Not from STALKER per-se, but there have been times where I would see a nice sunset at my college or something, and instead of pulling out my phone I'd instinctively reach for the screenshot key
Quick question for those who play slav mods here - have any of you played the newest version of Вариант "Омега"? Apparently version 4 came out a few weeks ago and I'm thinking of giving it another shot after playing v2 a year or so ago.

No point for me, I am on 1155 socket instead of 1150 so it'd mean I'd need a whole new motherboard. Also the i5-3570k is an absolute tank already, especially if you overclock it. Only bottleneck on my computer right now is the GPU.

Ah, true. I thought, why not upgrade my whole system while I'm at it? I've seen the nVidia roadmap and it seems like the maxwell series (8xx) [URL="http://justhardwarenews.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/nvidia-roadmap_thumb.jpg%3Fw%3D496%26h%3D288"]will deliver over 3 to 4 times the power[/URL] the current K110 (Kepler) GPUs produce, present in the GTX7xx series.
I might even lay off getting the i7-4k series at all and wait for the newest Broadwell-K series to combine it with some neat DDR4 memory. 2014 will definitely be the year of the PC. I mean, new technology on every aspect of PC gaming is going to be revealed in this year. The newest intel CPU: Q3, 2014, GTX800 series around the summer, DDR4 @Q3 / Q4 2014 ... This will definitely be a grand year!

yes i know soc has like 7 endings, i've gotten at least 4 of them i didn't know there were multiple endings for cop though

I don't think CS had any, but CoP did. CoP's endings were more compartmentalized in the sense that if you did or didn't do something it would switch between different dialogues. [sp] For example if you didn't clear out the Bloodsucker lair then it would say that bloodsuckers overran the Skadovsk. If you did clear out the bloodsucker lair then it would say that the Skadovsk prospered. Now that can change if you didn't take sides with loners over bandits, because then it would say the bandits took over the Skadovsk.[/sp] I'm bad at explaining things but if you play CoP twice till the end then you'll know what I'm talking about.

I'm doing a ShoC playthrough for the first time in over a year (using the LURK mod, tried AA2 and I just didn't enjoy it) and i've been having a bug the entire game where medkits don't heal me, but food appears to heal for alot. So i've been RPing as the hungry hungry stalker who carries a minimum of 20 kg of food [sp]mainly sausage[/sp] on him at all times. Along with 5 kg of vodka, leaving only 10 kg for weapons and armor. I will consume all food in the zone before bullets or mutants will kill me.

Medkits don't heal? They don't insta-heal so you can't spam them. It takes a while for it to take effect (slowly progresses over time)

They don't heal at all. I even spammed 20 of them and my health didn't go up at all. It's a weird-ass bug.
It's not really a bug in LURK. It's more like the dev seems to have set the eat_health of medkits to 0 and forgot about it.
Go to gamedata/config/misc/items.ltx
Search for "medkit", scroll down to eat_health and change its value. Vanilla is 0.6
Just to be sure, you should check the other variations of medkits as well (scientific/army)

Heh, probably. I do miss him. I mean, he got a lot of shit for LURK at first. I love the mod and I think LURK was in a way very well made. Sure, each mod has it's [I]somewhat icky[/I] design choices, but overall it was well worth the experience. Plus, taking the visuals in consideration ... Damn. And no, I'm not talking about the vaseline on a cameralens like visuals, that's easily disabled if you know what you're doing.

There are a few specific weapons, usually they're assault rifles, that I have literally never been able to reload from an empty magazine. Sometimes the gun will jam, I reload, jam right away, reload, jam again, fire 3 shots, jam. And this is on a weapon will full condition and upgraded. As if they didn't have shitty accuracy already.
I was forced to use the double barrel for half the game untill I realized that only a few particular weapons do that, as I imagined my game was bugged or something. It's awesome and it's a lot to fun to use but doesn't do nearly enough damage sadly.
The one thing I liked about misery is in fact how the double barrel was an extremely capable weapon even later in the game, especially if went with the sniper class

This. I linked a video of one of our testers who made it through the Merc plant + documents with only a PB sidearm and some AP / FMJ ammo. With planning and decent accuracy you're prolly getting through most of the game

There are two, according to the wiki. Although the other ending sounds more like a glorified alternative Game Over screen than an actual ending, it actually counts as an ending. Although somewhat amusingly it's harder to get the bad ending because you'd actually have to go through most of the finale section instead of just cheesing [sp]Strelok[/sp] with the bug in the beginning of the level. Which probably makes the level absolute hell since you'd have to start the level from the beginning autosave all over again if you die during the level.

Clear Sky puts a lot of emphasis on armor and shotguns have generally a terrible time getting through armor in Clear Sky. It works on the other way too though ; I remember playing the Bandits' Faction War and with the Berill-5M I could straight up tank Loner Exoskeleton experts' SPAS-12 rounds right in the face while only really taking negligible damage :v: .

Buckshot and pistol rounds going right through an exoskeleton is not exactly realistic though, but i'll take that any day over bullet sponges
