S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: The Zone will stop the Russians

Why is it that in Misery mod, a stalker will lose some of their inventory when they die? Let's say you want to trade with someone, and they have all of this nice loot on them that they're selling. Then they die somehow, and immediately after they die, you check their body, and it's like half of their stuff just mysteriously disappeared. Why does this happen?

Trade inventory and death inventory are completely unrelated
Zone tax.
Sounds like what Misery mod is all about...

I've noticed that, and I hate it. I just find it so damn dumb that all of those items disappear, it's so stupid.

Swartz mod removes that mechanic, IIRC. As a result, NPCs have literally hundreds' of kilograms of worth weapons and items in their inventory when they die, resulting in the player becoming super rich pretty much as soon as they loot their first stalker that's been going around the Zone for a little while. Like many abstractions in game mechanics that snub 'realism' in favour of balance, in my personal opinion it allows the balancing of the gear progression better without unnecessarily gimping the NPC stalkers as well as not making trading with NPCs totally irrelevant, as opposed to the almost irrelevant as it is now.

Yup, and it has been like that since Vanilla SoC 1.000.
Who still remembers you could speed up time in SoC 1.0000 with a keybind? IIRC it was numpad + and -
Lost Alpha is, at least for me, relatively stable as long as you don't ...
It has been relatively stable for me, as well. I have this terrible issue with the new r3 renderer where I get these pure white flashes of light that make it unplayable, so I am waiting on patches.
I mean, sure, I could play on DX9, but part of LA's appeal for me was the new renderer.

Are you using an ATI card ?
I'm not entirely sure if it's the same problem or a different one(probably isn't), but for me the 1.3.0013 patch broke both the DX9 and DX10 renderer for me, which made the screen look like overly bright, horrible mess with blotches of melting butter assaulting me, a problem which I got only past by reinstalling Lost Alpha retail, so I could take the selflight.s from the r2 and r3 folders and replace the faulty selflight of the 1.3.0013 patch.
Is Swartz mod compatible with Misery mod?
Uhh, no, it's a large overhaul mod. And I'm not even entirely sure if it has the same death items as items for trade, but NPCs seem to really drop EVERYTHING they had on their person when they die. Basically results in stuff like this :

Since when has the CoP Weapon Overhaul mod been removed from ModDB?
Since when has the CoP Weapon Overhaul mod been removed from ModDB?
He used the models from a pretty common russian game on facebook / vk, called Contract Wars. I play it. That aside, he got several copyright infringements from the developers. He took the mod down and sealed off his profile for the time being
I literally just deleted the download I had while cleaning up files, thinking "I can always redownload"
fuck

Is CoP Weapon Overhaul the same as Arsenal Overhaul ?
[sp]you can find the Arsenal Overhaul over at the /vg/ CoP repo[/sp]

And if all else fails,
AMK-forums.ru is there for you, stalker. IMHO STCoP: Weapons Pack 1.5 is sublime. It's amazing, for a russian modpack. I'm going to translate it back to English with the help of a few guys and hopefully make an English version soon, but the quality on each weapon is so on par with the rest, makes the game feel like one from 2013 or so.

How do you know this? He vanished entirely and quit stalker modding. He dropped out of the team without a word. Who told him to stop because I will find them and I will destroy them. Call of Chernobyl is using OWR 2 and this leaves us vulnerable.
He told this in his update regarding a new version of OWR2 with community models (through AMK-forums). He replaced all copyrighted weapons, but after this update he indeed vanished.
And still, it is copyright infringement. As much as I love populik for doing what he did, he probably knew the consequences. It's a shame those CW guys aren't as loose as other people are, but I can read that from their responses towards the playerbase clearly that they're not the lovey-dovey bunch.
Does anyone know if having big stashes in SGM affects your save files getting corrupted? Because I lost my Geonozis save files and I ain't gonna lose my 2.2 ones. I do make multiple different saves every day so that I will not lose all of my progress. Just wondering if having lots, lots and lots of stuff in your stashes affects saves/crashing at all.
I LIKE TO BE A HOARDER GOD DAMMIT!
The-most-annoying-sound-in-gaming-history Award goes to... the sound of a Controller taking over your brain! (Misery Mod 2.1!)
For me that was with any Shadow of Chernobyl mod like AMK where mutants would usually be next to controllers and I would die to the mutants only to have the sound of the controller stuck looping even after loading again.
I hate that sound so much.
Are you using an ATI card ?
1.3.0013 ... made the screen look like overly bright, horrible mess with blotches of melting butter assaulting me
Yes, I am using an ATI. And that is a great description for what I am experiencing.
My life motto, "butter makes everything better," does not apply to Lost Alpha, unfortunately.
Oh wow, somehow I didn't even know that there was a whole thread dedicated solely to STALKER.
That reminds me, recently I've been trying to free some space on my hdd and stumbled upon the following thing. It's a mod for StCoP I made about 5 years ago. It contains a Fallout 3 plasma granade as a replacement of rgd-5. It should look something like this (screensots are even older than the mod):
[thumb]http://img.gameru.net/img/3e37f.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://img.gameru.net/img/cd4e8.jpg[/thumb]
Could anybody please confirm if that thing even works, I don't have CoP installed at the moment. Here's the link: dl
If that has the same properties as the plasma grenade and isn't just a remodel, it would be perfect against groups of enemies
If that has the same properties as the plasma grenade and isn't just a remodel, it would be perfect against groups of enemies
I'm not really sure how different are the properties from the standard grenade because I don't have the original config. The type of damage inflicted by the explosion and fragments is changed to chemical burn, that's for sure.

Make it a really intense chemical burn. Being able to sneak up on a group of bandit scum and just melt them into a soupy puddle would be so satisfying.

I thought he was using models from FPS banana. CW weapons don't even look original, they look like they, too, were ripped from other games.

Put that file in your shaders/r3 directory.

Looks like we're in for STALKER's third or fourth spin-off.
