where be da redux 2.0??
THe quests and open linearity of COP is what wins for me. It shows how much GSC improved with time. Yeah, hope LA is a merge between both.
I have a feeling it will be, since the maps are enormous in size and very open (some of the beta maps are literally the size of CoP maps or slightly bigger) but it has many maps to travel through like SoC, so it may well be nice and open while still retaining that progression and escalation that added to the danger and compelling progression of the first game.
I hope LA will have some sort of fast travel system. It'd be hella annoying to have to walk through all the levels just to turn in a mission
c'mon april 25th-26th, you're almost here
I hope LA will have some sort of fast travel system. Unless maybe the car gives you fast travel access?
i wanna see x-ray's source code released under gnu.
Trying to get my friend to play SoC It just, doesn't like him. It freaks out when he changes options, and it just crashed while he tried to use a bandage...
: FATAL ERROR [error]Expression : assertion failed [error]Function : CInventory::Eat [error]File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\Inventory.cpp [error]Line : 892 [error]Description : pIItem->m_pCurrentInventory==this stack trace:
The hell :v:
Specific patch 1.0006 errors, he should roll back to 4th or 5th patch, because that patch has some issues with inventory.
i wanna see x-ray's source code released under gnu.
That'd be cool but it won't happen. (And you mean GPL, I imagine)
I hope LA will have some sort of fast travel system.
Imo any kind of out-of-body fast travel system would just cheapen the impact of the levels and make cars completely pointless when you could just fly around with your magic carpet for next to no cost. I mean, it'd be okay if some mods implemented it into Lost Alpha after the fact, but in the release it would be just cheap. Having played the leak, the travel between levels doesn't take that long even if they are significantly larger than SoC. If there is no fast travel, it makes the cars more important and a persistent resource to manage like you have to put some effort into repairing one, fueling one, and planning on where you can drive with the cars and where to keep them so they don't get destroyed or something. This whole tactical element would be lost if you could just use a 'magic carpet' NPC to warp between different levels. [editline]herp[/editline]
How were the textures, sounds, models and animations in the leak?
Personally I'm not too fussed about graphical detail, but it looks great while all the same remaining very faithful to the SoC / old builds look. Animations are [sp]a mixture of beta builds and Vanilla SoC.[/sp] Sound design is fine but [sp]the mutant sounds are odd and kind of echo-y. It's not necessarily bad, it's just all around weird.[/sp] The weapons sounds, [sp]at least the default AKS-74, sounds like it's straight from 1935 build[/sp] I don't know though, the leak is from last October so they might've as well changed around many things. I guess we'll see on Saturday.

Do they need to be replaced with existing overhaul mods?
Having played the leak...
How would you summarize your experience with the leaked version so far? Is it worth the hype?
Are there any good mods for Call of Pripyat that add an entirely new map with new quests and all?
How would you summarize your experience with the leaked version so far?
It's really hard to talk about anything related to it without spoiling things or revealing too much, so I really want to leave it at saying that it has an atmosphere unlike any of the other (vanilla) games, and it plays quite different from any of the vanilla games. Gear progression is much slower than SoC or maybe even Clear Sky. As to whether it's worth the hype ? It is, at least to me but it's not an all around 'perfect' game. There's one aspect of gameplay that feels really neglected, but it might be chalked up to the fact that the leak is supposed to be a testbed and not a 1:1 on how it's going to be in the final game. I'll definitely be waiting for the official release on Saturday very interested, that's for sure.
Are there any good mods for Call of Pripyat that add an entirely new map with new quests and all?
Valley of Whispers. It has a new custom location that's about as large as Yanov and really well made. It's also a total conversion with a new protagonist and new quests.

Original SoC also wasn't a perfect game, but still it's for me (and probably for the rest of us here on this thread) one of the best games I've ever played. Also slower gear progression is a great feature (at least in my eyes) since it gives you that sense of progression and it might be enhancing survival aspect of the game. Thanks for your answer. Now I'm hyped even more
Valley of Whispers. It has a new custom location that's about as large as Yanov and really well made. I'm finding some forum threads with downloads but they're all either in very broken english or not in english at all.
You know where I can download the latest version of that with the proper translation and all that?
I don't know it's the latest, but /vg/'s S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod repository has it here . The translation might be the usual machine translated nonsense, but from what I've seen from it, it's pretty well understandable nonetheless.
Survarium is open for one day on 25th April, might be worth trying atleast. http://survarium.com/en/news/survarium-access-declared-open
Will be too busy downloading Dark Souls and Lost Alpha :( My bandwidth at home can't take more than that.
i don't have a cap, but i will be occupied with downloading dark souls 2 and lost alpha for sure [editline]21st April 2014[/editline] i decided to look at ye olde STALKER website via archive.com and record the original sound ambiance this is some really amazing sound and music work
no but seriously does anyone know any ways to get this game to run?
Lost World: Origin now has beta translation to English.
I just found that the guys working on Frozen Zone made a CoP mod called Winter of Death, it also seems to have an entirely new map and story and a bunch of new models and all, has anyone played that? Is it good?

Does anyone know what I am meant to do in Lost World when it comes to the Agroprom? I'm in the underground now but I crash when I see a rat. I love this mod, the models are great and such, it's just quite buggy at the moment.
I found out by talking to the military guy and getting the quest to kill the crazy captain. basically, [sp] you have to search agroprom for a dead military guy and take the documents and shit off him[/sp]

nvm snip

Turns out I need to do a quest to take a suit from a zombie to be able to do Yantar in LWO. The zombie which I had already killed the first time I accidentally went to yantar instead of the Dark Valley and whose body is now gone. I'm done.
