This is what scares me the most, too. What if they indeed start losing interest and want to move on with their lives? Sure these are 'what if' scenarios, but they're very plausible. The current events must've struck the team pretty hard.
I can only sympathize with them if they do end up abandoning the thing. I'd be a shame, but I could see the reasoning behind it. And, there's still a huge active community who'd probably be willing to fix it.
Another thing comes to mind ... imagine your average kitchen-sink russian / slav / ukr mod on LA with all kinds of random stuff thrown in :v:

You'd be surprised how many moms end up abandoning their baby because of stress. I don't think it will happen, though, but still.

I'm on Stalker difficulty and they were probably wounded from fighting the bandits.

I loved it as well, completed it with a good ending more than a day ago, lots of things need tweaking, but it has a lot of potential, especially in future modding.

And indeed, I think, as a base, it will be THE new spark that will light up a fast array of STALKER mods. Not only in technical, but graphical sense it improved, offering a more stable platform for modding than CoP.
Can't wait to see what the community has to show more

Seems to me like they've made a typo. It's probably supposed to be [B]dream_rats.ogg[/B] instead of [I]dream rats.ogg[/I], meaning the one without the underscore doesn't exist and thus the game CTDs
You can (for now) rename the file into 'dream rats' or if the patch fixes it, install that when it's up

I'm stuck at the "leave the underground" part, I get out the spiral staircase but for some reason the mission just doesn't complete.

Did you get out via the really big spiral staircase with the chimney, or did you get out via the one you entered?

Navigate your way to the northwest corner of the map and then go from there. (The actual bar entrance is to the left of the blocked-off old entrance through a building)
I made the mistake of trying to get to the bar while suffering vodka aftereffects with only one flashlight battery left in the middle of the night, but I eventually managed to stumble in after about 20 minutes of hopeless wandering.
hey guys, in some way, it's better for them to have released LA earlier. You know, having a crapton of players playing it uncovers more bugs than any beta testing team.
So it's better to have knowledge of all those bugs and know and fix them than working on the game with that closed beta testing team for more time and finding out it's really a FUBAR thing.
I bet they won't give up.

I know everyone is talking about Lost Alpha currently, but does anyone have an opinion on Zone of Alienation for SoC? I briefly tried it. So far the lack of a hud and what seems (to me at least) the lack of being able to fire your weapon as fast as you want. Like if I left click three times, there will be only one firing animation.

Not knowing how many bullets your current mag has is a no go for me.
Plus damage values are horrible. A burst from a mp5 vanquishes any bandit but you have to unload X>10 7.62x39mm bullets to kill them. Nonsense.
Plus, with all the magazines they have on their bodies...no point in having the reload mechanic.
You can easily become rich as a full AKM mag is worth 1500-1900 and they aren't that heavy.
I have to reckon that the AI is quite different from any other mod I tried. They REALLY try to flank you, they RUN to flank you, they do the gay corner-crouched camping and a lot of stuff that took me by surprise.
I would recommend you try out Lost Word Origins or OLR.
And if you don't want THAT quantity of new stuff, OGSE.
Those are the most un-russian russian mods.
Didn't they say to think of this release as "early access" for LA or something?
