Wait, is this for real?
We actually have access to the SOC sourcecode???
I just realized even though the AI can be broken, there seems to be a legitimate stealth system in here beyond night and day.
I was able to hide myself from bandits during the day because I was in a dark corner, but as soon as I stepped into the light they'd notice me.
It's pretty simple I think (step into shadow, AI's detection distance drops) but it's pretty cool if you want to sneak around knifing people.

I say again: it's SOC 1.0007 source code, the unreleased patch for SOC, the files dating back to 2010.
We can open it with Visual C++ Express, and build our own binary files.
It's like "monkeys driving space ships" for me.
Anyone would want to help me out on this? I'm trying to fix this:
Happens in army warehouses, [sp]in a mission to go with a contact to merc base, where a scripted blowout happens, actor goes into black screen [/sp](kind of sleep, I've been checking sleep script files mostly because of that), and then it crashes:
Expression : xml_doc.NavigateToNode(path,index)
Function : CUIXmlInit::InitWindow
File : ui\UIXmlInit.cpp
Line : 84
Description : XML node not found
Argument 0 : global_wnd
Argument 1 : ui\game_tutorials_16.xml
(_16 if you use widescreen, or just game_tutorials.xml if you use 4:3, doesn't make a difference)
This is game progress breaking crash, so if someone helped me out on this, it would ensure that you passed it fast as well. I'm looking in scripts and xml files, and can't figure out what's wrong.
Oh man, the quest you do in Dark Valley is cool as fuck.

I understand generally the paths this opens and the ways to utilize the code to a degree. I just meant more in terms of the source code being leaked per-se. Like is it the legitimate source. Which you've cleared up.
This is fantastic!
So in the quest to save Fox, I started a fight in the house and they killed him. How fucked am I?

You won't be getting your weapons or armor fixed or modded anytime soon.
crashes upon launch... "Your video card doesn't meet game requirements. Lower game requirements." 580gtx here.
My video card is around 7 years old (I think) and it works just fine for some reason
[sp]Getting a crash when you have to hitman your way in the Dark Valley bandit base but when you pass his 'test' and you open his safe I get a nasty crash.[/sp]
Lost Alpha is FUCKING BEATHIFUL, i never tough the Xray engine could look so incredible
Only thing i dont like is that it DESTROYS my FPS its playeable but..mehh.. i get 22-30 FPS at daytime and 30-40 while its night
i pretty much maxed out everything but Grass Shadows and reflections
Specs
GPU:GTX 660 TI
Ram:8 GB DDR3
CPU:Intel I5 Quad Core 3.10 GHz
Is there anything i can do to get better FPS?

Turn down grass density to lowest and view distance to half or lower.
Turn down grass density to lowest and view distance to half or lower.
Don't need to be that drastic. I've got the same graphics card, and I found disabling grass shadows, setting SSAO and sunray quality to low (no noticeable difference in quality imo) salvaged a considerable amount of framerate.

Try this maybe?

On a related note, I think some of the options actually don't work. Shadow quality doesn't seem to make any noticeable change in quality, and AA doesn't seem to work particularly well either (really noticeable on the Cordon road; the point near the rookie village at which it starts to dip)
Don't need to be that drastic. I've got the same graphics card, and I found disabling grass shadows, setting SSAO and sunray quality to low (no noticeable difference in quality imo) salvaged a considerable amount of framerate.
I didn't notice any difference in lowering either of those sliders.
I didn't notice any difference in lowering either of those sliders.
Could quite possibly be me being placebo'd, but I found my framerate to be acceptable after those settings where changed. Haven't tried them individually, though, and enormous levels like Bar/Rostok do dip my framerate when I look in certain directions.
I wish there was a bit more life in the Zone. Now that we have those big maps they feel kind of empty as I get further into LA. Going for a desolate feel is nice, but it doesn't really feel like there are any random groups of stalkers or anything.
Seems like areas with a lot of AI hurt FPS a lot more than huge levels with a lot of vegetation do
Also mutants need a buff

Also how would i go around chaging impulse value of all cfg's to something lower with notepad++ ?
Would someone please help me fix shadow of chernobyl? i need to fix it because i am running windows 8.
please stalkers, i am desperate.
wow for anyone having trouble running lost alpha, turn off sun shadows and your fps will boost by like 25
Has anybody completed Dark Valley's lab? Can someone write a guide about what should I exactly do there?

100% real, someone at Dezowave is going to feel Sergei's wrath for it, I'd imagine. The code's mostly undocumented though and there's a few things I'm shocked they ever shipped with.
Okay so I've now beaten Vanilla CoP. What would you guys suggest for my first modded playthrough?

...SGM. :v:
Hold on, this is just like Cry of Fear, doesn't need the game to be played?

On a scale of 1 to "привет блять гандон урод нахуй сука" how Russian are you willing to endure mod-wise?
I seriously wonder how the next weeks will play out. Sergei will probably use legal action against whoever leaked it, I guess it is most likely dezowave.
The code is probably on loads of computers now. Oh jesus I wonder what some educated coders and modders will change in the future.
