Kinda [sp]unfortunate, all it really needed was one of the ShoC tracks for the labs, more ambient noises to put you on edge, and more tough enemy encounters, and to have the cutscenes not take over the player camera, and it could've been great [/sp]
[sp]Also the way the test subjects got in the tubes was fuckin lmao how their arms flipped around and shit. Hell, a fucking ghostly "fade" for the voice acting would've made those dialogues better, because as it was it felt like it was happening right there and it's all like heeeey bloodsucker that appeared years ago is there now. The army ghost even dropped his fucking AK when it wasn't there before.[/sp]
[sp] I just got to the scene with the "Monoliths" oh god It's like I'm watching Power Rangers. [/sp]
[editline]30th April 2014[/editline]
Getting the Vintorez assigned to me just confirmed my previous suspicions about the ammo. I was given 10 boxes of 9x39 instead of just 10 rounds.
This problem seems to be affecting 5.45 only.

Any fix for this? Happens when fighting Mercs at the Army Warehouses.
Guys, were you able to hand over the [sp]X-18 documents to Colonel Petrenko?[/sp] I found all the necessary data and did the [sp]X-14 document for Sin[/sp], but I can't talk to the guy about the files now that I returned to the Bar.
Does anyone find Clear Skies better then either of the two SoC or CP? I didn't make it 20 mins into the game the last time I played and that was ages ago, I don't remember why I stopped playing it but do you guys think it's better then the other two STALKER games? I kinda want to give it another go now while I wait for some fixes for LA.

Did you talk to Barkeep first? [sp] Did that dumb scene with the hooded cartoon villan with yellow eyes play out? [/sp]

Clear Sky is a good game but in my opinion it doesn't feel like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because the A-Life simulation feels pretty damn outside of the Faction Wars which are both buggy and underwhelming. Once you complete a mission in an area and do the Faction Wars for a faction, it feels like there's nothing to do in the levels anymore. The artifact hunting is generally more challenging than SoC / CoP even if that means that sometimes anomalies will just make artifacts spawn into places where they'll fall through the ground and the audiovisual presentation is really nice, but the mutants have been swept to the sidelines and there's just camps constantly everywhere due to the emphasis on the Faction Wars.
The missions themselves are okay... but they have a lot of the times the NPCs you're with controlling the pace for you, so while Clear Sky's missions do feel very action-packed and have cool firefights, it does kind of strip away the player's agency to approach them as they want to. I'd say that Clear Sky's definitely worth the purchase, but it just has a lot of lost potential in many regards.

[sp]Nope and nope. If you want it chronologically, I infiltrated the Mono base, got apprehended by Sin, stole the Bandit files for Sin, entered and cleaned up X-18, ran to Sin Base, ran to Rostok Factory and into X-14, not completing the Duty quest inside the factory yard(because the thing crashed my game). I then collected the two files inside X-14 and gave them to Veles the Sin leader. He debriefed me, and after trailing back outside Sid told me to head over to Yantar. I walked back to 100 Rads and now Petrenko and Barkeep aren't telling me shit about the files.[/sp]

I actually like the added camps, but I feel as though they should've been made in better places. The A-Life system could've been used much better, (mods like TFW make the A-Life of just general stalkers better, and separating the Loners from other factions is a good move) but CoP honestly doesn't feel like it's advanced that much in terms of A-Life either.
Soooo is there a list for Lost Alpha side quests somehwere? i cant find anything to do and i keep getting only main quests ( right now i gotta go somehwere underground and get that guy book )
CoP honestly doesn't feel like it's advanced that much in terms of A-Life either.
NPCs having a day / night cycle and moving around from camp to camp is in my personal opinion much more advanced than a simple "sit at a predefined gulag all year and never move anywhere". So while CoP had some problems with the camps and the missing hostile A-Life, you could actually follow a stalker around his raids and they would go around the Zone, occasionally hunting for artifacts or just chilling around playing a guitar and then come nightfall, return back to the Skadovsk / Yanov / Laundromat. Not that Clear Sky NPCs don't move around with the Faction War, they just feel more like cannon fodder than actual stalkers most of the time.
I actually like the added camps, but I feel as though they should've been made in better places.
The camps are alright in a way, but the way they almost never move outside of Garbage, which is the main Faction Wars hotspot after you do the main mission in each area, so what happens is that after you do the Swamps, for example, it's just 90% green because it's filled with friendly squads and only in two places are there respawning hostiles. The hostiles will be always there, but never anywhere else and they'll just more or less hang out there unless you specifically want to go and kill them. So that makes freeplaying in the Swamps / Cordon / Dark Valley / Agroprom / Yantar /Red Forest pointless, since after you've done the main mission there's nothing there to challenge you, not even mutants because there's so few of them so it makes the levels just a pointless slough to get through if you want to freeplay. And ditto for Garbage after you've done the Faction War, because there's no real action in there either after you've pushed the enemy to their base, they can't really fight their way out of there anymore so that's that. First time through when you're not thinking of Freeplay, you're just pressing onwards, Clear Sky is a really fun FPS game, but after that, the Freeplay aspect starts to feel kind of lacking.

[sp] By not heading back to Barkeep earlier you might've caused certain parts of the quest to not trigger, in which case you're incapable of progressing now. Also, how did you head to Rostok and clear out X-14 without going back and getting the key? [/sp]

Let's just say I'm really, REALLY, REALLY good at Parkour. :v:
I'll see if I can revert to an earlier save, then. [sp]After I finish X-18 I first have to go to the Bar and THEN to Rostok, right?[/sp]

[sp] Yes, you were actually suppose to help Duty at Rostok clear out the bloodsuckers, and then they send you all the way back to get a key to open the lab. [/sp]

[sp]I had to skip that one due to a crash I'd get inside the gas-filled HQ. The third PDA was missing anyways so there's that.[/sp]

Guess I have to wait for a fix, then?
Guess I have to wait for a fix, then?
It might be related to graphical settings, I didn't have an issue going through the area.
There's a fix for the repair system among other things.
Repair/upgrade system fix:

Others:

Also if you're on 32 bit, you need to remove msvcp120, msvcp120b and msvcr120.dll from the "bins" folder.

Mind telling me what to do with those last two links?
I am really glad you guys spoiler tag all the parts of the Lost Alpha plot. I really hope you keep it up, since me (and others) wish to play LA when it's all fixed up and suitable.
I realize that this issue has been posted before in this thread, but I am still not really sure how to fix it:

How exactly am I supposed to install the DirectX in order to correct the issue?

Remove all thumbs.db files from LA gamedata.
Holy shit i just made it through the forest with almost no gas by starting the car and driving up hills, then turning it off and riding down the hills to save gas.
Made it to the bar with literally a sliver of gas left.

there are no thumbs.db in my gamedata.

Then it's another reason. Try this from gsc bugs forum:

I already examined those forums, they do not provide a comprehensive solution to the issue from what I have seen thus far. One of the posts instructs to drag the DirectX files to the root directory, but I have no idea what it actually means by that in a detailed sense, what directX files and from where?
Also, could any of this be because of this? Is this common?
ok wtf why can't i give petrenko or whatever the documents, the marker is on him but i have no option to give them.
could someone link to the LA mod that adds lurk weapons?
Is it me, or do shotguns in LA demand a bit of a buff? They feel fairly weaker, aside from maybe the TOZ-34 and the BM-16.
