Turns out I needed the green USB key from Barkeep or Sidorovich, done the quest now
So is there any place where hotfixes for LA are all in one place?
It's hard to find stuff through google.

Also lost alpha is great and all but damn I'd love Redux 2.
All these stack trace errors in LA are really upsetting... also, are the mercs in the construction yard supposed to shoot on sight? They sent a message claiming that I should speak to one of their sentries, but I just get shot dead if I approach.
How much does the cheapest car cost? If it has a "trunk" of any sort I imagine it'll pay back in no time.
I wonder if the monolith respawns at that lab where you have to wear the bandit suit and all that.
a lot of the assets used in stalker look dated today, but they don't look super dated.
this render is from early to mid 2002. to be honest, if i saw this back then i would have been amazed by the model and texture quality
As I said, it's bugged. I already went back inside and tried to leave through the spiral, still doesn't count. Just tell me where the documents are cause I can't find em
The main building in the military base, up on the highest floor on a desk.
Tried it when I went to complete the X-18 task for Sin. They shot and killed me instantly after wasting 20 minutes crawling through the mines to get there.
Sorry, but no monies. I know it was your mod, because I uninstalled it and the game worked just fine.
Combat ignore was buggy with Alundaio's LA ai tweaks first version, but it has been fixed in the latest release, download again from the posted link. I tested these files with the rescue Fox mission, and it worked fine, they didn't shoot at Fox or at me.
So, Finally got into Bar after looking around, got the next part of the main quest an a quest to kill bandits near Agroprom (or something like that). I hoofed trough garbage whit a big dog pack in my tail and finally got to the objective marker, just to see two bloodsuckers do it for me.
Now take note, I have yet to see one Bloodsucker up to this point in time, so I freaked the fk out and ran away like a coward into the building nearby, and waited them to come. And when they did, It only took like 5 bullets each to kill them.
All that hype for nothing ;_;

Five bullets each?
Are you on easy or something? It takes me like a whole mag of 5.56 for one...
doesn't lower difficulty mean lower damage in stalker? both for you and the enemies
doesn't lower difficulty mean lower damage in stalker? both for you and the enemies
I thought they were harder to kill and you were easier to kill
At least that's how it feels to me
well mods might change that, but as far as I remember it increases damage (or lowers health) for both sides

I guess some people who've fucked around in the configs extensively could weigh in on the issue and say if there's any evidence of this being the case. [del] I've found nothing from the weapons configs so far to support this theory, but maybe I'm just looking from the wrong place [/del].

Actually, looking at w_desert_eagle.ltx I've noticed a curious line :
hit_power = 0.50, 0.54, 0.57, 0.60
hit_power in this case is damage, but whether the line is about the hit_power being different for the four different difficulty settings (Novice, Stalker, Veteran, Master) or simply variations for the game to randomly select when you hit an NPC and it produces a "dice roll" to determine how much damage you'll actually do. Still, I'd like to hear opinions from a modder who's familiar with Vanilla's configs before jumping into conclusions.
yeah, it's for difficulty levels afaik
the vehicle prices in LA are kinda outrageous - even the most basic ones cost more than an exoskeleton. i'm probably gonna manually edit the .ltx files for the vehicle values so that the price is reduced by one digit. 30,000 rubles for a KAMAZ doesn't seem that bad instead of 300,000.

What the fuck it ain't there, don't tell it spawns only if I complete the leaving the underground mission. I even fucking re-did the whole thing from entering the map, and the mission still won't complete even if I do it right.
Anyone else had this problem?
Damn, this all managed to down my hopes for LA by a lot. I've been skimming through some replies here and there ... is it really this bad? :tinfoil:

Did you talk to Ratcatcher yet?

a humongous official patch is expected to come out today.

...No, where is he?

It seems to be about as buggy as any large STALKER release, this being the largest of them all. I'm waiting to see if 7+ years of working on the mod has killed their enthusiasm for fixing it now that it's available to the community.
is it really this bad? :tinfoil:
The biggest toss-up in Lost Alpha currently besides the crash bugs is the A-Life. It's completely static, in that there's almost no traveling NPCs or hostiles, the few smart_terrains that have anything in them spawn things on the spot and some do it clunkily like if you clear out the Car Park bandits, they'll respawn right on top of the loners who come there even if you're present. Some people have apparently found that there are typos in the all.spawn that have disabled some smart_terrains and have made them functionally obsolete. The mutants in the maps seem to be almost always in the same spots.
The positive part is that the community is out there producing all kinds of fixes and add-ons for LA and maybe in the due months, there's something that can be cooked up to make LA really good but we'll see.

People have been hyped about LA for ages. With hopes so high inevitably there will be some disappointments.
...No, where is he?
Barkeep should have told you to go and talk to Ratcatcher. He's the military deserter hiding inside the half-sunken swamp wagon in Agroprom.
[sp] Gordon Streiman... [/sp]

I love it. I haven't had huge problems, and there are some bugs, especially with the PDA, but overall it's very good in my opinion.
the use of originally-removed sound material is amazing. the soundscapes on the maps in LA can be so immersive, and it feels like that each area feels fresh and different. i haven't felt such wonderfully-done sound design in a mod or standalone free title since black mesa.
