I wish dead bodies in Misery would carry more stuff. I know it makes it easier to horde items (considering the player has the magic quick save button and is essentially the one man steamroller of the zone) but it gets seriously unbelievable when you're getting killed by rookie bandits wielding russian rust-buckets carrying one or two broken rounds in their underpants at 500 yards I guess a hardcore mod or something would be nice. Some sort of implementation of perma-death. It'd seriously add a heightened sense of fear and caution, but I'd imagine it'd get real frustrating really fast. As of right now, it feels as if there's no reward for killing enemy stalkers, other than knowing you're not going to catch a bullet in the dome after getting sniped by his rusty desert eagle 5 miles down the road. Also still can't get 2.1 to work but I made a fresh re-install last night so I'm gonna try again soon
Turn hardcore aim off, turn enemy infinite ammo off in options, raid shitloads of stashes and avoid anomalies. Ammo isn't that hard to come by, it's money, you can buy all the ammo in the universe from Owl and Beard, just costs an arm and a leg. That being said, 2.1 is much easier than 2.0.1 in combat terms, also if you're raiding a base/camp, wait until night, if you do things right, you can sneak up on them. As for people not carrying much, it takes luck, sometimes you find veteran bandits or something similar that have a good amount of loot. If you could afford it, get an Artifact Application Container, get a Fireball and enjoy being nearly immune to torso gunshots. Also avoid the heat based anomalies at all costs, i had two mid level thermal protection artifacts equipped and i still took alot of health damage in a few seconds, plus stepping on a burner is still instadeath. EDIT: I have a minor gripe though, the stashes really make almost zero sense, most of them have "bad ammo" which is nearly worthless, you'd expect something decent, like a candy bar or a few rounds of working ammo, something that i've never actually found, and i hit probably 75% of all of zaton's stashes.

Bloodsucker vs Predator: Requiem
You could have the character wake up differently depending on the situation to prevent the situation of "dying", such as having a friendly loner/stalker/etc. rescue you from monolith, or give you a spare pistol they have if you were robbed, etc..
You've been playing a lot of Far Cry 2, eh ?
Also I might just be crazy, but am I the only one who doesn't spam saves that often?
I never really quick / permasave outside of the safe hubs in Call of Pripyat and rely on the autosave in case there's a mission that has multiple phases so it would be tedious if you had to do all the starting parts over again. It gives the game a much better feeling of survival, in that you occasionally have to weigh the risks of getting killed and think whether you really want to check out another artifact hunting place or just call it quits and go back to the safe house to restock and save. I've had plenty of occasions where I've played for two hours, each time taking a different route / approach to my raid and gotten no progress at all because a Monolith squad, merc squad or mutant rape squad has come to ruin my day. Oh, and the occasional :stack trace: as well which is just lovely. But it really adds to the feeling of survival and atmosphere.
I got a question about autumn aurora 2. I've finally been able to install it, but it's in Polish, which is no good. I've deleted the localization file and copy/pasted it into the game twice, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Hey guys, figured I'd do another play through of Stalker again. I'm wondering could any of you recommend a mod for any of the 3 games. My last play through would have been last year maybe longer. It was on CoP with the Misery mod, I thoroughly enjoyed it especially its difficulty and depth. I heard it had been updated and might give it a go again, however are there any other mods out there worth a look?
If you liked Misery then you might like Autumn Aurora 2 for SoC which has extremely similar visual aesthetics in terms of the overall style but doesn't have the graphical issues that plagued Misery (like the Zaton repeating textures that make hillsides difficult to watch). Autumn Aurora 2 isn't aiming to be really that difficult but it has some new things in it that add slight depth to it, like Artifact Detectors (CS / CoP style) and non-instant medikits.

We have our own Mod Repository in the OP.
SoC - SOUP CS - R.E.B.O.R.N. CoP - SGM 2.2 If you haven't played batshit insane russian wizardry mod - you haven't tasted the true Stalker experience.
wait what ogse soon to be released are you fucking kidding me i am barely halfway through AA2 and now my alltime favourite ShoC mod is coming out? [sp]i kid, lurk wins because it has an RK-95 and soon TRG as well[/sp]
Damn OGSE 0693 won't work on static lightning.
Anyone know which files in Misery have to do with what NPC's have in their inventory on death?
iirc, look for "community" files. [editline]25th January 2014[/editline] Also there are many factors that determines the drop. death_items death_items_by_community death_items_by_levels death_items_count death_generic [editline]25th January 2014[/editline] perhaps Vivi_O could enlighten us both?
You've been playing a lot of Far Cry 2, eh ?
Never played it actually, though now that you mention it I do remember the previews talking about friends carrying you away and stuff like that
Dooms Freeplay mod still is fun I like popping in, starting a new game and see how far I can come without dying [editline]25th January 2014[/editline] The only problem is that you lack actual things to do It'd be lovely if Pripyat had a similar mod with that issue resolved.
Did someone say OGSE? :D It's been so so long since I saw that combat AI video they made for the new version.
Dooms Freeplay mod still is fun I like popping in, starting a new game and see how far I can come without dying [editline]25th January 2014[/editline] The only problem is that you lack actual things to do It'd be lovely if Pripyat had a similar mod with that issue resolved.
There's all sorts of stumps of quests left in the files for freeplay start, but I completely lack the knowledge to re-activate them. Admittedly they're not complicated quests, basically on par with the standard assassination missions.

I've got an early version of a translation for Cold Blood ready (be warned that it's missing a whole bunch of text as an English equivalent even for a lot of basic items). Grab it from here or here. Does anybody know if the Warmongers mod adds any new locations to the game?
The icon for Chemist looks like simon pegg.
In AA2 are there any beds near the Bar?
There is one in the Bar, just go to the back room.
In AA2 are there any beds near the Bar?
There's also one located in the bunker, near the start of the level just before the outpost. It has a stash in it as well with some ammo. At least, if they didn't patch that out already. (5.45 iirc)
So I started reading Roadside Picnic yesterday and I'm already almost done with the book, man I have no idea why I have been putting off such a good book for all this time. It makes playing STALKER that much better. In other news I noticed an official English translation of Metro 2034 spring up on Amazon recently: LINK It hasn't been released yet.

Dem fur suits :v:
AA2 is neat and all, but the respawn times are really making it a chore to play. When you enter the Garbage, kill the bandits on the right side of the road, go help defend the hangar, then come back and see that the first group of bandits is already back... it just makes the world feel so static. Like the reset button is going to be pressed the second you look away or move on.

I honestly don't know exactly what I mean, but some general goal to have, like Mount and Blade you can conquer the whole world or Dead Rising you can reach maximum level, stuff like that. Although in both of those example the case is that it's a pretty weak, but still working goal. Mount & Blade has a lot more potential as for this, but that ain't the M&B thread so yeah.
Apart from quest though. I honestly don't know exactly what I mean, but some general goal to have
You could look up some community-made faction challenges for Doom's Mod Merge. [editline]herp[/editline] One thing could be sort of adding items that are of importance to each faction like for the mercenary faction, there would be a series of documents on the X-Labs to be found, the military faction would want to find maps and information relating to the Monolith faction's movements and secret stashes and so on. The mercenary one is sort of self-explanatory, you can just basically put in documents into the secret laboratories that the player has to find (then also to account for that, the A-Life of the labs should be amped up a little perhaps ? ) but for the military one, you could use secret Monolith stashes a la Call of Pripyat to spread some of them around and have the little stashes contain a slight clue on how to find the next one. The information could be an assortment of maps on the anomaly formations, indicating the location of secret trails the Monolith use to go around the maps and where there are other secret Monolith stashes made for their agents and etc.
Like the reset button is going to be pressed the second you look away or move on.
I think it's just that Autumn Aurora 2 has the exact same spawns and spawn rates as vanilla, so besides the new mechanics the game is still essentially vanilla, warts and all.
I think it's just that Autumn Aurora 2 has the exact same spawns and spawn rates as vanilla, so besides the new mechanics the game is still essentially vanilla, warts and all.
Seems so. Since ZRP is so modular I may see if parts of it can be added in. I know it has a spawn manager option.
