Taryn is an awesome individual. She's been on the MISERY team for over 7 months now.
Even worse
Just set my text message notification sound as the PDA objective update sound from stalker Anybody have the SoC beep sound for approaching anomalies? I want to edit that so my ringtone sounds like I'm about to run into an anomaly
Anyone got one of those universal SOC acdc's for all.spawn, which take the config folder of any mod and automatically make it able to decompile it? Those do exist, right?
this tremor replacements name is almost not funny and he has the same voice too
Frozen Zone small update. [t]http://i.minus.com/iAGHwz6skijut.jpg[/t] Seems like he's using "Shades" gasmask.
What I don't understand is why Lost Alpha can't be released as an addon due to the leak, I'm not savvy with how this works.
You are a pretty narrow minded individual, aren't you?
Please, let's not have this thread end up turning into a flame war or anything bad because of a couple posts. We've come so far in keeping this thread extremely peaceful. Anyways, in hopes of swaying things in a better direction, I have a question: In OGSE, should I be worried about Agroprom once I exit the underground area? I heard it is absolute hell when you reach the surface.
What I don't understand is why Lost Alpha can't be released as an addon due to the leak, I'm not savvy with how this works.
L.A. is a standalone mod. They are releasing it, thereby meaning they have support from GSC. However, the big fuss is about them not releasing it as a fourth installment to the series for money. GSC gave these guys old build SDK stuff a long time ago before they released it to the public, in hopes they would create a great mod; they were fans of Priboy Story. AFAIK, there was no deal then but it caused a big shit storm in the modding community because Dez0wave had access to tools they didn't. L.A. was supposedly done over a year ago (Actually in DEC 2011 they said they would finish in the next 6 months) and they made deals with GSC to release it officially. They had polish it up and add more tutorials. From what I know about the leaked build (Which is 6 months old) It has big errors, like save corruption, waypoint crashes, broken A.I., broken enhanced DX9, and some other stuff. It is not suitable to be a 4th game without at least another years work. It is being released in a state that the team originally wanted, anyway, so I don't know why they are upset except for the fact they aren't getting money.
L.A. will never be finished
Why would GSC pay Dez0wave when other great mods have been released in their 7 year stead? Misery 2 probably sold a shit ton of copies of Call of Pripyat and nobody was paid there; most certainly didn't pass any Quality Assurance standards GSC would have, either.

[t]http://i.minus.com/iAGHwz6skijut.jpg[/t] Seems like he's using "Shades" gasmask.
Damn. Still, not having the foliage move when you move through them will pain my heart. This made Crysis 1 so immersive for me (as well as later titles like FC3). Adds that slight dynamic feel to it

I love the idea of wondering around a massive forest not being able to see shit because of how overgrown it is.
You are a pretty narrow minded individual, aren't you?
We've seen MISERY's team post on ModDB and at times it can be very cringe worthy.
We've seen MISERY's team post on ModDB and at times it can be very cringe worthy.
I'd suggest you to take it to PM with me if you want to easy the pressure on your heart a bit, I'm willing to listen to anything you say, as long as you don't put every member in the same corner.
I hope some of those dense levels we've seen of LA look like this when walking around. I love the idea of wondering around a massive forest not being able to see shit because of how overgrown it is.
I wish the Zone was more overgrown as it is. Pripyat in CoP is a start, with some buildings having weird mutant vines growing up them. But to make it perfect, it'd have to be like, a little below Crysis 3 level. Foliage and nature overtaking every manmade building...it'd be so cool.
We've seen MISERY's team post on ModDB and at times it can be very cringe worthy.
People like Cromm Cruac and DavidME have been on team at one point. Do you think less of them now? Just directly blame Loner, he is PR. haha EDIT:
I wish the Zone was more overgrown as it is. He couldn't see mutants in the foilage, but he could hear them. Scary!

Also, even you, off all people, did spend some time in the forums, eh? ;p (jk jk) -- Yo, btw, alun. What's up with Bangalore? He's pretty short-tempered from what I've noticed. When I made that reaction towards you about particle work, I explicitly told you guys I'm in my exam period so I would't be able to work fast. After approx 2 weeks of me being absent I got an email on my phone from moddb with his reaction to his last PM in it. I'll leave it at this, but I'll PM you tomorrow with the explanation etc. Don't want this to go unsolved :v:
You'll love L.A. then. Our source is probably the same (Tejas)
That's one things I always wished the games had more of. A lot more overgrown areas, and much denser building areas. The Zone always looked fairly clean and open for an abandoned hellhole.
That's one things I always wished the games had more of. A lot more overgrown areas, and much denser building areas. The Zone always looked fairly clean for an abandoned hellhole.
Resource intensive.
Resource intensive.
... if it were be done in the older SHOC / CS / CoP Xray engines. IIRC Dez his team managed to up the poly count from 3,7 million to roughly +7,2, meaning almost twice the amount of objects can be shown in game. This, in combination with proper multicore support, will prove itself to be the most stable stalker experience (with the utmost capable exception of CoC, by our community godlike scripter himself Alundaio ;p ).
Stop hyping me up for LA god damnit Already hyped enough as is, don't need to make the wait harder It's always the final stretch that's the hardest
some of the music that was cut from the final release is really, really good vladimir frey's music work is really unique and a healthy source of inspiration for me
Stop hyping me up for LA god damnit Already hyped enough as is, don't need to make the wait harder It's always the final stretch that's the hardest
For some reason I think LA will actually be one of the very, very few games ever until now that will live up to it's hype. But, you're right. I will end it here.
Also, even you, off all people, did spend some time in the forums, eh? ;p (jk jk)
That is a story of loss, love and heartache.
Yo, btw, alun. What's up with Bangalore? He and I decided that you are pure evil hiding in a charismatic cloak of lovableness. I can't speak for him. But if he told you to screw off, it means he loves you. Language barrier.

[editline]7th April 2014[/editline] And you can't forget this masterpiece
It is all most certainly amazing.
still easily some of the best dark ambient music that i know of, on par with artists like lushmord and groups like zoviet france
You might like this as well. [editline]7th April 2014[/editline] And this, though not quite so much dark ambient.
Frozen zone and lost alpha are two things I am looking forward to the most. Oh and also the next release of OGSE. It's amazing to see how many years later a game which performed like syrup at launch and years later get filled up with new and interesting content thanks to a creative fan-base, filled with everything from amateurs to experienced coders, artists and etc. Stalker and games like Half-life, Fallout and Postal 2 has mods that prolongs the lives of them to almost a extreme count. But I think the best example is ID's game DOOM, amazing to see that people still fiddle with it 20 years later. The main factor for DOOM's life-length is that ID made the code accessible for anyone, which sadly I do not think will happen to stalker unless some very generous and friendly company spits out a ridiculous sum of money for the engine and the brand.
Stalker music reminds me of Quake 1 mixed with Diablo 1 mixed with The Thing (1982), which I love I love the darker outdoor ones like this one (which especially reminds me of The Thing) Makes exploring hella sinister and foreboding versus stuff like the zaton day music or the cordon music.
