In theory, yes, you should be able to. If not directly, then possibly through steam support if you provide evidence of owning a legitimate copy
If only buying Steam cards on amazon wasn't a huge waste of money I would just do that. Dammit Zone just let me get Call of Pripyat from you. I am just afraid that if I buy a disk version all the mods wouldn't work due to it not being up to date. I already have SoC on Steam but I lack the cash to purchase CoP. Thing is, I have a gift card on amazon, that's why I'm asking.
Doesn't he die?
Everyone carries a little section of his soul, and when they all meet he will rise again from our very souls.
So, Polygon did this nice little article on the collapse of GSC and what happened afterward. It's a good read.

It's so strange that, to this day, there is no solid reason as to why Grigorovich company closed the company.
well it's pretty clear that he largely didn't care for his workers, considering he pocketed almost all the money. i guess eventually he just realized that he'd already made a million dollars, got his name out there as a successful businessman, didn't care for the people working for him, and didn't care enough to see the game finalized. i can see why he just went with "personal reasons" as his excuse if that's the case.

basically he read one too many Ayn Rand novels (one, specifically) and went insane

I also heard that the publishers owe him money for CS and CoP.
juggling the lives of the 3 duty hostages in SoC is a tedious task which you shouldn't attempt

I've done this before. If you give the prisoner the right gun he'll rack up a big bodycount on his way out without getting hit too many times. Of course, a lot of it is up to luck and pathing too.
EDIT: I'm trying to get the new Misery version working from a fresh CoP install, but I keep getting a crash. I'm using the Misery Unofficial Patch as well.

Also, this is my opinion and no I'm not biased even though I'm part of the Gunslinger team
I'd like to formally submit my application to be a tester
There anyway to edit the files so NPCs aren't psychic and can't see in the fucking dark? I'm getting fucked by the Mercs in the Waste Plant because they're all telekinetic or some shit. Also where do I edit npc bullet resistances?

nope, no way.
Only guy who has done it is Holden in LURK, but it had some trade offs.
Basically, they all have predator thermal view
I really want to love PGR. But my bullets might as well be nerf darts if they're not AP. I load an entire magazine of FMJ into a trenchcoat bandit and all he does it flinch. That's such bullshit.
Clear sky with the clear sky 2014 mod is great, also Toz-34 master raace
It's amazing how much of a visual improvement clear sky 2014 feels like just because the guy added brand new arm meshes for the guns.
why does npcs have to be bullet sponges
leak it
fucking LEAK IT you BASTARD
Are there any plans to change the gameplay in any way? Or does it just add/replace guns and add those anims? The closer to Redux in terms of brutality, supply scarcity, economy and lack of HUD, the happier I'll be.
Will there still be weapon upgrades, and will the weapons behave the same as vanilla other than aesthetically?
There's a lot in the mod that's going to make everyone in the community drool at their screens.
One of these would be upgrades with mesh modifications. (Meaning, you install a bigger mag, BAM BIGGER MAG IN THE MODEL!) There's loads more, but Wolf is a pretty strict guy :v:

Hi,
PR / CR on the MISERY team, nice to meet ya. Tell me, what's it that you're sceptical about?

Also, he might do something like this in the near future for some stuff, but as it stands now, it's deactivated :v:

Clear Sky with REBORN is the best.

Oh sweet. It's more a matter of preference really.
I appreciate the Idea of your mod and love it even, i love it when the game is difficult.
But i think that Misery makes it difficult in a different kinda of way though, it might be minor for you but it's a huge problem for me. I enjoy your reasoning that hunting is expensive. I do, love that you have to think "Will it profit me to spend my bullets killing that Flesh?" It's interesting. But it's about the spongey npc's though. I don't feel its right that killing a man should cost me my entire "economy" of bullets because they somehow have space marine esque bonemass .
But despite that, Misery has been pretty alright so far. I've yet to see the "endgame" yet.
But oh well.
[editline]24th March 2014[/editline]
redux does this very well
[editline]24th March 2014[/editline]
it has that difficulty that they can kill me just as easy as i can kill them
One shot to the head, no matter the bullet = dead
Find a 7.62 rifle, set it in semi auto and blast away. Wrecks people.
Glad I found a FAL at the waste processing station.

What mod? Any mod with a FAL is worth playing.
That said Legendary made FAL a whimp gun compared to just about every other rifle thats easily available ;(

When you get to 7.62x51 guns in Misery, the differences in accuracy, damage and whatnot become minor enough that you can choose the gun you like rather than merely the one that'll kill the other guy before he kills you.

I was just about to say this, thanks
basically he read one too many Ayn Rand novels (one, specifically) and went insane
But Ayn Rand's holy words prove she's a true apostle of the greater economic theories. If this is the path he took, then at least he's finally found spirituality.
ayn rand a shit
I get horrible load times with Misery, didn't try vanilla (like 5min on first load)
I remember fixing it last time i played about a year ago, but can't remember what i did.. Any help?
Was it a clean install of CoP? If yes, did you ever in this year defragment your drive?
i get horrible load times if i accidentally set CoP to compatibility mode at all outside of running as administrator for whatever reason.
a cheap way of getting insan load speeds is running through all the textures with a texture optimizer and installing a caching SSD (RST or sandisk cache), though.
Was it a clean install of CoP?
Yes, just downloaded it on steam.
If yes, did you ever in this year defragment your drive
Absolutely not.. just might do it

I really remember having horrible load times on CoP too, but i fixed it somehow(was getting 30sec max load times after), either it was a fixed exe, prefetch options or admin/compatibility
With absolute nature lite i get slightly over a minute long loads which really puts me off from playing CoP
IIRC, the -noprefetch line doesn't work for CoP, you have to manually replace the prefetch files.
