EDIT: Contacts crash only happens for me when there are no stalkers in the area.

so much [I]foliage[/I][/QUOTE]Foliage is prolly the reason for the performance problems. I reduced vision distance by a tiny bit and shadows to medium (still pretty bloody good, max must've been 8192 or something absurd) and it runs so much smoother with no noticeable downside.

Grass shadows are the single biggest eater of FPS. Turn those off and your framerate should go up by 20-30.

Fuck. I set all 4 parts to download (from that oblivion site linked earlier) and went to sleep for 2 hours.
Got back and 3 parts are done and the last part failed because the site set the files to hidden.

Now, I just got a crash when I was attacked by rats and what sounded like a pseudodog. Shot the rats fine, and then for no apparent reason:

I've never played Stalker, the mod looks really promising, is most of the vanilla content there or is it like a complete remake or something? Also does it matter if I kill random neutral stalkers?

Instability is not on par with being shite per-se.

To be fair this has been released a lot earlier than it was supposed to have been released. Inconvenient as it may be. I'm sure the team will fix the issues in the coming weeks.
