Just finally arrived at the Bar in LA. Such a weird convoluted route through the new level, it's refreshing! Especially tricky to find my way in considering it's night-time. If I were a level designer in Dezowave I'd have put up some signs, it would make more sense I think. [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] According to Dez, some levels in LA are pushing the engine limits so hard that even adding one more prop makes the level unable to compile. Compared to SoC's level maxes of 1 million polygons, LA levels can be more like 4 million.
Man I love how "dark" is actually dark in Lost Alpha. At night, I can't even see my hands. Gives me the chills every time.
Gheesh.. I could ran Clear Sky all maxed out while Lost Alpha I'm running Static Lighting with 20 - 100 fps. Kinda makes aiming much more harder. Also, is there any mod or anything that removes headbobbing? It's giving me a headache after several minutes of walking.

I sure am satisfied with that the stealth in LA works well enough so that I was able to sneak the Agroprom Documents mission entirely. And it was a positive surprise to see that the Bar area in LA is better optimized than it is in ShoC.

Is there any way to specifically tweak the ridiculous non-staggering view bob that happens when you drink? Because I understand giving a downside to using vodka, and I understand trying to make it difficult to see when you've just downed a whole bottle of it, but that's just ridiculous. I don't get motion sickness and it was making me sick. The fact that it lasts like two solid minutes just makes it worse. I shouldn't have to weigh the pros and cons between radiation sickness ingame and motion sickness out of game.

The only thing that I have enjoyed so far is the mapping, everything else is just worse. Especially the AI (no fighting ability or awareness) and mutant balancing (can kill bloodsucker with two shots from Makarov). The sound effects are also really bad, especially on the mutants like dogs/boars/fleshes and there are heaps of issues that need to be fixed

I wanted it to know about some classes or how some functions are calculated. It is also very interesting to see how Dimitry designed some A-Life features and maybe I can take that knowledge and apply it to some other project in the future. It's 1.0007 version, if it was 1.6 X-Ray I would be pissing blood, you would see standalone CoC if that were true, with ALL maps from every stalker game and all cut SoC/CS features removed in CoP. But of course it would have to be "leaked" with all references to it's creators removed. ;)

The Bar side of the map works flawlessly, but Wild Territory side visibly slows it down. Also I noticed that idle campfire stalkers take longest to react. Most combat I got into that didn't involve bandits went mostly expected, though I prefer daytime combat.
I played Lost Alpha for a little, and after trying a few things out concluded that there was a lot of immersion breaking stuff that was unfinished... plus it seems the optimization is lacking and so is the stability (for my standards). Waiting till patched.
I must have run through the tunnels in Cordon like ten fucking times before realizing there's no fence on the right of the bridge. Also I walked onto the actual bridge and thousands of "STOP OR I'LL SHOOT" lines started playing one after the other. I played for like ten minutes until it actually stopped.

The issue with touching the sun_lumscale which has become apparent to me now is that it isn't a base ambient intensity but rather only appears when the sun is out. This basically means underground areas are lit up only when the sun is out above ground, even though it never reaches down below.
Is chatting with other STALKERS broken?

It also feels kind of...bad to be back in SoC after playing CS and CoP for so long. The UI and everything just isn't as smooth to use. Ideally I'd love to see some bigger mods get ported over on top of it. How complicated would that be, as far as ones that are just AI/weapons, etc, rather than adding new levels and such themselves?

So I was fighting some mercs in Darkscape, and my fucking gun jams twice. I managed to kill the main group camped in the station, but then the guys from the big cranes made their way up to confront me. I peek out of the corner and prepare to unload a full-auto clip of hell into one of the merc's faces. My gun jams for the third time in a row. I try to reload but he rounds the corner and shotties me in the face. Such is life in the Zone.
Why's the .44 so tiny?
Is crashing every quickload a common feature of Lost Alpha or did I misconfigure it somehow? It makes dying that much more unpleasant, but, still.
So I downloaded CoP and am about to plunge in once more, but I gotta ask - I remember it not having sunshafts very often, usually only in the early mornings and late evenings, during sunrise and sunset. However, during my brief time with LA I saw that the sunshafts were visible for the whole duration of the day, which is amazing. Is there anything I can do or download to get a similar effect in CoP?
Just installed LA. What can I expect? Good, crap, what?
