I didn't think it was possible because I didn't see anybody making any new maps just porting in old/cut/ones from others in the series
It really is difficult and very time consuming, that's what dez was doing those few first years with LA. Imo they did a great job, for example, just like this vehicle graveyard, took Borovos a year to do, but it's still quite bland in my opinion (or it could be just because it's on cop's engine and that sucks the life out of almost everything), so you can tell how much work such things need...
Hey Beacon, Thanks. For me, this is not a living place. It's a garbage and i added a lot of radioactive zone. It's hostile area, not a safe place. So, i didn't want to see a lot of campfire with npc stay or walk here. Now, i only added three campfire around the graveyard. Maybe we'll add another one. I added a first anomaly field. I plan to add one or two others. As i did it first for me and next for CoC mod, it is as other levels in a freeplay game. If someone use CoC as a map pack sandbox with full alife to create a new mod, it could be a good place for quests. It's a good for ambush, to add stashes, or "sniper job" for player as i added watchtower. As the decor is very close, the player could be easily surprised by mutants or enemies.
I didn't think it was possible because I didn't see anybody making any new maps just porting in old/cut/ones from others in the series
And what about Kostyan map pack on SoC? NC project build? AMK work? And a lot... New levels are in stalkers games since a long time. And new others ones are coming soon from russian teams, like this examples for CoP:
That's nice work with the Vehicle Graveyard Borovos, and great to have you here on FP! Have you got any plans for the level? I'm just a bit worried it could actually be a bit boring if there's nothing really there but wreckage. It is nice to see Rossokha in game properly though :)
In description:
A lot of work still needs to be done (adding A-life, smart terrains, paths, etc) but as you can see it has successfully compiled and is very playable.
It's not just going to be empty level, we will add stuff. :v:

I imagine it as somewhere you really wouldn't go anywhere near unless you were suited up properly with antirads coming out of every orifice ;) The reason I asked was because it's such a cool looking area, it'd be a shame not to have any reasons to actually explore it :)
Ever wanted MISERY for LA? Someone eventually did it. [t]http://media.moddb.com/images/downloads/1/70/69277/MiseryLA.jpg[/t] :v:
I played a bit more LA last night and explored out through Wild Territory, got to Construction Site and wanted to loop back through Yantar, only to get the message 'Dangerous area' and not able to transition... Really hate that bullshit mechanic. Had to retrace my steps back to the bar :/
Don't want to sound like a dick but why ruin the only thing LA did well?
More of an insult to L.A. than it is to Misery, LOL.
Can anyone post the latest version of the LA weapons model pack? My latest version is 0.93, so I want to know if I have missed an update or two. And after applying the latest Lost Alpha patch, I get this: Expression : fatal error Function : CResourceManager::_GetBlender File : ..\xrRender\ResourceManager.cpp Line : 70 Description : <no expression> Arguments : Shader 'def_vtx' not found in library. Man this is getting under my skin, constant problems left and right.
Wait .. there's actual level transition blocking in LA? damn
apparently you can't go to certain levels before they're unlocked in the story...
apparently you can't go to certain levels before they're unlocked in the story...
They spent 7 years just to turn Stalker into generic fps with ME3-like ending. wow
They spent 7 years just to turn Stalker into generic fps with ME3-like ending. wow
From what I've heard, this pretty much sums it up
To act as a devil's advocate here the endgame in the original games is restricted as well, and story progression is prevented unless you jump through all of the hoops in the exact order the developers want you to(unless you count the fact that SoC's progression can be exploited to hell and back as "open-endedness", but granted, Lost Alpha's way of doing it is pretty artificial and crude. There seems to be a level unlocker floating around though, which would enable people to bypass the silly restrictions on levels but I've yet to test it if it's legit.
They spent 7 years just to turn Stalker into generic fps with ME3-like ending.
From what I've read, project was restarted and put on hold multiple times, the whole "7 years!"-shpiel is not the most accurate in that regard and seems like most of the working time was put into creating the levels from scratch and it shows, Lost Alpha's levels are impressive even if it was actually 7 years(which it wasn't) just for that. While incredibly disappointing on it's own, I just don't understand the flat out dismissal of LA as "shit" and blunder of the century, because the framework it provides with the expanded level hub and the new mechanics will, in due time, make it the definitive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience even if the endings are silly and don't feel exactly very s.t.a.l.k.e.r.-y. It actually seems like they weren't working on much anything in the later stages at all, because the beta from October 2013 is pretty much tit-for-tat the exact same as the current, released version except that it manages to have fewer bugs than the release version. [editline]herp[/editline] The worst thing about Lost Alpha are the devs' denialist attitudes about it's most glaring problem, which is the A-Life.
Seems to me it was an issue with who ever was in lead. It has great levels, some well done scripting (at least stuff done by Griphoon and Barin who stopped in 2012) but the story and design are all over the place. Find the person who thought adding homosexual innuendos and illuminati was funny and you'll find the person who ruined L.A. I feel bad for the coders, all that hard work to have it ruined by childish dick who thought my little pony easter eggs and rainbows was great. They also didn't test for shit. TS said that last build was like a brand new game to him. That is a long ass time to go without testing if a tester says that.
There's MLP shit in LA? Really?
Find the person who thought adding homosexual innuendos and illuminati was funny and you'll find the person who ruined L.A.
Damn you loxotron, no wonder that some in-game texts contain swears towards him :v:
There's MLP shit in LA? Really?
Well there goes my desire to play LA when I get home.
..all that hard work to have it ruined by childish dick who thought my little pony easter eggs and rainbows was great...
What, really? If so, I know what I want to mod out of the game first.
Honestly, I appreciate what LA is going to do for modding but as a game itself it ain't great.
The levels are the best that stalker has ever received though, so that is a great platform to start any mod in itself.
The levels are indeed the best thing. It's just a shame that it feels way too much linear. He should just remove the borders.
Thanks for the suggestion, guys. It is really fun! [vid]http://puu.sh/8HIDc.webm[/vid] How do I change the "game over" text? Where is the string located?
Here, use this translation http://www.moddb.com/mods/translations/downloads/sgm-21-english-trans-with-dynamic-news
I fixed Lost Alpha.... http://freetexthost.com/q134pzdcl5 Wasn't that hard really... just took a whole week to gather everything the community had produced, merge/fix/get rid of lots of bugs.... voila Mmmmm... yes.... bugs ThaOneDon
i cant find kostyas cache i reloaded a save before getting the mission to find it like 5 times, and apparently it can spawn in 3 locations (in a cross south east of the military checkpoint, in a pile of rocks east of that bandit camp or south of a tree near the railroad encampment) and all of them were empty this is frustrating

I will stick with only getting critical fixes I need. Also the upgrade fix doesn't fix Petrenko, so I doubt the credibility of everything here.
I think a workaround for Petrenko is to drop your suit if you're using the one you found in Strelok's stash. For some reason it's a unique suit and it causes a crash if you try to upgrade with it in your inventory.

Only thing i added was spawn menu and that isn't even working properly... get out of here
I think the thing that's been bugging me the most about LA is just the way certain members of the dezowave team has been acting towards the playerbase. Both Tejas Stalker and Vintar in particular are just massively snarky assholes to anyone who criticises it. It's really unprofessional and drives me nuts. I really want to slap both of them upside the head. I know it's a free product, but it really makes you look bad when you treat your players like that.
UI? Only thing i added was spawn menu and that isn't even working properly... get out of here
Really now? Have you put so much shit into your s3r1ous pack that you s3r1ously don't know what is there anymore? Good job ignoring the rest of my post as well. Here you can clearly see UI files. First is unmodded. [t]http://puu.sh/8Ir3X.jpg[/t] Next we have modded which is clearly different, probably from misery, and includes some icons for bandages, etc. [t]http://puu.sh/8Ir1X.jpg[/t]
