The Misery (2.1) mod for Call of Pripyat has some of the shittiest stashes I've ever encountered. Wanna know what's in the stash at the burnt farmstead? A fucking drug-making kit. I danced around napalm geysers and was the fiddler on the roof for a few minutes only to find a drug-making kit. Wanna know what the stashes are most of the time? Soviet cigarettes, old playboy magazines, sometimes alcohol, and the rest of the time it's just shit. Also, pro-tip, it isn't worth hunting for artifacts in Misery unless you have either the Seva or SSP9 (???) suit. Also, if you have the money, stock up on aluminum frames (they allow you to have an extra 4~ kilograms of carry weight.) On another note, the Misery mod has seriously turned me into what I detest most; a bandit. I've essentially turned into a scumbag, just to get enough money for food/ammo/repairs (repair kits>paying for repairs, honestly,) but I justify my serial killing by mostly going for mercs and dutyers. My current loadout (first playthrough, playing as Recon) right now is a fully modified AK 105 w/scope+silencer+grenade launcher, a Seva suit (about halfway modified,) 3 aluminum frames (because I enjoy looting,) fully modded binoculars, a headlamp (the pistol/flashlight combo becomes obsolete once you get a headlamp :v: ,) and other assorted things.
drug making kits can be sold for a pretty decent amount of rubles iirc
I know, and I've sold plenty, but for once I'd like to find a nice modded weapon, or a contained artifact, or an outfit... or an extra attachment slot. To any other FP stalkers that have played Misery mod, what did you think of dark mode? I honestly couldn't stand it, I found it really irritating (especially since I went with the Black Road start along with it, huge mistake.) I ended up immediately starting over.
Most of what you're describing here is what MISERY is about :v:
I don't want to sound negative, but making game artificially harder isn't my cup of tea. If its going to be harder it better damn make sense like in real world.

I was expecting that pretty much anywhere semi enclosed would at least lower the amount of radiation, as one would expect from actual fallout - but it dosn't work that way. That and the amount of radiation you receive during the day is far higher than I was hoping. All of that would perhaps have been fine. Frustrating perhaps, but playable - but then I cozied up to the mercenaries, gave them all the 'meat' they desired and joined them for a hand of cards in their shed shelter, while outside burned. Welp then a blowout started sometime around noon. "No problem I thought" these guys arn't so bad, and this is a blowout shelter too, so we can just stay put. After reorganizing my inventory and chatting up the boss for a bit - I saw the all clear news update, so I opened the door and.. Was shot in the back by the guys I'd just brought lunch for. Turns out, even if you're friendly with them, and they let you ride out the blowout, the minute it finishes, they turn instantly hostile. As I'd quicksaved inside the shelter, there was literally nothing I could do but try to burst out, leaving a grenade behind so they didn't kill me. After that I just went back to black road. There are some things you take with you forever stalker, and being forced to kill a bunch of dudes I'd just made sandwiches for. It ain't right.

Misery reminds me how boring artificial difficulty mods are, and then I go back and play some absurd 200+ new gun sprint like sanic shoot from hip mod, and I can't stop loving it.
there is a balance and it's called AMK AMK is love, AMK is life I would cuddle AMK, dream of his innovative features and wake up ready to face a new day knowing that no matter what happens, AMK would be there to support me We'd go to the movies, or out to eat. We'd go on a picnic in a flower covered field. Then we'd lay there and just watch the clouds. We'd sit and watch the sunset and fall asleep in each others arms.

Those mercenaries to the south, and east of the iron forest, are supposed to be permanently friendly towards you after you bring them enough clean food. (Unless you decide to shoot/kill them, of course)
You can find some cool stashes IF and only IF you search for them in the most unthinkable places TIP: Roof of the gas station in Zaton.
I honestly hadn't even thought of doing that before, I'll keep this in mind and I'll post results later on.
Misery reminds me how boring artificial difficulty mods are, and then I go back and play some absurd 200+ new gun sprint like sanic shoot from hip mod, and I can't stop loving it.
Eh, I got pretty used to it after grinding enough for some semi-decent gear. The difficulty isn't too bad once I learned that there are plenty of fights that I should just avoid (especially early on,) whether it's with bandits, mutants, or worse. Speaking of artificial difficulty, there was one that came out for SoC (forgot the name,) that I played years ago which was much harder than Misery. No matter what gear you had, you'd die in just a few shots, your gear would degrade, weapons did tons of damage (whether you were using them, or the enemy was,) radiation was a lot more intense, and everything was OP as hell. I remember going through the warehouses north of the Bar, constantly saving the game for every few feet of ground I covered or for every kill I made. I'd always run back to that stash by the entrance just to put away my loot for later. Blowouts would always send stalkers pouring into the Bar or Sidorovich's bunker, and things would get claustrophobic real fast.
I respect every opinion regarding MISERY. It's a mod after all and you're not forced to like it (TBH, without certain mods to MISERY I didn't like it myself either, and I've around since MISERY 1.2) I do have to say ... MISERY does what it does very good. The mod is, although kinda flawed in some aspects, very unique and polished. Sure, grammatical errors and -unthinkable- game mechanics aside, the idea has been put to good use with several cool features attached.
I honestly like that you have to maintain your gear just to keep it in working condition, and having to keep materials for maintenance on you adds to the immersion. Misery is pretty swell once you get the hang of it and have the proper gear to actually leave Skadovsk without getting insta-kill. However, I hate how it eats up so much ram, especially since it doesn't eat up any other computer resources. It's a mod for a game whose engine is nearly 10 years old. Why does it have to eat up ram? It's almost like playing Fallout 3 around release, in that it will crash quite often (but never when anything important is happening, fortunately.) Also, Hawaiian doesn't sell AK ammo (and I think he's the only trader in Jupiter,) so I have to commute back and forth between Zaton and Jupiter (walk to Zaton, then pay my way back into Jupiter, since I can't get there on foot.) How do I get to Jupiter on foot, anyway?
Is Redux 2.0 out yet? Or was it abandoned?
The work on it is ongoing, but slow.
You can find some cool stashes IF and only IF you search for them in the most unthinkable places TIP: Roof of the gas station in Zaton.
That's not really unthinkable, though; it's the location of the stalker suit stash in vanilla.
Is Redux 2.0 out yet? Or was it abandoned?
we're ramping up again now it's summer, I'm done with uni for the year so I can work a lot more on it now we're relaunching under a different banner soon!
That's not really unthinkable, though; it's the location of the stalker suit stash in vanilla.
No way, the stalker suit stash was elsewhere in vanilla, wasnt it near somebody's corpse? And even still, for most people, it's kinda unthinkable to do all the parkour in order to get up there. There were some other cool stashes, namely THAT one at ranger station, in Pripyat you can find all kinds of things. But yeah, compared to vanilla they are kinda lackluster. I never understood most people problems with Misery 2. If you have ever played ARMA 2 then you know how you should handle firefights. The 3 games I played as a sniper, had seen me using the same strategy: Doing first the bandits quests over at the Skadovsk, backstabbing the mofos and then using the newly acquired gear (from loot and financed loot) to get more loot from the Mercs over at the Waste station. From there on it is a piece of cake provided you don't come across any fucking controller or polter. The Prypiat lab was almost impossible to do due to this, I had to speedrun upstairs in order to lob a m203 into a tiny hole so as to kill the damn polter.

I found some of my own old Call of Pripyat mods in a folder I had tucked away. I think it was some effort to just add lots of high quality content into the game and fixing bugs, things like that. I didn't get very far until I got bored with it I suppose since it's basically a gamedata folder with all the bugfixes available and things like bumpmap fixes and some texture work that I did. Here's some screenshots I took real quick for those interested: A Freedom dude in a merc suit I guess [img_thumb]http://i62.tinypic.com/205uma.jpg[/img_thumb] A zombie meant for the X8 lab [img_thumb]http://i58.tinypic.com/dos8jd.jpg[/img_thumb] Ditto. [img_thumb]http://i58.tinypic.com/1492rcw.jpg[/img_thumb] Simple logo I made for the X8 zombies' coats, I wanted it to look similar to the Clear Sky logo [sp]since the original Clear Sky members were affiliated with the X8 lab among other things, just a little fun detail.[/sp] [img_thumb]http://i57.tinypic.com/2e4evt3.png[/img_thumb] And finally the suits (and helmet) that I had implemented into the game at the time.
And even still, for most people, it's kinda unthinkable to do all the parkour in order to get up there.
Not really. For anyone who's played any type of game that rewards exploration, the top of buildings is one of the more obvious spots. It's part of a simple design of putting bonus loot in obvious but out of sight locations; view in games is largely horizontal, people don't look up that much except when they need to. As such you can put ammo or other loot above the player's normal view to reward observation and awareness.
We added Zaton, Jupiter, Jupiter Underground, Lab x8 and Pripyat into Call of Chernobyl with main story line removed. Right now we have 31 maps total with 395 smart terrains. Total doesn't include Vehicle Graveyard, yet. I also added a handful of repeatable tasks. This mod is HUGE. Feel the true power of 1.6.
I can imagine the download size too. Ouch.

Speaking of levels, I really wish Call of Pripyat had more. CoP and Clear Sky are just dwarfed in size by SoC.
Cool, I got into the survarium CBT.
It turns out my previous statement about Hawaiian being the only trader in Jupiter was very wrong. I forgot all about Bonesetter, and he has a pretty wide selection of things to buy. He is a life saver. Also, in the Misery mod, there is an AKM in the stash on top of the gas station in Zaton. Too bad I already have a good gun, and I'm not sure if I'll be exchanging the AK-105 for anything else.
Cool, I got into the survarium CBT.
You lucky cyka, you
Is this also where we talk about Survivarium or is there a separate thread? Got into the Beta and I'm a bit disappointed that it works ala world of tanks.
