S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians
AMK for SoC is probably a good choice for your first attempt at a permadeath run. I've seen some streams of people trying to permadeath that and while they've mostly failed, it still seems like a relatively fair mod, like it doesn't throw in a ton of bullshit situations where you'll almost invariably die a thousand times but it mixes things up a little so it's more unpredictable than Vanilla.
And then the electro-chimeras show up.

it certainly looks that way
copyright infringement, sue them and make HL3
The first screenshot looks a lot like survarium.
How they managed to drag that out of xray I have no idea, some kind of russian black magic.

That shit looks like Metro on lower settings, which still looks pretty damn good.
that's a sexy flashlight flare, I want it
Speaking of black magic - Ray of Hope now has seamless CoP zone.

I'm pretty sure that graffiti is the Simba painting from The Lion King. Strange.
Man, after years of playing in static lightning. I can now play in DX 11, it's so beautiful..

That feel when getting a GPU equal to or greater than a GTX 460?
Shame DX11 is so broken in CoP
Shame DX11 is so broken in CoP
What about it was broken? I never really noticed anything wrong with it. Then again, I didn't try DX10 or DX9 either.
The performance is sub-par, and campfires don't work, to mention two things.

I've once made a huge list about this for MISERY because people were reporting stuff 'wrong' when they installed MISERY and played it with DX11 on ... (the complete kind ... never play the base game :v: )
I'll search it. It's pretty long
I'd like to see that list actually
Here you go

It was a thread, actually. Many fellow modders are saying DX11 doesn't do that much in CoP and only really gives you an FPS hit
And... S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is not on sale.
:(

GOG has it 33% off.
What are "renders" on GOG? It' on SoC's page.

Detailed shots of in-game models most likely. Similar to the gunporn that Millenia posts.
Who the fuck is "b" that published the STALKER games?

Hey Alundaio, can you tell us what modifications were done to the AI by the Zone of Alienation team? When I played the mod I noticed the bandits were running more often, they camped and or flanked 24/7 and they even fired at your last known location just in case if you popped out again or were behind a bush.
Hell, I had to load the game like 10-12 times to kill all the bandits in the car park. It always something different...the last one was a bandit rushing -And I fucking mean rushing- up to me and blasting my face away with a double barrel.
Jesus christ, Lost Alpha crashes so often it's not playable anymore. I can't quickload after dying without crashing, I can't open some menus sometimes without crashing and I get such shitty FPS at some areas.
Are there any news of a patch coming? Because this is getting dumb.

And they're all stack trace:'s btw. And no I'm not running out of RAM either.

To be honest, the story and cutscenes let it down even if it wasn't a crashfest.
Lost Alpha is, at least for me, relatively stable as long as you don't :
1. Try to quickload or load quicksaves. If you need to "quicksave", just type save "name of save"(without the quotes) into the console and it'll create a permasave by that name which you can then load by opening the console and typing load "name of save". Once you get used to it, it replaces regular quicksaving pretty handily.
2. Hit the "contacts" tab of the PDA. That seems to crash the game pretty much consistently. Other crashes can result from other tabs of the PDA but with the 1.30013 patch it seems that other PDA tabs work fine, but "Contacts" if pretty much fucked.
[editline]herp[/editline]
Oh yeah, and it's a good idea to keep and back up permasaves at regular intervals. I've had at least 3 instances in the early-midgame which can make progression impossible if you fuck up, or the game fucks up for you and you don't have a backup permasave to fall back upon.
They still haven't fixed the contacts crash?
Not in the 1.3.0013 version which I'm playing so... Which is kind of a shame, because in a potential freeplay mod, I would see that contacting NPCs via the PDA and getting small, randomized quests(even if at the moment it is just "Bring me stuff!") or warnings that way could be a really interesting game mechanic.
They still haven't fixed the contacts crash?
Would make sense if all their coders did indeed leg it, and since it's already released they probably can't entice coders to work on it.

Pressing the contacts button has never crashed me once, even without the patches.
