Uh oh. There's an Alpha Squad of 15~ guys surrounding the outside of Yanov. Every time I open the doors they begin firing, and I can't take out any of my weapons until a good 15 feet away from the doors. [editline]4th March 2014[/editline] Wish me luck!

I just almost got away before one popped out of behind Zulu's tower and mowed me down. It also doesn't help that the NPC counter bumped up about 10 after I ran in that direction, so I have a feeling that things are going to become a lot more lively. I hired some stalkers to take me up to the Sawmill, and as soon as everything loaded in there were about 30 bandits all clustered up outside, and I knew I could see an Alpha Squad or two further to the right of the road. I ran down the hill and tossed about 20 F1s. I'm glad that they're so plentiful, but it's a pain when NPCs are tossing them just as much as you. I think I get an average of two F1s or RDG5s from everyone I end up in combat with. The wage-forces were horrible to fight, too. Every single one of them had a shotgun (usually a Chaser or USAS) as well as more grenades than I have ever had to avoid. I envy their 100% accurate, perfect throwing arms.
Stalkers could organize their own NFL team in some mods.

Alpha squad spawns can get a little wonky, especially when you use the "can you lead me somewhere" fast travel. Pretty much 50 percent of the time I'll arrive at wherever I traveled to, and then an alpha squad literally pops into existence a few feet away.

Oh man, defending the swamps from bandits in SPARTAN 11:11 (the CS mod that makes you fight exosuited bandits in the swamps) was nuts. Turned out pretty cool though, turned the fight for the swamps from a few skirmishes into a multi-day all-out war.
Game just told me my save is corrupt, happened after pripyat tunnel :(

I've got a rotation of 10 saves. Loaded an autosave from right before I went into pripyat underground, seems to work out.
I always just save a backup around the same time that I quicksave.
So, as i see it - most of you guys prefer SGM over misery. What's the best version of SGM?
2.1 is the best, IMO. 2.2 is newer but has a lot of missing content. It's a bit more work to install, since you have to install SGM 2.1, Atmosfear 3, and the gun fix/AF3 merge/MSO patch in the right order. Just read the readmes and you'll be fine.
I've finally (a bit late, maybe) acquired that unique Vintar that only uses dum-dums. Please tell me it's possible to buy those fucking things somewhere. I've come across 60~ in 25 hours of play, all of which I used on a psuedogiant mid loot-haul. [editline]5th March 2014[/editline] I sold off my other primaries before looking at the ammo it uses. Oh god what have I done.
reached Call of Pripyat rank in SGM. this was parallel to running into 3 alpha squads at the same time, and acquiring an M82.
