Thank you so much for that link, I have been searching for this site forever.
Man, I'd forgotten how nuts SGM's freeplay is. "Congrats on finishing the story! Here's 400 zombies that will continue spawning near you until you kill them all. Also, since you're in Pripyat, have a Monolith squad attack every couple of minutes." I went back to Yanov and zombies are laying siege to the station and the scientists' bunker. I've been killing zombies for a solid hour and there's still ~250 of them left.
No matter how many times I sleep in Misery 2.1, the mutant horde near the entrance to the Jupiter plant building is always there, and I get this crash loading a quicksave or regular save at a point where the horde has been alerted :/
stack trace:
0023:0B3D0AC0 xrGame.dll, CxIOFile::Scanf()
At this point, going to have to find an RPG-7, annihilate the horde with as much explosives as I can bring to bear, and then leave the level entirely until i'm certain whatever might cause that problem is despawned and gone.

Tried with F1s, VOG-25s and an AEK-971 and still got whacked by a controller.

Wow, this one is really interesting! Is there any way to install 1.0004 patch for SoC in steam? iirc, there is 1.0006 version or later, i'm not sure.

You probably have a Russian version of Stalker in your steam. Check it here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/ If you do have "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (RU)", then the steps are a little bit different, I'll tell you what has worked for me.
Your registry will be almost completely empty, so you'll need to add stuff yourself. Mine looks like this:

(not pictured: cd key)
Of course you'll need to change your version to 1.0003
You will have to download the Russian patch, filename should be stksfkrpatchany5.exe
next, do as it says in the tutorial: it will install into C:\Program Files (x86)\GSC World Publishing\S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and just copy that stuff into your steam stalker installation. Next, download a russian 1.0004 no-cd fix, and you're all set. I've been playing like that for a week and had zero problems.
Played the Fotograf mod before. I have to say it's pretty interesting, but the main quest is extremely easy to break, so always have at least several hard saves just in case.
Oh man, I love that. SGM tends to either break the shit out of main missions or have side missions that break and stop displaying a marker on the map, but are still completable. For example, I did the "Operation Volcano" mission before the mission where you find the soldier that gets killed by a controller. Then the controller mission "updated," I lost the map marker and going to the area where it was didn't spawn any of the actors it was supposed to. I fixed it by just making the mission complete when you talk to Kowalski.
Man, SGM 2.1 is teaching me quite a bit about STALKER modding :v:
So, I downloaded STALKERSOUP 109940 and tried to extract it, but I can't. I open the .001 file with WinRar and it says corrupt, what can I do?
what can I do?
You could try joining the files with Hjsplit before trying to extract it or something.
I've still not got a knife or any melee item in Legendary and I've been playing for hours.
Also there are literally dwarves everywhere. A group of about 5 hit the duty checkpoint in garbage when I left for the bar last time, I dare not go back to garbage anymore.
Best mod.
I wonder if anyone has learned Russian just so they could play and understand everything going on in these fancy rus mods.

*raises hand*
Lil tip for SGM starting up by the way: try to get 80 spares for Cardan as soon as you can. Dirt cheap weapon upgrades.

That fucker charges out the ass for repairs.
Also some fucked up thing I noticed, I looted a killer AEK off of an alpha squad once but when I go to repair it the tech always charges me a certain percent of my money not a fixed rate. Is that actually supposed to happen? I've never noticed it until now and it's kind of bullshit.
I always end up giving tools to Nitro, I don't have to get him drunk to get cheap repairs.
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
Also, since when does anyone have to worry about money in SGM?

Also, since when does anyone have to worry about money in SGM?
Afaik Cardan gives you cheaper repairs when drunk (or after having him fix the gauss rifle) and with the 80 parts bonus than even Nitro with Duty loyalty and the 80 parts bonus. I find arseloads of vodka on corpses anyway, so I prefer to use him. Plus, he gives you the exo running upgrade, though I think SGM's special exos come with running ability available already.

I'm not usually worried but the god cannon I'm using must have terrible reliability because I can barely back it across Zaton and back without going to nearly 50%.
I would advise most people to not wander into Cordon and beyond like I've done though, Cordon and Svamps have no good traders and are mostly full of ass bandits. Only go there when you've gotten decent upgrades for your equipment and a silly amount of ammo.

I came back there in my game when I had a fully upgraded PKM with 2000 rounds. Needless to say, nothing that said "cheeki breeki" survived in the end.

invade cheeki remove breeki
One thing I don't like about SGM is that it removes the hostile bandit squads after you get the Friend of Stalkers achievement. In vanilla it was pretty neat that bandits would attack me since I sided with the loners. I kill every bandit I find anyway though, subhuman scum.
I can't install 1.0006 for SOC which is required for the soup (I think), it says
---------------------------
Setup
---------------------------
File "V:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl\bin\XR_3DA.exe" checksum doesn't match the original.
The file is incorrect and/or is damaged.
It is recommended to reinstall the game from the original medium.
---------------------------
OK

edit: apparently 3 gigabytes of files were missing from the directory. ???
1.0006? That's a thing now, and not a broken MP-only patch?

Whenever I see bandit scum attacking loners I always silently take them out and let the loners loot the corpses.
If I follow the whole Cordon set of main missions that take you into swamps etc does it still route back to the main story or is it something different entirely?

1.006 should be the Steam version unless you've disabled Steam updates.
One thing I don't like about SGM is that it removes the hostile bandit squads after you get the Friend of Stalkers achievement.
Just set them to -5000 base relation toward you in the game_relations.ltx.
1.0006? That's a thing now, and not a broken MP-only patch?
It's been floating around for quite some time now, but for some reason Steam decided to implement it recently and it forced the 1.006 update on many users and that broke 1.004 using mods for quite many.
Hence the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modding scene is sort of transitioning towards 1.006 such as Autumn Aurora 2 forcing people to use 1.006 patch and Zone of Alienation trying to make the transition to 1.006 sometime later. I think that some modders have said that 1.006 enables something that 1.005 didn't but I don't really know what that is.

1.0006 opens up the engine, allowing .DLL modifications to be done more easily, at the cost of some loss in the scripting department. Some code has been removed, while other code has been added in etc. This allows mods like OGSE and the likes to implant new feature which wouldn't have worked on 1.0005 (soft particles, new AA variants etc.)
Now, when I start a new game it does this:
Expression : E
Function : CLevel::cl_Process_Spawn
File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\Level_network_spawn.cpp
Line : 21
Description : wpn_pb
do you need to install the "STALKERSOUP_BARE_GAMEDATA_109940" thing too?
What's a commander in SGM?
Now it just doesn't load, freezes when it's almost done.
The bugtrain has no brakes.
What's a commander in SGM?
The bosses of the factions that were added by SGM. I know of the locations of only 4 though. One is at the Theater in Pripyat, one is at Ranger Station in Zaton. The other two are in Jupiter, one is the head of Dawn i think, and he shows up at the northern train tunnel after the mission for the psy artifact. The last one i know of is the Mercs near the Concrete Bath Anomaly.
