English-Russia article on the 16-story tenement buildings in Pripyat! Wish I had more time to explore the one I climbed to the top of last year.
Am I the only one who never got on the LA hype train and is sitting here now unsurprised that something that took almost a decade to come out is not what people expected?

So, I finished LA just now. [sp]jesus christ people weren't kidding, that ending is homoerotic is all hell. GhostxStrelok fan fiction ahoy. And the whole etheral thing with a lisp talking to me during lab X-2 was just silly.[/sp] At least I have freeplay. [editline]11th May 2014[/editline] Overall, I give LA a 6/10 Awesome levels, cool gameplay elements, and it makes a pretty awesome first impression. But past the mid-point of the game it starts to fall apart, and gets increasingly worse, and increasingly cheesy. It kind of feels like a better translated version of one of those goofy Russian mods that attempt a new storyline, except with far better level design and assets.
Yeah, they probably would have been better off releasing it as a freeroam mod, then adding in a story later.
Yeah, they probably would have been better off releasing it as a freeroam mod, then adding in a story later.
Yeah, if they were all sick of stalker years ago like Florence mentioned they should have just released map-pack and SDK.

So uh x-18 in stalkersoup. Where the burers at? Also I got a bug where I crash trying to get X-18 stuff, though I'm not sure if it's related. It's just some of the breakable containers in the rooms at the end. This is the log:
Expression : !object->used_ai_locations() || ai().level_graph().valid_vertex_id(object->m_tNodeID) Function : CALifeSwitchManager::add_online File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\alife_switch_manager.cpp Line : 64 Description : Invalid vertex for object Arguments : af_ameba_slime17603
So, playing with an absurd mod and then modifying your carrying capacity to 500 because hording tendencies - when you finally decide to clean out some unused items, it gets a bit much. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/3317210733523381523/A0789A1D64BFAE77273882B0D917525E2AF80788/[/t]
did they just stop giving a shit halfway through development or what
That was just a random 'news' thing, not part of the story, at all...
That was just a random 'news' thing, not part of the story, at all...
i know, but every news thing i've seen has been some weird thing. even the craziest russian mods at least have some news things that are slightly serious
I got a crash near the Duty base while using TFW 3.8 + /vg/'s extra patch. Anyone else ever get anything similar? I was crashing in Yantar as well and I'm wondering if it's something similar. Patchv3 is the extra one I have, if anyone wants to check it out. It feels like it needs more guns or variation or something.
Someone made a seamless S:SOC world, albeit not perfect. ... believe it :v: [editline]12th May 2014[/editline] *Me wondering how IN THE HELL this was done*
i know, but every news thing i've seen has been some weird thing. even the craziest russian mods at least have some news things that are slightly serious
ITS THE ZONE WITH GATS THAT MAKE YOUR HEAD CRACK
Scavenging the AMK forums a bit, I found this mod. Seems pretty cool, for your average russian wizadry mod. (NLC did this as well) [t]http://cache2.static.itmages.ru/24c481c1900d7eb9ce26bb83ba0caf0a6226312b.jpg[/t] [t]http://cache3.static.itmages.ru/f88a30cf883def85191cc84967196e959230fc05.jpg[/t]
Whaaat Frozen Zone has been released?! Oh, it's just LA... Then NVM :v:
Just looks like all the level geometry slapped together (badly) to me.
Yeah, I know. I'm not surprised it looks like shit either, but ... -People- (modders) said this was impossible. Hell, I heard it was impossible to have a level that was twice as big as CNPP (front and back) together in the engine because of the poly limit of a million, yet look at this. I'm wondering how this had been done, because if this is possible, why not go out of your way to create one big seamless level indeed? To have a real 30km2 exclusion zone. -- In other news, a new version of ZRP is going to surface and it looks and seems tasty. Plus, STCoP:Weapon pack released a new patch and it looks super tasty as well! A video:

But the problem is in RAM management - geometry of all 18 location eat 4-5Gb. Imagine RAM requirements for fully operational seamless SoC with A-life and stuff.
How much damage would it take to get through a Exoskeleton chest plating realistically. Also what's the weakpoint on an exoskeleton.
How much damage would it take to get through a Exoskeleton chest plating realistically. Also what's the weakpoint on an exoskeleton.
Exosuits/Radsuits sport a combination of thick full-body kevlar protection along with strategically placed composite and/or titanium armor plates covering the surface layer. Depending on how and with what you shot him, the torso part of the armor could prove highly effective against regular medium-caliber bullets, but would still get penetrated by armor-piercing rounds and high caliber rifle rounds due to the fact that it's just too thin to reflect them. As for the weakpoint, anything that's not covered up well enough. That accounts for the uncovered joints on legs, the arms, the servomotors(if it's an Exosuit instead of a Radsuit), and the area between the head and the neck.
How much damage would it take to get through a Exoskeleton chest plating realistically
The "Exoskeleton" is really nothing more than the "battery-powered external frame with synthetic muscle fibers and servomotors" based around the Radsuit which is the armor itself if we're to be nitpicky. But to answer the question itself, the Radiation Suit, which is basically underneath the actual exoskeleton structure, is, and I quote, "The vest is the bulkiest and most striking element, as it consists of several thick layers of kevlar and can be reinforced with composite or titanium plates for increased protection. It is also integrated with a back mounted chassis, to which the exoskeleton is attached.". [editline]herp[/editline] Dangit, beaten.
How would electricity react with the armor?
Armor itself ? Probably would do nothing, but the electronics within the exoskeleton itself might get damaged, if they were exposed to heavy electrical shock.
How would electricity react with the armor?
How would electricity react with the armor?
Depends. Most stalkers seem to have rubber for shoes, so the only way you can figure that out is by looking at the thing's electric protection.
Armor itself ? Probably would do nothing, but the electronics within the exoskeleton itself might get damaged, if they were exposed to heavy electrical shock.
Yeah so, say it was purposely shot at with some custom built taser designed to give a high enough charge. What would happen. Would the user become immobile due to the suit requiring the exo at the time.
It tells us X-ray can handle big seamless locations. But the problem is in RAM management - geometry of all 18 location eat 4-5Gb. Imagine RAM requirements for fully operational seamless SoC with A-life and stuff.
'bout time we needed an excuse to chug past 8GB as a reasonable gamer's minimum, anyway - I remember having a little kvetch five good years ago over whether 4GB would be reasonable compromise to take to afford an SSD, and it seems the days of cray-cray expansion smoothing out all the wounds have gone.
together in the engine because of the poly limit of a million,
Uhh, nearly half the stalker maps are over a Million Polys. Pripyat in SOC is around 4.5 Million.
