The patch is savegame compatible, so You do not have to start new game for this patch, but for maximum experience (nad because of Murphy's law) it's highly recommended. If you installed 3rd party / user made fixes and mods for Lost Alpha retail, it's highly recommended to reinstall the game to have a clean install before you apply the official patch. This is required to avoid conflicts with the 3rd party content. We can not give support for such cases. Also if you are trying to load gamesave which you made while you used mods or fixes for the retail Lost Alpha, they won't work with the newly patched game. You will need to start new game in such case, because all previous modded content was saved to your savegame, which is now unavailable in game since new patch has new content.
- game binaries are working with administrator privileges now, avoiding problems with User Access Control (UAC) subsystem
- game will work on windows xp, although dx10 cannot be used
- quicksave / quickload buttons now can be remapped
- fixed serious bug with wrong ui_movies.xml which prevented to play half of the game

Not too bad, the patch covered more stuff than I thought it would. Maybe once they get all this stuff sorted out they'll start looking into balancing things and tweaking the A-Life.

Anyone else having trouble getting the Steam overlay to work after the patch? Tried running it as a Admin, removing and re-adding it to Steam, running it in Admin compatability mode but nothing seems to work.
PDA chat worked fine before the patch now it crashes 50% of the time on clickl shirt

is it just me or did they remove the legs option in the patch? can't disable them anymore so i have no walking sounds
Anyone know how to turn down the R1 indoor lighting a bit? For some reason with the patch the bar wasn't illuminated so I turned on the lamps by using r2_allow_r1_lights but they're a bit too harsh and bright.

Super sad that I can't get past the Dark Valley caves. As soon as I round the corner I hear the sound of objective completed and get that error.
I've uninstalled, restinalled, and tried patch applied and without. I've switched the renderer from r1 to r3 just to see. I've tried with my gun out and without a gun out, as well as pistol and no weapons at all. I've tried switching outfits as well. Loading a much earlier save and going all the way back also didn't seem to fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas?

For those with this issue: I fixed it by transitioning into Dark Valley after installing the patch. [sp]Once you escape the military helicopter by going in the cave, you should hear the helicopter leave. If this doesn't happen the crash will occur again I think.[/sp]

You installed the LURK model replacement pack for LA and then patched over it.
You're gonna need to reinstall LA and the patch unless you have the overwritten files backed up.

Nope, I attempted to fuel the first car you're given for free and it doesn't let you fuel it with just a barrel in the inventory.
There also is no option to split up the barrel into multiple smaller cannisters.

It actually uses just a minor amount of models. He can fix it by ruling out the meshes and texture folders, I think.
The LAMP model team also released a better texture+model pack so there's that.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. For some reason the page says v1.3001 (May 2) instead of v1.30013 (May 3), but the file says v1.30013 so I think this should be okay.

if you don't want to drop 80k on a new suit you can go to the room with 3 or 4 duty members in it just before you enter the bar entrance.
there will be 1 duty guarding a locked door that has a bunch of stuff in it like a weapon,a gas mask, and a duty suit.
if you get close enough to the door you'll be able to just pick up the items from there.
to make it easier you could just kill him and i don't think they'll fire at you for it

Downloading SoC now. I have all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R games and I haven't beat either of them. What is wrong with me. ;-;
I almost finished CS but lost interest. I don't care to beat CoP because Misery is fucking hard and on-top of that the game stutters 24/7 due to shitty optimization and SoC actually looks promising. I'm going in with low expectations.
