S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

So, I went to find the helicopter map in CoP, only to be greeted by 3 dwarves and just less than 10 bloodsuckers. My RPG was no match for them seeing as they pulled it away all the time, and when I got it up I had to shoot 6 shells to get rid of them, shortly after being assaulted by all the bloodsuckers and invisible zombies, I died by shooting the ground with a RPG. Such is life in the zone.
I use to play STALKER on a ATI XT1300 512mb, so suck it.
Static render and 10FPS shooting the MP5. Then I upgraded to a XTX1950 and was able to use the other renders, stock only. Blew my mind.
To be fair, my newer computer which use to kick the shit out of games a few years back, still cried with Sun Shadows and other settings on Clear Sky/Pripyat. It's only now with an new, extremely modern card that I can crank those games up, and even max without mods.
STALKER is not optimized. Most games out of the East aren't.
First time I played stalker was on a ATI Radeon 9600 which was like 128Mb if I recall.
I had to play Stalker on Static with a 6600GT when it was released, even when upgraded SSAO and other 'fancy' stuff just was turned off because I noticed my computer hemorrhaging.
Then I found out Sun Rays are just so unoptimized and putting them on Low gives more FPS and the same quality? :v:

Geforce 6200 bro
Athlon xp +2400

I....I still don't know I managed to enjoy the game. Guess I was so young that I didn't give a fuck about the washed textures and blocky models

Oh man, I went from a Radeon 9200, to playing Stalker on a 9600 like you, then the good shit came along and I got an nVidia 6800 and good times were had. AGP was a weird time.

Had a 7300GT when I first got STALKER, later on moved to a 9600GT as soon as it got released and then a GTX 460 on release. I got lucky I suppose.
Still waiting on the god damn Nvidia 800 series to come out.
I heard older video cards actually run Stalker much better. Someone claimed that his old Nvidia GTS 450 runs Stalker (w/ Misery 2) on max settings in DX11 at about 40+ FPS. He said it's because Nvidia is scamming people:

He has a ton of other videos of running GPU intensive games with his old video card on max settings. He was spamming this shit to my inbox and comment page, which is why he says "It's not spam" over and over. He claims it's done intentionally by Nvidia through voltage variations and poor drivers:
This is only fault of Nvidia poor drivers and voitage variations.
Times were different.
15-20FPS didn't bother me if the gameplay was solid. It wasn't until I got into more competitive, multiplayer games that I gave a rats' ass about framerate. And now I'm spoiled by it. :v:

Framerate has never really been an issue for me in Xray, unimpressive though it is on my HD 7690m xt. Just the damn microstutter.
brother!
Aye, it was my favorite graphics card, took a lot of punishment trying to run games it really shouldn't.
How long does it take for NPCs to become neutral, if at all
I accidentally shot at the Duty guards in the Garbage and now I can't pass with them shooting me, but the Duty guys in the bar are perfectly fine with me
pls respond

I remember I tried to run the Crysis MP Beta on it even though the file(planet, i think?) "can you run it?" thing said I couldn't.
I think it was like 5-8 fps on high and every 3 minutes of playing on high it would cause the card to overheat.
I once thought 12 fps was playable

I used to play 3D games at that framerate when I was about 6-7 years old, then I worked it out.

NPCs don't become neutral based on time, if your relation with specific stalkers has become sour enough that they start to shoot you from you shooting at them, I don't think there's any way to turn them back from being hostile toward you. Your best bet would be probably to try and pull them to areas where bandits / mutants might be able to kill them or just grin and bear it.
You can improve your relationship with Duty in general by doing quests for them (such as Voronin's automated quests at Wild Territory and Yantar) or killing bandits should gradually slightly improve your status with them, so theoretically you might be able to kill them and take the relationship hit with Duty in general, then just grind the automated quests and kill bandits until your relations with them are normal.
If you're unafraid to cheat the game a little bit, you could turn yourself immortal, go stand right next to the Duty guys who're trying to shoot you and then bait them into friendly firing each other until they've all killed each other.
Furthermore, a lot of mods add an option to talk to Barkeep and Sidorovich - with an option that basically says "oh shit I pissed someone off please fix." They'll charge you like 40,000 roubles or something and instantly fix the relationship with that faction.
If you're playing a modded game, that is. If not, good luck. :v:
jesus fuck
I forgot Sidorovich's name, so I was looking over the STALKER wiki and
[t]http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100716113315/stalker/images/4/4a/E93ce.jpg[/t]
From an earlier build. The zone was not ready.

Its what I ran STALKER on first of all too. Was one hell of a graphics card.

What would the console command for the last one be?
What would the console command for the last one be?
You can't make yourself invincible via console commands, however, you'd have to navigate to gamedata\config\creatures\actor.ltx and find the actor_immunities section for whatever difficulty you're playing at, then change fire_wound_immunity = 1.0 or whatever to fire_wound_immunity = 0.0 to make their bullets do 0 damage.
If the copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Shadow of Chernobyl you're running is completely Vanilla, it's possible that you don't have access to the gamedata folder without using an unpacker, but even regular bugfix mods like ZRP should be able to have the configs unpacked enough so you can do some basic edits to them.

Honestly, personally I'd just make a backup save and shoot up the Duty guys at the Garbage checkpoint. If that doesn't make the rest of the Duty at the Bar angry, then you're safe. If it does, just load the save where Duty isn't yet hostile to you and ignore the South.
They just stood there shooting the tank

How long does it take to get the mission which gives you the Sniper VLA from the Duty guy
I've done several missions for him, but now he doesn't have any more jobs for me
Anyone got any decent recommendations for Clear Sky mods?
Try OGSM Community Edition
Anyone got any decent recommendations for Clear Sky mods?
Clear Sky is the only game in the series where using the Complete mod is fine. All the other mods are rather bad or not fully developed.

Run while you can, the entire FP thread is about to go full chimera!
Clear Sky is the only game in the series where using the Complete mod is fine
Kinda/sorta want to agree but it still doesn't have any content to warrant a second playthrough with it. Complete for CS is more like the lube you use if you want it to pass more quickly through your system.
Laxative you mean?
I guess it depends on the perspective on CS whether it feels passing something through your system or something violently forcing itself in. I know that playing unpatched CS and trying every subsequent version and having them crash too until 1.5.10+Complete finally made it possible to finish the final level certainly reminded me more of the latter analogue. Nowadays Clear Sky fully patched isn't too bad, except that for example for me, without SRP / Complete, I couldn't change ammo types in Vanilla, and the CNPP section would just crash upon loading and some people have reported Limansk savegames being still unstable. Still, most of the game is decently playable.

I'd say that if you're looking for a mod to 'just' play Clear Sky once with, I'd go for SRP+Karstux pistol ironsights but for a second playthrough, yeah, I'll probably second OGSM and if you just want to freeplay, The Faction War is most likely your best bet.
If you're willing to wait, Road to Limansk will probably be the next "Flavour of the Month" mod for Clear Sky once it gets a stable release.
