Looks like Leak version was even more stable than Release. Weird
Just got done installing from the MEGA links, everything worked fine.
Any one know how to fix the no footsteps and echoing sounds? It's kind of annoying.
Enable player shadows in the options from the Game tab. You will lose your legs but at least you can hear your steps and see your shadow.
Well, I'm the kind of person who says he's an idiot when he acts like a stupid moron, so I've figured out where I was wrong. You have to extract it directly into the existing folder that the first part created. I was trying to extract them into individual folders and then was going to combine them manually, because that's what I normally do. All problems were my fault. At least it appears, it's entirely possible it goes tits up at the last second, but chances are I'm just an eejit.
What? I thought when you extracted one it auto-extracted all the others? That's what mine did.
5 hours of downloading, painless install, then boom. "Your video card doesn't meet game requirements." I'm sorry Lost Alpha, is a GTX670 not futuristic enough for you? Do I need to duct-tape in my old 3DFX Glide card to appease you?
I fell asleep. LA is released now?
What? I thought when you extracted one it auto-extracted all the others? That's what mine did.
Entirely possible I'm a triple idiot :v: It's funny, I'm in university, managed to live this far, yet I can fuck up simple things so many times.
Are you really supposed to attack the bandit camp with only 8 bullets? Also does anyone else crash on quickloading?
You need to put ammo on your belt before it can be used.
Sid did say your PDA was damaged. Maybe it's a gameplay feature. Until you fix your PDA your PDA will crash and obviously STALKERS can't live without their PDA so the game saves you the trouble and quits for you
My friend is having trouble saving the game, it doesn't keep his save files??
Besides a few stability issues, game awesome so far? Better or worse than expected?
This is just my opinion, but better. I know it had a long development cycle which it can obviously be attributed to, but it doesn't feel to me like I'm playing a mod.
My friend is having trouble saving the game, it doesn't keep his save files??
Anyone else who's getting these issues, and being unable to change setting and have it stick, where did you install the game? Have you tried running it as administrator? Wanna see if there's a common cause here, or possible solutions that can be ruled out. If it's not those things that cause this problem, that makes it a drastically more weird error, since usually it's an admin privilege problem that causes this same problem across many games. (I generally prefer not to install games in Program Files at all nowadays) EDIT: See 2 posts below.

If not, google that error for vanilla stalker. You can try deleting user.ltx from the install folder and see if that works.
My friend is having trouble saving the game, it doesn't keep his save files??
Tell your friend to right-click the install folder in Program Files, go to the Security and Edit permissions to give yourself full control over the folder. I figured this out because the LA console has an error message related to permissions (aka admin stuff) if you cfg_save (force config save for controls and settings) or when you save in-game. Dez is aware of this and I told him how it's fixed. Probably the installer messing up.

Deleted the file, reinstalled, ran integrity check on the archives, reinstalled the 3rd party stuff, still refuses to run. I'll try it on my weaker 560 rig in a bit.
For footstep sounds, the solution is apparently this:
I just saw this on Modb, posted by a guy called Madapu ''If footsteps sounds in 1st person mode are missing, go to Options -> Game -> Disable the option "Show actor's shadow" (make sure it's not selected on yellow light. '' It worked,i can hear my foot steps, but i can't see my legs. I mean i don't have legs anymore ( in game,of course )
I love how this thread blew up, heading home now. Anyone care to post a mega link? I have 100mb down so the fastest i can get, the better. Ask dez about this and update your drivers
Mega links keep fucking up for me, not finishing the download ill just have to wait for the torrent
Mega links keep fucking up for me, not finishing the download ill just have to wait for the torrent
The torrent (http://gameupdates.org/download.php/5770/LOST_ALPHA_v1.3000_DEZOWAVE.torrent) is ridiculously well seeded atm. It shouldn't be bad.
Lol just found the [sp]dwarf creature living in the village to the northwest of the broken railway bridge.[/sp] Usually I don't expect to find much when exploring villages but I'm glad it payed off this time.
[sp]Where the fuck is Strelok's Stash in Agroprom Underground[/sp] I swear to christ I have been looking for hours.
How do I use the bolt? [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] Also dear god I cant run this mod [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] And does the Options LA button not work?
Marked One, you're a real light weight. One can of beer has him swaying about like a branch in the storm wind.

[editline]27th April 2014[/editline] Also, oh my god, the AI is fucking garbage.
No, it looks great with it on.
As much as I agree with the second half of that sentence, I unfortunately don't have a supercomputer. Besides, the game's graphical effects blow the original trilogy out of the water.
