eventually you just have to let go and I think that time has come now for LA tbh, I cannot wait though, it's out the day I get back from training camp woop
For me it's 3 days after I'm already gone to Europe for 6 months. :v:
definitely gonna be throwing a good 30 quid at the devs on release
We should build a list of FP stalkers who will donate on release of LA.
Dunno why I didn't get around to trying AA2 earlier, it's actually pretty good. Is there a weapons expansion for it, or am I confusing that with another mod combination?
No, sadly is just vanilla weapons+2, 3 new ones, maybe you thought about ZoA or SGM?
But to answer your question, I'd understand some Mercenary groups, particularly ones that hail from NATO-type countries and have military experience in the special forces of those countries, would want to use the weapons they're more familiar with, know the ins and outs of, and benefit from the extra precision/technical jibberjabber that supposedly raises that one weapon above the rest so therefore there is a need for western weapons as well as slav ones.
Even some SF guys in Afghanistan started using 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 AK's due to widespread usage and ammo availability, I reckon it would be same in Ukraine
I still don't understand why the LA team all blew a fuse. Even with the mod did get leaked, how does that affect them in any way other than people seeing the work they've done? If they were planning on selling the game but think people would just download the leak instead they should look at the fact that every game has torrents available for them no matter what you do. It's all up to the honesty of the users to pay for it. Even if the game never got leaked, I reckon that the results post-release would be about the same.
To think that they need to spend another year remaking everything "to make it interesting again" also sounds ridiculous because:
A. I didn't download the leak
B. I am still interested in it
C. If you had it right the first time, why change it?
Essentially the best way for them to go about it is to write a massive "fuck you" letter (which they have succeeded in doing already) and continue with the way things were.
have a LURK 1.2 GSh-18 because I like you guys

Dez0wave doesn't get to make that call whether they'll sell it or not, it was down to GSC approving Lost Alpha being endorsed as an official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. title and now GSC doesn't want to go about self-publishing the title, hence the only option for dez0wave team is to release it for free or not release it at all.
they should look at the fact that every game has torrents available for them no matter what you do.
Thing is, most of those games have had to pay for the development costs already, so when the game unfortunately leaks, they have already paid so much for the development that it wouldn't make any sense to not publish the game at all. With dez0wave and Lost Alpha's case, the development of LA hasn't cost even a penny to GSC Game World until now, in the release phase, since they would have to self-publish it and do the marketing themselves, both of which cost money. Still, I don't really think it was about the money, more about the circumstances that other posters here have mentioned earlier, that Dez0wave didn't really have a very solid working relationship with GSC Game World and the promises of Lost Alpha having the chance to be integrated into the official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game franchise were loose at best, and GSC saw a chance to back out of their promises so they did.

Hi ppl ! Until the weekend will spread "COP OWR 2 with weapons addon" Compatibility Patch...

Like any other gun ever made. I don't disparage M4, I don't know much about it, but it really has this reputation that's stuck to it. Especially around former USSR. And then again, given the setting we're talking about, why would someone possibly need M4s over AKs? Both would work, but one of them is cheaper, more widespread, easy-to-get round caliber etc.
It could be I'm just biased in favor of the M4, having had much more contact with it than with AKs.
Don't get me wrong though, the AK is a damn good weapon. Reliable as fuck, built like a brick and doesn't need much maintenance at all compared to the M4. If it has one flaw at all, it's the sights. The blade and notch setup is harder to use than the aperture you see on American weapons.
Alright, as much as I love LA, I swear to god. Someone better replace that AK. It's a huge grudge of mine since SoC was released for the ejection port to be on the left side.
It irritates me. Call me a sperglord, or whatever. I just have a general dislike for it.
Ahhhh
Thiking about LA being ripped apart and slavshit mods using its pieces reminds me of John Carpenter's "The Thing" or that crappy movie with Lee Curtis, "Virus".
NOW that's would piss me off way more than seeing it leaked per se.

It's inevitable... It has a new usable render, newer engine, great new maps to use, lots of new features and everything. Personally I've been waiting all this time to do that as well, modding soc felt kind of pointless this late already. But yes, it's just a matter of time until russian Lost Alpha 3.0 and Narodnaya Alphayanka (this time featuring over 80 maps) rise up from the ashes.
Come think about it
 LA is gonna be releaseeeeeeeeed

That's the beauty of open source modding (which LA is definitely not, but cheeki breeki)
i've literally just heard about the LA internal prototype leak
jesus christ
dealing with internal leaks is crushing. they got my praise for continuing towards the finish line. you can guarantee i'll be playing it on the 26th.

Facepunch Stalker megathreads should have their own "cheeki breeki i v damke" smiley.:v:
I heard level design is extremely well done but not much new in AI or A-Life (But that is just mainly my personal interest)
I heard level design is extremely well done but not much new in AI or A-Life (But that is just mainly my personal interest)
So they didn't totally revamp the AI?
This unfortunate event crosses out any chances to release LA as an official addon to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. LA will be released as an addon for free.
Wow why did they leak it? Does this mean there is no chance of them making STALKER 2 now?
Dez's own words on modDB:
We know who leaked it, he wanted to make 1st of April 'joke' - without informing us - and to boost the view count of his site. We asked him several times to take them down because it can turn out bad, but he said he won't, and we should not worry, because the files are passcoded...
Whoever that leaker was, he's a total douche. Dezowave is really nice for not naming and shaming him, but I really hope we find out so that he can be forever excluded from any other STALKER project.
As for the whole GSC refusing to publish them now, that's just shameful on behalf of GSC. They used a flimsy pretext at best to back out of their original agreements. It wouldn't cost a dime to actually publish the addon on Steam because of the whole Steamworks thing and of course them having three titles on there already. The marketing is pretty much the only thing that would come out of GSC's pocket, and Sergei has more than enough to cover that with all that many he robbed from the original STALKER devs. Maybe now GSC will end up falling apart because of them being a defunct game developer with only a skeleton crew running the place. They had the chance to publish a game that garnered them absolutely no development costs whatsoever and they blew it. The only thing keeping that company afloat is the sales for the original STALKER games.
Oh well at least LA is being officially released within this month, albeit at the cost of being a bit rough around the edges. Dezodor and his team pledged to continue updating the game with patches and content releases over the coming months, he said to think of it as an early access release.
Thanks for the support, I edited the news a bit, because trying to answer to hundreds of questions is impossible now. :)
There will be support for the game of course, we will release patches, updates to make it even better, but we decided release it officially on 26th of April to avoid any further leaks.
The leaked build dates back to Nov 5, 2013, which was an early render test, I still say, you should wait until the official release, because the difference is real big. Thanks for your understanding. :)
I vote to discourage any posts on the current leaked version and we should all wait to play the official release in order to avoid spoilers and shit.
i know what my day on the 26th is going to be like.
this takes me back to waiting for cry of fear to release. it was so tense.
oh god I'm so hyped for the 26th
like
seriously
I haven't felt this much hype since I was waiting for CoP. And CS. And SoC...
OH MY GOD I hope I get that feeling again.
The feeling of setting foot outside Sid's bunker for the first time, in the morning light.
The feeling of stepping into Agroprom Underground for the first time, with that squeaking light.
The pure fucking awesome feeling of awe and wonder at the Zone around you.
There is not a single game that has given me that feeling since SoC.
the fact that LA finally has fixed vehicles with a proper sense of weight makes me so happy. my complaint with STALKER mods has mostly been how horrid the vehicles are
along with pretty much restoring the majority of GSC's original vision
I think we should be careful with getting too hyped; eventually it's going to reach the point that it can't ever be as good as people want it to be.
Either that or it turns out to be absolutely fantastic.
Either that or it turns out to be absolutely fantastic.
Hopefully snorks won't be saying "Get out of here Stalker!", and traders won't explode into a billion guns.
I think we should be careful with getting too hyped; eventually it's going to reach the point that it can't ever be as good as people want it to be.
It's only a few weeks.
Honestly, I'm expecting it to be like SoC after waiting for it since 2002.
It won't be quite what I expected but it's still one hell of an experience.
Yeah, it's just something to be careful with. I don't get over hyped for any game stuff nowadays and I always end up happier for it when I'm pleasantly surprised. Hell, I don't even know anything about LA except that it adds in zones from old builds. Did they do a lot on the gameplay side, or is mostly just new areas and such?
So I just started playing Misery, tweaked it a little bit and started as a sniper. I like the feeling of being constantly on the edge of death, having to scrape through as best I can. Hoping there is a large weapon variety, and I heard there are things like Depleted Uranium bullets which is kinda freakin cool.
One thing though, and this is just a pet peeve of mine as opposed to anything wrong with the mod itself, I don't like how the health and stamina bars are free floating. I know that probably sounds stupid, but I like for things like that to have frames or something, is there anything I can do about that? Like adding a little rusted metal frame around them so they aren't just floating in space on the side of my screen?

Open it up in paint.net and give them a backdrop / frame
