S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

Ok so i fixed the crash but in agroprom underground i cant get to streloks stash and it teleports me to the stairs and says look elsewhere, what the hell is this bullshit?
What I wanna know is where the fuck all the fuel is. I find plenty of drums, but they can't be used, and I find none of the small cans
So, I'm planning to do my first Let's Play and I chose to replay Stalker SoC but with mods. Should I pick LA, if not what else should I get?
And does LA work well on Steam?
Anyone know the location of [sp]Wolf's stash? I found his key for it.[/sp]
Fair warning, but I thought I'd let all you Lost Alpha lads know something. Sorry if it's late.
So, I managed to find my way into the forest. Don't ask, because I don't remember how. It's an extremely barren place filled with a windy road and a few super-pockets of radiation. There is a cool little scripted village with a piano that I don't want to spoil, but there's another area of interest I need to talk about first. Mainly, this:

It's a Monolith-esq Monolith™ that shits lightening out and lights up the area. Surrounding it are a ton of electro anomalies, but (supposedly) it can serve as a blowout shelter. That's not what made me go there, it was a rather innocent stash saying "This place kept me safe, so I left my stuff here" - or something to that tune.

Either way, braved getting my nads electrified and grabbed the stuff. In it was some 9x18 ammo, a Viper that shoots 9x18, and a map. The map, taking up two inventory slots and being undroppable and with no weight, gives you another stash up in the Countryside. Something like "Only the most pertinent will fine me." Well shit, I love me treasure hunts. I mentally tucked away the fact I should look for it whenever I hit up Countryside and left it at that. What I found was horrifying.

It's a huge clusterfuck of a jumping puzzle (JUMPING PUZZLE) with an pit filled with inescapable anomalies and fire shitting out of random orifices. Any sane stalker would have given up. Any smart one would have modified the actor.ltx and increased the jump height. I decided to brave this because I was playing the game to kill time anyways. A good bout of suffering later, I made it to that accursed outhouse.

And guess what's in it?
1 x Duty SEVA-Suit Knock Off. 1 x Sleeping Bag. 1 x Eye of Sauron Artifact. 1 x Vintar BC.
If you have a couple brain cells, by the time you reach this point you'll already have a SKAT-9M or SEVA suit. You're given a Vintar BC as a part of the main story line before this point. The Sleeping Bag will stack with yours and is undroppable, adding another 0.50kg of weight that you can never remove (thanks Hunter's Shotgun, at 3.00kg - good warning here to turn in that quest ASAP.)
So yeah, thought I'd warn you guys before you attempt this, unless someone else has. :v:
So what mods should I be using in SoC, CoP and CS? Which games should need a mod from the start and which ones should just be vanilla? Thanks all.
EDIT: also, why does everyone say you should not use Complete? Is it a bad mod in general?
Anyone?
Anyone?
I'm no STALKER Aficionado, but I generally think it's a good idea to play through all of them with nothing but patches (community or not), and vanilla otherwise. It helps give you a much better baseline to work with as to if a mod improves it (for you) or not. None of them "need a mod from the start" as far as I'm concerned.
Some modify the difficulty far too much for a first run. Some turn the levels and story into an absolute abominable clusterfuck. And some are just hard to understand without having played the base game. Here's a pastebin of a few reviews taken from /vg/ if you want: http://pastebin.com/u/TheREVIEWER
Nah, Trojanuch and I used to be a modding duo, we co-created that mod and did some other great stuff. But he has moved on doing great things like SEED with MDT. I have moved on and teamed up with Bangalore to create a freeplay mod/mappack for Call of Pripyat called Call of Chernobyl.
It doesn't focus on quests/story but it focuses on gameplay, AI and engine optimization. I think people who just want to explore SoC/CS maps and watch the world around them react will be pleasantly surprised. It will also be a base for other mods and we have plans to release raw map data for modders who don't want to use our script-side engine or A-life.
Yeah, I saw Call of Chernobyl. It looks really great. I wonder, if possible, if you include some Lost Alpha maps as well. Dead City is my favorite to explore, and like I said it could really do with some NPC firefights.
Shame to hear that you won't be making an MSO mod for LA though.
Anyone?
I'd say try Redux for CoP, it's very challenging, removes equipment modification but you don't need it. Ammo is quite scarce. Has some nice firing sound effects. If not, go vanilla.
So now I get why everyone says Soup's cave sucks.
So, the password for X18's entrance doesn't work in LA 1.30013? Any workarounds?
If you are where I'm at - read the description on the code carefully. There seems to be two x18 entrances. One in [sp]the monolith base[/sp] and the other [sp]under the sin base[/sp]
I'll confirm for sure because I also tried the first, without luck. So I'll let you know if the second works.
EDIT: also, why does everyone say you should not use Complete? Is it a bad mod in general?
Complete, particularly for SoC, pretty much ruins the spirit of the game. The AI is nerfed pretty drastically when it comes to spotting you, making the game a cakewalk. The carry limit is increased to the point there may as well be no carry limit and if I remember rightly there's some pretty iffy damage values.
Now Petrenko is refusing to give me dialogue after getting back to the bar [sp]after shooting down the two helicopters raping my ass.[/sp]
The Cave was sorta what was missing for me in STALKER originally. Not sure if I played it right, but I was gunning through that shit like a motherfucker and still found my way to Doctor somehow.
Now Petrenko is refusing to give me dialogue after getting back to the bar [sp]after shooting down the two helicopters raping my ass.[/sp]
[sp] Wait did you shoot them down before talking to him? He's suppose to give you a quest to kill them [/sp]
I can't really choose now between AMK:SE or OL 2.2, which one of them it's any better?(I know OL 2.2 has some stuff from AMK)in terms of content?
[sp] Wait did you shoot them down before talking to him? He's suppose to give you a quest to kill them [/sp]
Oh dear.
Oh dear oh dear.
[sp]I was looting the bodies and found the Dutyer with the RPGs and took them on myself.[/sp]
I also walked out of the level and went back in to see if that would fix it.
So I don't think I can play now.
FUCK.
I really, really wish the story writing in LA was better :/ Its just so mediocre now.

I was wrong, try code: [sp]5271, I got them after turning in the docs to veles, the sin leader[/sp]
Can someone link me to some crucial fixes for LA before i start my journey?
What the fuck, I just got to yantar in LA and while on a roof I spotted bandits and threw a grenade at them, the bandit picked it up and threw it back and killed me
Shit, Misery really is as Artificial Difficulty as people say.
Shit, Misery really is as Artificial Difficulty as people say.
it adds a lot of cool things and does a lot of cool things but buries it under a boring difficulty wall.
also it bugs the fuck out a lot and sometimes enemies have pinpoint accuracy from hundreds of feet away with no ability to be snuck up on
What the fuck, I just got to yantar in LA and while on a roof I spotted bandits and threw a grenade at them, the bandit picked it up and threw it back and killed me
Enemy grenades in LA are hilarious. One second they're literally tossed right down into my boot and I have to propel myself via fear-shitting to get away from the blast radius.
The next second they're saying something angry and bouncing their own grenade off a fence post and killing themselves. I've had more than one nest of baddies taken out by their own desire to throw five grenades indoors without managing to get them out the window. :v:
[t]http://puu.sh/8z7gj.jpg[/t] Stayed on my hood the whole level, best ornament ever.
Shit, Misery really is as Artificial Difficulty as people say.
Are we talking about 1.2 or 2.1 ? There's a fanpatch for the latter, called "Les Miserables" that's supposed to make it "better balanced", whatever that means for people.
So where the fuck is the Yantar 'wire' I need to find, the mapspot for it disappeared for some reason
So where the fuck is the Yantar 'wire' I need to find, the mapspot for it disappeared for some reason
There's a hole in the ground near the scientist's bunker, South-West or so - near the other building. There's even a lone stalker sitting by it.
Down it, there's a huge maze and clusterfuck of tunnels. At the end of one is some shelves with a lone wire spool on it. The door in that room leads to another room full of angry, sleeping bloodsuckers. (And that loner's rifle, from his quest.) You get back out (or I did at least) via the same hole, by the way.
So where the fuck is the Yantar 'wire' I need to find, the mapspot for it disappeared for some reason
Did you see the crying stalker that lost his Groza? Follow the tunnels to his rifle. It's in the room with two blast doors and lots of shelves, underneath the army hideout.
...
So I went down there 3 times (first because I was ill-prepared and ran out of water, second because I ran out of ammo, and third to actually finish the loner's rifle quest) and the wire was down there the entire time?
Fuckity fuck fuckfuck
