Someone posted they made it all the way to Pripyat just fine with it on top of 1.30013. Only person who ever claimed any of the community fixes broke the patch was TS, who has 0% experience modding. The official patch fixed some of the stuff in Chriotmao community fixes but that doesn't hurt anything. If you are afraid of breaking saves, it's inevitable if you are waiting for official patches.They eventually need to recompile the all.spawn with xrAI and that will require a new game. They seem to be putting it off, they should have just got it out of the way. Really, if you want to just play all the way through, keep playing until you can't anymore then install a community patch or wait for official patch and hope they fix it. There is risk no matter how you look at it.

God dammit, I'm stuck at the bar when I have to speak to Petrenko after Yantar, and I can't because the dialog wont work. Then the fix from Kaktus_CZ doesn't work when I download it, and when I copy-paste it from the site to the text document and save it, I get a lua error when I talk to Petrenko again instead of the normal conversation options.

I figured it out my game had glitched after I loaded my autosave:[sp]Doc was dead in the cell the first time around, so the entire cutscene sequence failed to play out properly. I was able to reach the door lock and get out of the cell that way, so I thought Doc was supposed to be dead and I took his stash key and made off without the package[/sp]

I've gotten many requests and PMs on Moddb about making PRZ2 compatible with LA :v: It's a time-heavy job ... but I doubt I can make it any more pretty, texture wise. Or am I wrong here? (I haven't tried it yet)

I just went through X-18 in Lost Alpha yesterday, and I've gotta say that it perfectly encapsulates what is both great and [I]so wrong[/I] about LA. First off, the atmosphere in general is amazing and it feels like a proper maze [sp]also it had really much CoP's X-8 vibes which is good because it's my favourite lab of the series design-wise[/sp] but then [sp]the scripted cutscenes feel like they're from a whole another game or a mod for another game[/sp] and they break the atmosphere pretty bad. I have nothing against [sp]silliness or slightly goofy voice-acting in alright moderate doses but they should've separated that to places that aren't supposed to be the most atmospheric/scary places of the entire game[/sp]. Oh yeah, and I made the mistake of [sp]going in without enough ammo, ended up having to run away from most enemies inside the lab and go to the surface unarmed , which made for a really tense escape, especially given how easy it is to get lost in the place so that was pretty exciting[/sp].

That's my huge problem with it as well. There's this thing Dezowave couldn't grasp that even crazy Russian wizards mostly understood: what can't be adequately presented with an X-ray engine, shouldn't be tinkered with at all. Take the [sp]bloodsuckers[/sp] episode in X-18. It's garbage. Not even because of voice acting. Animations, transitions, camera work, everything about it just screams "bad". And that's not even LA team's fault, it's the engine itself. It does a horrible job at all of these.
It is precisely the reason GSC didn't show much of the lore, prefering to either leave it a mystery or explain in text: they knew that making cutscenes not suck would require major rework of the engine.
And then they should've understood that Stalker is a very old universe already. What GSC left out has already been filled up with literature, various fan-made movies, other mods (in the form of texts) and generally people's imagination. And what fanbase created in their minds - can never be shown through the means of X-Ray shoddy coding, no amount of scripting or tinkering with the engine would ever fix that. And when you see how [sp]bloodsuckers[/sp] were created, apparently, in some fucking basement with plain concrete walls using an old rusty junk of a tech by two guys in very dirty labcoats, with zero facial animation, shit voice acting (yeah, it's head and a half above what other mods have, but it's still very bad), godawful camera panning, atrocious animation... it just knocks out the atmosphere on the spot, taking the whole thing down for a while until the image stops burning in your brain.

[sp]Search all the merc bodies, one should give you a stash in the theatre in the mercs' base, it has a grenade launcher and silencer. There are also quite a few others with silenced/UGL SG550s.
All in all there's about 180k RU worth of weapons on all the dead mercs, not counting the sidearms or ammo. I went around collecting ALL of them and stashed them up in one of the apartment buildings, just need a car so I can make it quicker[/sp]

It falls off almost as soon as you start the engine, yeah. How could they overlook it. If they had to attach it to something active, why not right door instead?
It would have been a good thing had they left some of the things unanswered. I'd like to think that the second half of the sequence in X-16 was good purely because it [sp]displayed the Group's intentions in X-16 and what the psi-barrier did to the science crew that got trapped inside the complex.[/sp]
Seeing the [sp]"Illuminati" C-Con chamber with the Sin Wizard stalker being teleported away could have been done much better or even hinted at through a subtle approach, maybe a leftover of some secret lab photographs or a distorted recording rather than a choppy sequence of pictures talking to Darth Stalker.[/sp]
The genesis of the mutants on the other hand should have been left purely up for debate or only hinted at because the way it was shown was just flatout bullshit. It completely ruined all the magic and mystery surrounding such a thing and even though most people probably assumed that it was going to be like that the way it was handled in the game was just baffling regarding it's complete lack of quality.
That's not to say that all cutscenes and dialogues are bad, though. I liked the one in Dead City. The ones where [sp]the scientist teases the rat, when the SSP-wearing egghead gets torn apart by the teleporter, and when the two workers talk about the conditions in X-18[/sp] are also really good. Mini-cutscenes often worked better than the longer ones, as evident by those that established situations(Rostok) and characters([sp]Doc in Swamp, Contact in Warehouses[/sp]). The problem with the cutscenes was that none of the devs looked back at the longer ones, saw the ridiculous abuse of a constantly panning camera, horrendous lack of facial animations and misuse of particles, the flat-out primitive application of the static props in places like X-18, and all the other things while thinking "Holy shit guys, these [I]fucking SUCK[/I]."
They spent time and effort overdoing some of the worst cutscene works in the entire tetralogy of STALKER and that time could have gone to something better. Some of the things present in the cutscenes are delivered fairly well, but some of the concepts shouldn't have even been lifted from the drawing board.

Thats because you HAVE to start from save that was made before you entered Rostok
For as much as I'm enjoying LA, it's more for the new levels and quests, and less for the fucking abomination of a story and all these terrible cutscenes.
I want a vivid A-Life, freeroam, no barricaded anything version of their main map, and nothing else. Well, maybe more weapons, but that's about it. It's just nice to have a change in scenery rather than playing the same god damn Cordon dressed up twenty different ways.
