Uh, apparently Doctor Sakharov isn't immune to Blowouts in Lost Alpha. Had a Blowout at Yantar and I took shelter in the building where Professor Kruglov and the other professor are and when the blowout ended, Kruglov was in his bunker, dead. I can understand some of the controversial design choices in Lost Alpha, but making sure that plot-critical characters don't die to events that happen really often and can't be avoided.

Although I couldn't say a single bad word from my own personal interactions with both vintar and dez, they all seem nice and helped me out by sending quick-fixes so I could finish up LA unpatched. I've been testing patch 2 as well, which should be fixing most of hardcoded engine bugs (for example, npp/x2/generators render crashes regarding particles, took a while for them to figure out what was causing that), so I think LA will be getting better and better, as I'm pretty sure they are willing to move forward, not just by fixing it, but also by adding all that extra missing content. Personally I'm feeling quite optimistic about LA's future :smile:

Yeah, I'm almost done with this mod/game too, until they can fix it to at least a somewhat presentable shape. It's absolutely frustrating to see how Lost Alpha would be really great, but the absolute heaps of issues keep bringing the entire experience down and making it so frustrating.

Might be viable to use imported Stalker assets as placeholders and swap them out over time, but that brings with it its own problems.

A friend of mine actually did this already in CE2 but had to stop at one moment in time. It looked terrific, he created all assets by himself and did the level design / particles / effects as well. It had the gloomy atmosphere SoC has with the visuals of CoP times 3. Sadly had to stop because of his health. :v:

Vintar's starting to piss me off. He really needs to quit being such an asshole to the players. Seriously.
He is from South Africa and he owns a sweat shop. He is evil. I'm not sure what context he says these things in. I never figured out if he means to intentionally be a dick or he just has an abusive sense of humor.
The rest of the dezowave team seems to be alright, I haven't noticed much from anyone except TS or Vintar as far as hostility. But Tejas isn't even that bad. Vintar is just purely toxic to every thread he comes into, and it drives me up the wall.
Fuck Vintar. He's a manchild.

Well I don't think it's exactly fair to compare LA and OLR. LA is more of... I guess it's an original product, honestly. It strays a lot from the original design docs, while it does have some of the original features it's not very...Oblivion Lost-ish. It's closer to SoC with vehicles. (So basically SoC circa build 2205, eg 2005) OLR is 2003-2004 all the way through, and it sticks to the design docs quite closely.
Jesus christ lol So im playing stalker on dooms merge for the first time in a long time and i decide to use the exploit that lets you break into the armory without killing off any freedom guys. I manage to push the guard away with a barrel but he ends up walking back to position, trapping me behind him. Suddenly a miracle happens and the barrel fucking kills him without even moving. Woo free guns!

I don't know what mod it was, but there was one where you could talk to him and have some sort of dialogue option like:"Move the fuck out of the way or ill make you". Funny thing is ... if you chose that they'd all become hostile to you and blast yer pretty face off :v: [editline]15th May 2014[/editline] Now I come to think of it .... there's so much dialogue in the game, but almost no dialog can make you piss off stalkers ... I think it's odd. Why not have some funny dialog options in there, like NPC:"Hey, stalker" Player:[I]"Fuck off"[/I] [B]NPC hostile[/B] or like NPC:"Hey, stalker" Player:"You look like someone I can rob some stuff off" reaction 1;"No, please take my money instead -> randomized money transfer" reaction 2; Hostile or something along those lines. Turns out we were mistaken about the cap on smart terrains. This can be fixed by altering the smart terrain mask. So we can add as many smarts as we want now. :)
