quick fix is to make a new file, title it "new_thunder1_hec.ogg" and then put that file in the directory it's showing.
Wow, I just realized something.
I've never been able to play the same game/series over a period longer than 2 weeks. Usually, unless I am making some sort of mod for it, whether I've been playing a lot or a little, I'll loose interest and want to move on to something else.
I've been playing SoC and CoP pretty much exclusively, with a teeny bit of CSGO on the side, and it has now surpassed that margin by a day. This is very bizarre to me, as this happens to me with anything, even games like TES, or MP games like BF with friends. I wonder how much longer STALKER will still hold my interest before I switch to a different game series again.
If I suddenly stop posting here, that'll probably be a pretty good indicator that I've lost interest.

I think I'm missing an entire sub-directory of sound. Installer must be broken.
The nature folder is missing. Is there a separate mod I'm supposed to have? Am I supposed to install 2.1 over 2.0?

Fuck, I'm retarded.
I accidentally downloaded the 'Upgrade' version instead of the Full version. Now I feel really stupid.
