okay so im playing soup now finally but on collector mode
can someone tell me what the difficulties mean too?? like i want to switch to "advanced" difficulty (im guessing thats the stalkersoup counterpart of vanilla normal) but i crash when i try to play that difficulty but i can play on collector difficulty fine
Can you revive NPCs through console codes in Shadow of Chernobyl?
I have a quest to turn in to Skull but he's dead as fuck
afaik you need to edit the spawner thing in alife.
which requires a new game to complete the changes.
so nop ur fukt
good luck on getting replies, this thread has a hardon for completely ignoring problems and going off on stupid shit tangents

The Collector is Soup's own freeplay mode. I assume it's crashing because the other difficulties aren't freeplay, it's not really a "difficulty".

okay but i assume you can still play those difficulties though, and why is it crashing just because its not freeplay??
i dont really want to start out in free play like is there anyway i can fix this
Is it crashing if you start a new game on any of the other difficulties or are you trying to switch difficulties ingame? If it's crashing when you try to start a new game on any other difficulties I have no idea.
I think the Collector mode is based around collecting things rather than doing the main quest, I'm not sure if it removes the MQ entirely or not. It's supposed to make things more dynamic in some ways, somehow, though.

i first tried starting a game on advanced and then it crashed me
i heard a suggestion that its because the game is loading so damn much that if you play a lil bit in collector mode youll be able to start new games in other difficulties without hassle
From what I've heard you want to stick with either Collector or Marked one for optimal experiences, I think.

nvm i got it to work on story mode, i felt too op on collector mode like i was already at end game because i basically killed everything; even those stupid ass invisible exoskeleton guys
i just killed a whole military squad with a dinky makarov pm, even one of those tryhard bloodsucker wannabe douchebags

That's one thing I like about the Soup. Damage is really high on both ends, so even though enemies can kill you quick, you can return the favor easily if your aim is good.
Look through that thread, they've been working out dependencies and stuff.
[editline]10th May 2014[/editline]
what?
It's been possible since they released the SDK :v:
I didn't think it was possible because I didn't see anybody making any new maps just porting in old/cut/ones from others in the series
Sounds like SGM 2.1 with Alpha Squads disabled.

2.2 cuts out quite a few things, and puts in badly-implemented CS levels i.e. they're damn near barren, and the storyline missions that tie them together will have you running across the entire length of the Swamps and Cordon no less than twice in each direction for no reason whatsoever other than to drag out the entire experience.
Thanks for the suggestion, guys. It is really fun!

How do I change the "game over" text? Where is the string located?

Quite a few mods have new maps, like Valley of Shorohov. It's quite a lot of work to make new levels and you need to be experienced with both 3D max and the SDK. Borovos has been working on his level for almost a year and it has more than twice the poly count of GSC's highest poly level, Marsh. Which people thought was impossible. RobberBaron/Bangalore (Who worked with Kanyhalos on Oblivion Lost) and Borovos are SDK masters for all three versions of SDK.
Is Soup worth it? I've heard really mixed reviews.

Well, it's free so yes? It is THE batshit insane russian kitchen sink mod, take that as you will.
Is Soup worth it? I've heard really mixed reviews.
It depends on the quality of your computer and the mental strength you bear. The mod is the epitome of confusing bullshit and thus has offput mostly every person from playing it to the end. From what I also noticed the mod tends to shit itself some time before X-16 on my end because there's too many NPCs crapping up the Zone by that point, so take that however you will.

What do you mean by this?

My version of Soup had ~40 levels, most of which are chock full of mutants and stalkers. I think the overdone spawns eventually led me to have constant out-of-memory crashes, but that was on my far worse PC. It might work for you the whole mile, but let me tell you: Beware of Pripyat and all that comes North. The place is a notorious crashzone, especially on weaker computers.

My computer is pretty strong.

I don't see why not, unless you have really slow internet/a monthly data cap. It's incredibly bat-shit crazy with broken English everywhere, but it's still pretty fun and I really like the ballistics in it.
The loading times are pretty lengthy though, even installed on an SSD it still takes a bit to load saves.

How big is it?
Expression : m_foot_bones[leg_type] != BI_NONE
Function : CStepManager::get_foot_position
File : step_manager.cpp
Line : 196
Description : foot bone had not been set
So this started happening in the area where you get the Hunters Shotgun for the drunk stalker at the bar. Any assistance?
How big is it?
The main download for it is 7.17 gigs.
I started playing Shadow of Chernobyl, I quit about 2 years ago after getting killed by the soldiers blocking the way to garbage because I was dumb and attacked them.
This is not nearly as open world as I was expecting, there I was running around with everything I could pick up expecting to find merchants to sell shit to instead of millions of bandits and a battalion of soldiers.

Were you expecting Metro? Fallout?
Were you expecting Metro? Fallout?
Yeah I was playing it too much like Fallout. At one point I had like 10 handguns on me because I thought I would sell them when I reached garbage. I didn't know there was nothing in garbage.

Stalker is very much self preservation. Only carry what you need to survive, hunt artifacts for money.
Did anyone see a Controller in LA?
Also what is about [sp]"boss" bloodsucker in X2[/sp]?
So making maps is possible now?
Yes, it possible since a long time with official SDK.
I did a first version of this level on SDK0.4 last year.

It was not very highpoly like the last one (it was around 8-9millions) but it was more than all levels in three games (vanilla or from mods) and it run perfectly on SoC + Superbin1.0006.
CS Marsh is the bigger level in stalker games/mods with around 5 or 6 millions poly.
Work on SDK0.4 was too fast for me, i stopped.
During last year, i did other things and finally i chose to work on SDK0.7 for CoP. And the result is very fine imo.
For me, it have not real limit about geometry/polycount (if you use correctly LOD and HOM object).
I added hundreds car in my level, a lot of vegetation. And each Lod car object have his own hom object.
For three games/sdk, limits are the aimap size (so, it's link to level size) and tools properties like multicore support and memory capacity during compilation.
As example, i'm working on a old computer: Core2 Duo E8400, 8Go Ram DDR2, HDD Sata2, Win7 64bits.
I'm not using Core i7, 16Go DDR3, Sata3 or SSD.
To conclude, I'm not interested by LA SDK (gamedata/mod is unstable and it's LUA language, i don't think they did a better work on C++ with code source).
I prefer to work on CoP Engine (it's stable, it's easier/smoother to use than SDK 0.4 or 0.5)
And if someone want to create level on Soc, he need to wait. Russians are creating better tools for SoC 1.0007 like new xrai/xrlc.
Ofc, i'll test LA SDK if it's release one day, i'm curious. But since I played LA, i don't think that i'll create anything with it.
Sorry, but I don't see where is the originality/performance/innovation in LA engine:
You want to play with DX10 render, you have CS or CoP (CS render is better imo), they are stable.
Dynamic object/Physics? This feature is broken because AI don't see dynamic object and collide with it...too stupid.
EAX sounds? This feature was broken in previous Xray Engine, GSC didn't use it and Dez didn't correct it, it's always broken. I'm affraid by helis sound when i was in escape underground!
Highpoly or high size levels? Where are they? Nowhere for me. Stancia or Forest levels are not feat.
Long ago, OGSE team created a high size level, a merge between Escape and Garbage. For test, they merged more levels. But they are limited by aimap size and SDK0.4 properties.
In past the NC project started high size level but they stopped it because they are limited by aimap size too.
For me, the real needful innovation on Xray was missing in LA engine, extend the aimap size or change the system for alife travelling (maybe to create a real openworld as in others engine? I know i'm dreaming)
I'm sure that russian will be more productive with leaked Xray engine 1.0007.
That's nice work with the Vehicle Graveyard Borovos, and great to have you here on FP!
Have you got any plans for the level? I'm just a bit worried it could actually be a bit boring if there's nothing really there but wreckage. It is nice to see Rossokha in game properly though :)
