S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

Reminds me of how OL managed to fuck my shit up once. The scenario:
I was running around with my loot in cordon. I had a SEVA suit and some high ranked gear and I was going through all the levels before going to pripyat to sell everything and ready-up. I found a white lada (iirc?) and drove it around a bit. I managed to get past the military control point by the bridge and I went up the hill to the right, where the boars and dogs were. I wanted to drive over a boar but it kept running in circles around me. I managed to step on the gas enough to hit it, but I just dragged it along, while it was still alive. Me, thinking, well whatever, drove it up the hill. Next thing, the boar dies, glitches and manages to sweep me and my car because of his ragdolling body around 200m into the air. I was stressing because I didn't save and accidentally exited my car. I managed to survive the landing in some weird way because I crouched before hitting the ground. I was at 5% health and spammed medkits, not knowing what would happen next. I walk 2m to be united with the level geometry by the car that crushes me in between the level and it's body. Next thing I know I see 'lost to the zone' on my screen and my body glitching through cordon, falling down into the never ending skybox :v:
best moment out of my whole stalker history.
Sounds like every car in the Zone.
[editline]6th February 2014[/editline]
Playing vanilla SoC and a burner anomaly burned my ass soooo hard that my body glitched through the ground and my limbs stretched infinitely, while emitting uncountable amount of smoke particles that frooze my laptop dead.

Ah yeah, I've also had stuff like this. I shat my pants when the car crushed me though, stalker has the tendency to repeat on-hit particles and sound and when the car fell onto my head, it made the 'metal fall' noise INSANELY loud because it was ragdolling as crazy. Me, being a user who plays his games with headphones only, almost ripped them off my head lol.
I've also had a fun moment when I once accidentally threw a grenade (with modified sharpnel count) at the brain in X16... stupid. Very, very stupid.

brb trying with Bulldog
brb trying with Bulldog
WAIT, BEFORE DOING SO ...
Grab a cup of thee,
Some cookies,
A dust removing napkin,
Drink the thee while wiping the dust of your pc / laptop
Clean it, take care of it and love it,
Then start stalker, load the level, reload the Bulldog and say goodbye to it before you fire
You know what's the worst thing to do in all STALKER games?
Killing Monolithians.
Those voices when they get hit, killed. I just can't bear it..
I once edited the monoliths and mercs to say Sagharov's 'Hello hello' when they get hit or see an enemy. Pretty damn funny. Now I've got the metro sounds. Pretty awesome, as they're pretty convincing
Bah. I'm done trying to merge Armory Overhaul 1.4 and SGM Geonozis.
Its just a mess of conflicting upgrade schemes, and scripts that utterly refuse to be merged.
I'm just going to get back to actually playing the game. And hopefully by the time I run out of guns in Geo, the misery team will have gotten some nice animations.

If all goes accordingly, we'll have an overhauled animation system in each area of the game. But this is merely hoping, for now.

I suspected you had plans for it - but the nature of game development / modding - is a constant battle to get ideas actually implemented.
I mean, currently my merge isn't working because the game claims it can't load an upgrade group - yet no weapon references that group : \ Its the nature of programming that as soon as you stamp out one problem, another 6 will show up.

Goddammit I need some sleep. Almost gave up on merging these two because I failed to notice a single letter that was in the wrong place. -_-
Thoughts?
It misses a coherent style. The bullets are standing out too much imho.
is misery recommended if i'm looking for something as brown as AA2 but for CoP?

What do you suggest?
they just look a bit 'fake'/plastic-y to me
they just look a bit 'fake'/plastic-y to me
Yeah, I can't tell why it is so.
Maybe taking a look at real life casings would help. I think it's the reflection.
Best I could find in 5 minutes.

You should look past the visuals of MISERY. You can always try doing a merge and then taking the misery visuals on top. (sub-texture folders)
картриджi
Is that some odd naming scheme that I'm not aware of?
Is that some odd naming scheme that I'm not aware of?
I ask myself the same. Why's the 'i' there? "картридж" means cartridges, so ... ?
All S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are now available on GOG.com! They're also on sale for 70% for the whole pack (14.97$ total) or 50% for individual games.
They also come with manuals, concept arts, renders, soundtracks and other stuff for free.

huh, I didn't really expect stalker to get gog'ified.

There was a RO2 sound pack floating around on /sg/ on 4chan a while back. I didn't try it, but apparently the death sounds are haunting.

Ah! I know of this, IIRC I have downloaded it before. I'll check my STALKER HDD to make sure.

Also, Path To The Zone update!
Hi everyone! Time to fresh news :) So let's start.I'm working on new PDA. It has next tabs: music player, map, statistics and settings . You can install your music into the music player. For it you just need to copy your music into special folder with a default music. PDA doesnt have a global map. At start you don't have all maps in your PDA, you must to purchase maps from traders or other stalkers.
Next feature is a new upgrades for weapons. I think it's better than GSC made in 'CS/CoP'. NPC don't make upgrades, you need to purchase upgrade packs from traders. Then you need a repair kit and special instruments for installing upgrade on weapon. The smaller repair skill, the greater the chance that you will break the weapon.
Next feature it's a leveling skills. This will be like in Fallout 3. More information about this will be later.
About graphics. I'm still working on it because i want to do it better. But you need a good PC for playing on ultra settings. I'm testing on GTX 560 Ti, 4gb ram and AMD Phenom X6 1090T. On ultra setting i get 40-50 fps. I think it's good.
Also, i'm still searching for an animator for creating new features.
Good luck to all and stay tuned! :)

Also, Path To The Zone update!
Pretty much the only things that interest me from it all seem to be the map thing and the changed upgrade system. I wonder if he got inspiration for the map idea from one of the old builds where you started in Army Warehouses and had to run around to map the area since all save for your starting position was blacked out on it.
I wonder how much S.T.A.L.K.E.R. themed rap I'll be able to hear in the music packs.
I'm assuming the GOG version of SOC is 1.0006. It would be great if the installer included 1.0004 and 1.0005 options. I would buy the game again for that.

This. GOG are usually pretty good about providing older versions of games for mod compatibility. IL2 1946 is an example. I really hope they offer older versions, would make getting OGSE set up so much easier..

Expect all of the best like run NPP and S.W.A
