And the whole large texture usage? My VRAM is going to cry bitch tears if I decide to re-DL CoP and install this hunk.

It's going to pay off more, though. 'My merge' of MISERY will be more focussed on artefact hunting than the current MISERY is. There's going to be a lot of gameplay changes in this version (It's going to be a true alternative to the original) rather than 'just a texture replacement'. It'll be more difficult, indeed, but it'll also be more viable.

Don't worry, that's where my shaders come into play, hehe. Plus, like I said, half size textures are going to be in place as well (512 till 1024) while the High Res. pack will feature 1024 as a bare minimum, ranging from 2k to 8k textures, based upon their use.
I am still testing them, but they're based upon Kingo's ones and they're a merge of some russian ones as well. I am talking with K.D, Meltac and KET about these shaders, and how to possibly improve upon them, as shader editing in Xray is a absolute [I]PITA[/I]. I'm also using the shadereditor.exe from the SDK, in order to create new materials for some stuff. This is also under heavy testing (new material shaders allow for more diversity in materials in the game obviously, but I'd like to see to what extend before the game gets all laggy)
I will report back once I'm at a stage where the global BETA testing initiative is going to be launched. I will upload the necessary files to the MISERY Test lab, for public download, and I'll gather some info on FPS, playability, other tweaks I need to make and bugs from various machines and configs. Then I'll finalize the build and It will be uploaded to the main page.
This is basically my masterpiece. I'm combining all my knowledge into this, so I hope It'll turn out nicely like I planned.

Augh, extremely frusturating CTD in LURK right now involving approaching the military base in the Cordon. Got no idea what's going on, but Daemonion managed to approach it without triggering the crash but got some kind of two-second lockup, and saved the log, so I'm pasting it here to see if anyone else has ideas.

So I finally fixed up a '74 with a kobra sight in Mizzeri - loaded up with some ammo, and went out to do some target practice on boar. But after a few magazines I noticed that the damage stat was lower than my AKS-74. So I went into the ltx's and compared the hit_power numbers. The 74 was at 60 and the AKS at 59. "Odd" I thought, changed the 74 to 100 for comparisons sake and went back into the game.
However the 74 still has a lower damage stat in-game, and seems to be hitting for the same damage. Anyone know why this might be the case? I know there are different qualities for each weapon - and I've checked under the corresponding section for the AKS that I have equipped.
But for whatever reason the kobra version still has fewer green bars than the AKS -no matter what I set the hit values to. Somehow the game seems to be ignoring them.
Hit stats are dependent on ammunition type mostly. Go into 'weapons.ltx' and change the ammos hit params accordingly to see difference in game. Do mind, the NPC's will also profit from this.

Steam is 1.0006, you'll need to reinstall and downgrade. I promise you, its totally worth it.

It was a pain in the ass for me to install OGSE on steam but I managed, by default it is missing a registry entry for the game's language, you gotta add this to the SHOC registry entry:

Change its reg version to 1.004, them apply the us 1.005 US patch and make sure you set steam to NOT update your game and you're done!

In call of pripyat just how the fuck do you get to the higher plateau containing stingrays 1 and 4? I've got stingray 3 already but every access point to the higher area is fenced off.

Oh wait, I'm a retard, the Stingray 4 is the one in Jupiter so when you come to the building that the Stingray 4 is housed at, take and immediate right and drop down. You'll discover a tunnel that will take you to the correct area where the Stingray 4 is located.
Can't remember which number corresponds to what helicopter, but the one above the circus anomaly (big circular crater with 2 fire anomalies whizzing around it) requires you talk to Noah at his barge, he'll show you to a space bubble anomaly which'll teleport you to the plateau. The one in the Iron Forest requires you follow the path up to it.

I already know that and I've already taken the burnt farmstead teleport. That's how I got to helicopter 3. The problem is that helicopters 1 and 4, the ones way fucking south of that, are on an even higher plateau that I can't get to.

Okay, they're on another level, you can't reach them by simply walking, you'll have to contract a guide to take you to the other level.

I might be a bit stupid actually, it gave me a quest to follow after finding the helicopters in the north area but I just never looked at it.
Still trying to downgrade to version 1.0005. Nothing I've tried has worked and I've done everything the internet has suggested, including pirating an older version of the game nonsteam. I'm done, the zone doesn't deem me worthy.

I had a retail copy lying around but it ended up getting lost when I had to move. Now I'm stuck with my Steam copy but I'm probably going to order another retail copy so I have the freedom to choose what patch I want.
Does the GOG version come unpatched or is it forced to 1.0006?

In the first screen, there actually IS something off, proportion wise. I mean, the bunker is 1/5 of the length of the electrical thing and almost as tall as the 3 story building? And the trees are like 2 times the 3 story building etc.
From the ground up it looks nice, but other than that ...
