So Chernobyl's a really cool area, incidentally when I first came here my STALKER ambience playlist began to play the soundtrack from Tarkovsky's Stalker. I find it easy to overcome the silliness of LA with the fact that all these huge and beautiful areas exist, still new and unexplored to most of us!
Problem is there is nothing inside those locations. No enemies, no loot, they are just empty.
That's what Dez said, take from it what you will. By the way mate, Tejas is getting pissed off with you on GSC apparently - it seems like Don Reba is going to ban you if you keep doing whatever you're doing?
Doing what? If anything, Don Reba actually agreed with me. I said it was silly to advise modders not to fix L.A. and to consider everyone a tester. These bugs are at least 9 months old, go play the leaks if you don't believe me. The patch was only made possible by implementing fixes by community.
If I recall correctly, Beacon is trying to do that with CoP: Redux V2.0. Waiting patiently for that!
That does look good.
SOC 1.0008 community build Looks ... VERY interesting. [t]http://i.imgur.com/t9roc95.png[/t] sauce: http://www.gsc-game.com/main.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_page=1&thm_id=22700&sec_id=16
so over the course of 4 fucking days i downloaded the individual parts off moddb and i'm STILL getting the fucking fsgame.ltx error where does this shit come from
Doing what? If anything, Don Reba actually agreed with me. I said it was silly to advise modders not to fix L.A. and to consider everyone a tester.
So is Frozen Zone gonna be the new LA now? The mod that appears to be of really high quality that a lot of people will be waiting for and it'll most likely take years to complete and be released?
Pretty much this. Johann is aiming for the next year and currently promised a long gameplay footage at this summer. But we still have two more masterpieces to come - Phantom Zones and Gunslinger. Not sure about SZM 0.3, last time I checked it was "on hold".
These guys make me both angry and make me laugh very hard with some of the replies they give. Just look at what TS says They wouldn't have been able to patch it without community. The bugs that were fixed were even in the 9 month old leaked build. He considers everyone a tester. Also, if nobody was testing the build between HUGE updates then the project was poorly managed and it's no wonder it took this long. Why the hell would they authorize a build with untested community patch, anyway? We all joked on French forum that the first time the build was put together was in person at stalker event. I think it may actually be true, lol.
The more I play LA and the more responses I read from the devs, the less I like the game. Like seriously? "our mod is empty but SOME PEOPLE LIKE THAT OK" the only mod I'm hyped for at this point is Call of Chernobyl
So, I guess Stalker Complete it is then....or is there a better mod for SoC?
So I fixed the fucking fsgame.ltx problem by extracting with WinRAR instead of 7zip but there's no end to this bullshit. It spends ~40 minutes stuck on 'installing main game files'. I assumed it had crashed so I force closed it in Task Manager. But then the installation continued and completed, so I ran the game and got this, any help? This better be worth the colossal pain in the fucking ass it's been.
So, I guess Stalker Complete it is then....or is there a better mod for SoC?
Complete is a more casual experience, makes some stuff easier. AI is pretty ganky from what I've heard. I don't mind it at all but everyone here despises it.
No reason for hype. It's a simple map-pack of 26 levels, new AI features, no story or quests, basic necessities like traders/mechanics, universal dialog, unrestricted A-life and script-side engine optimization. Plus OWR 2, exclusive Variation mod and some other stuff. We will give exactly as we promise. Sadly Borovos's original maps won't make first release. He has an awesome vehicle graveyard map.
I'd guess that force closing the install could've fucked with it but there's about a million issues that can happen with LA's install that I'm not sure.
Is it normal for it to take +40 minutes? How long did it take everyone else?
Is it normal for it to take +40 minutes? How long did it take everyone else?
"Installing main game files" takes forever, not sure if it took me 40 minutes but it was a good chunk of time.
So, I guess Stalker Complete it is then....or is there a better mod for SoC?
COMPLETE CASUL SHIT PIECE BETTTR AMK OR NARODNAYA SOLYANKA..
I mentionned Complete since it was the only one off the top of my head. What would be a good mod? Soup?
I mentionned Complete since it was the only one off the top of my head. What would be a good mod? Soup?
Soup is the bomb
Soup is too easy
I mentionned Complete since it was the only one off the top of my head. What would be a good mod? Soup?
Depends on what you want. If your first thought was Coplete, Soup is probably not at all what you want :v:
Hurg so let's say I know nothing about any of the mods, what mod gives what exactly? You say Soup and Complete are too easy/hard, and LA is basically crap what then? Meh guess I'll just use Soup After all I played Stalker without mods for so long, I actually need a challenge now
Soup is too easy
What in the shit are you playing to be finding Soup too easy? Make it through the entire game with only the knife while being poisoned by radiation in under 2 minutes mod?
Since everyone is ranting about the team and their choices... I felt a bit hurt after this, he took time to reply to someone to tell them that it was just their opinion, which is an obvious thing, but couldn't take a few seconds more to reply to my question...
I beat Lost Alpha. The good ending. Not sure how to feel. Every time I was getting drawn in, the cutscenes ripped me out. Leave that shit to mystery, yo - stop fucking trying to explain EVERY LITTLE GOD DAMN EVENT WITH SHODDY ANIMATIONS. Fuck. I must have spent about a straight 30-60 minutes watching cutscenes.
The cinematics are such an immersion breaker
help dooms mod merge keeps crashing. Start the game up, and have fun!
Minor spoilers: [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/3281181514407984272/35F3A4C69F89263305D752CD046B55B7F46F86FB/[/t] The hell is the Day 3 about? :v:
Oh my god. I'm... I don't know what to say anymore. I'm. Done. Total. Fucking. Disaster.

I think he meant people shouldn't mod it up too much yet, because it's almost certain it will conflict with the next few patches, which will naturally lead to people bitching about the patches breaking things they weren't intended to go over in the first place. He needs to reword it though, because discouraging fixes and mods isn't going to help LA in the long run. The more the community can fix, the better, then they can focus on the big bugs and problems that take more time to fix. Of course, I could be too optimistic and he could be the way you say. Also does anyone have that weapons fix for TFW? I've got the 3.8 beta + patch, but I don't think it fixes the ballistics, so I'm expecting to still fight bullet sponge enemies everywhere. I think ZipFile was the one who made it, before.

(you mean if you have 200 ammo, you sell it all at once?, on this I wish you could choose with a slider how much to sell/move/pick of a thing) >proper gore/dismemberment system according to bullet ballistics, mutant attacks, shot location, anomaly damage etc >moving things of which we have a lot is a pain, like Ammo, cant there be a sub-menu with a slider or a number so you pick up or move X of a thing? It would save a lot of clicks. >Fix the AI reset when loading a savegame? >I have no idea if it would be feasibly possible, but incorporate CoP's blowout behaviour into the game >theres some stuff in the code to do with blowouts, guess it didn't make SoC release >Either remove the AA slider, or add the SMAA injector or heck I dont know, but that thing is silly not working. >possible to do an inventory system like CoP's where headgear is separated from armor? >Add sunshafts into the game, hell yeah >Add an A-Life activation slider? like 100m, 200m and so on, probably not feasible? >al_switch_distance seems to control the distance, would probably be simple to add this to the settings menu with no code patches needed >make it possible for NPCs to throw handgrenades, but make it so they don't spam them or toss them with pinpoint accuracy like in CS >not codebro, but xr_grenade basically does this >Multicore and hyperthreading support, this one is probably impossible. >if you can, fix the weird "shadow lines" bug that happens when looking in a certain angle, this is still in LA and I have never seen it in either CS or CoP >i've sorta fixed this, r2_sun_near_border 1.3 seems to get rid of it all, normally it only allows values up to 1.0 though so I had to modify it in 1.0008 >add "both barrels" shot to fire modes, to allow discharging both barrels at the same time >aiming while discharging both barrels would be nice >someone was talking about coop in the steam chat but I have no freaking clue if it's possible at all >well single player games are hosted with a server just like MP games, might be a way to let it broadcast non-locally and allow people to join, probably won't work right without major script changes though >hotkey for take all from corpses >decouple enemy and player health from dificuty slider, split into player/AI health, AI reactivity/twitch speed, AI tactics >low crouch toggle? >autosave system during moments of calm? -- actually making a similar save system to CoP might be a good idea, hardsaving before or after important quests/events >Possibly fix the unlimited FPS in the menu? That would be cool. (not codebro but check first line ;) ) :^) >muh gunbobbing HARD/IMPOSSIBLE/WONTFIX CHANGES: >3 fire modes plus a sound for when togling it and the chance for people to add a fire mode switch animation >The ability to change the fire rate on weapons based on their fire mode, i.e. the AN-94's 2-shot burst >exploding ammo boxes tossed on ground to set up traps >workshops in bases where the player can disassemble/assemble and clean his gun and even upgrade it >a mag system that's robust and easy/quick to use to load and unload magazines >would it be feasible to make (like in Deus Ex) limb based damage? You can already lose your weapon if shot in your hands, maybe by changing the ph_box# values once hit and the speed, you can simulate being knee capped? But can the same be applied to other Stalkers? >thirst system with a bar in inventory, like in LA >sleeping bar >reduce artifact spawns, put good artifacts in dangerous anomalies >thirst, hunger and sleep bar, the first two are already in LA. >use of detectors to detect artifacts like CS and CoP, AA2 already does it to an extent >Guitar and Harmonica "officially" implemented? (working ones), there is already this mod http://www.mediafire.com/download/ae600ryte52oigk/guitar+etc+huds+UPDATE.7z (like online piano where you can play the song note by note) >addition of faction relations bar like CS TFW, and maybe implementation of skills system of TFW or SGM >implementation of dynamic shaders (like raindrops)? just the implementation itself, mods can take care of the shaders themselves. I don't know if SoC supports this, AA2 had no dynamic shaders like that iirc >Fix the level transitions cutting the rain sounds on arrival (AA2 fixes this and I think Doom's Mod Merge as well (AMK Repo edition does too)). This has always bothered me. >if you can, fix transparent textures (windows, water, barbed wire) not affected by fog so they appear super bright through the fog >implement no-dvd fix for us that want to avoid steam. Or bought the game on release and wore out the dvd. >the 1.0008 patch i posted shouldn't have any copy protection, but i have it on steam too so maybe its working because of that >More testing required then, I'd do it myself but my comps bricked for the moment. > It doesn't have any protection I tested it out
Changelog of what the guy wants to do
